Unboxing Your Bike

a. With the box upright, use a small knife to carefully cut the tape. Avoid cutting into the box itself.

b. Gently lift the bike by its frame or wheels.

c. Remove the two small parts boxes containing: n+EQ Power Pack charging adaptor & chord, 15mm combination wrench, 3-way torx key (4, 5, 6mm), additional user manuals, pedals, reflectors, and a T30 torx key.

d. Gently remove all packaging from the bike by hand.

Power

Ensure the bike is powered off (Heads Up Display backlight should be off).

2.1 Handlebars

The integrated handlebar and stem attach to the steerer tube. Headset compression is achieved by tightening the stem cap bolt, while the stem pinch bolts secure the bar to the steerer tube. Headset compression must be done before tightening the stem pinch bolts.

  1. Remove the stem cap bolt and stem cap from the steerer tube.
  2. Slide the handlebars onto the steerer tube and loosely reinstall the stem cap and bolt. Ensure cables are not wrapped around the fork.
  3. Align the handlebars with the front wheel and snug the stem pinch bolts. A ruler can aid alignment.
  4. Compress the headset by tightening the stem cap bolt to 5-7Nm using the 5mm hex key.
  5. Check for smooth fork rotation and headset compression by holding the front brake and rocking the bike. There should be no play. If play exists, torque the stem cap bolt to the upper recommended limit (7Nm).
  6. Reinstall the stem cap bolt grommet.
  7. Verify handlebar alignment with the front wheel. Tighten the handlebar integrated stem clamp pinch bolts to 5-6Nm using an alternating torque process (lower bolt to 3Nm, upper to 3Nm, then lower to 5-6Nm, upper to 5-6Nm).
  8. Check that brake levers and grips are secure. Tighten screws if loose.

2.2 Installing Kickstand

  1. Fold the stand into its folded position carefully.
  2. Remove the stand's top screws using the 5mm torx key.
  3. Position the stand, aligning screw holes with the bracket (typically on the left rear side). Secure screws to 9-11Nm.
  4. Reinstall the screws.

Fold down the bike stand; the bike should now rest on it.

2.3 Saddle

  1. Loosen the cam lock lever and slide it onto the seat post.
  2. Straighten the saddle to align with the top tube.
  3. Tighten the cam lock to secure the saddle. Over-tightening may damage the battery or bike.

2.4 Front Wheel

The front wheel attaches with two 15mm screws.

  1. Tighten screws on both sides using the torx wrench, alternating sides, to 11.8Nm.
  2. Remove the front brake insert from the caliper. Do not squeeze brake levers.
  3. Lift the bike's front and guide the wheel (brake disc facing outwards, on the same side as the kickstand) onto the front fork, aligning axle grooves.
  4. Ensure the brake disc sits correctly within the caliper pads and the wheel spins freely.
  5. Tighten axle nuts evenly on both sides. Check wheel centering.

2.5 Pedals

Pedals are side-specific: right pedal tightens clockwise, left pedal counter-clockwise.

  1. Pedals are marked 'L' (left) and 'R' (right).
  2. Attach the left pedal to the left crank arm (same side as kickstand) and tighten counter-clockwise.
  3. Attach the right pedal to the right crank arm and tighten clockwise.
  4. Tighten pedals to 25 Nm torque.

2.6 Adding Reflectors

Reflectors are required for safety.

  1. Attach the white reflector to the handlebars using a Phillips head screwdriver.
  2. Attach the red reflector to the rear seat stay (right or left), positioned near the bottom of the seat post, using the same method.

2.7 Inflating Tires

  1. Remove the valve cap, twist the valve, and inflate using a pump with a Presta valve attachment. Recommended pressure: 50-75psi (minimum 50psi, maximum 75psi).
  2. Tighten the valve and replace the cap.

2.8 Check Brake Calipers

Spin the front wheel to check for smooth rolling. If there is excessive tension (slow turn), loosen the two 5mm caliper bolts, squeeze the right brake lever, and then retighten the bolts.

2.9 Charging Your n+ Mercedes Formula E Team Silver Arrows eBike

The eBike ships with approximately 20% charge and requires charging before first use. The battery is integrated into the seatpost.

Battery range is up to 120 km / 75 miles, varying with conditions. Connect the charger to the battery charging dock located under the saddle on the seatpost.

Comfort Features

3.1 Adjusting Your Saddle Position

Small saddle position changes significantly impact performance and comfort. Make one adjustment at a time.

Forward and Back Adjustment: Adjust the saddle forward or back for a customized fit. Consult your dealer for optimal positioning. If adjusting yourself, ensure the clamp mechanism grips the straight part of the saddle rails, not the curved part, and use recommended torque.

Saddle Angle Adjustment: Adjust to suit comfort. Standard is horizontal, but some prefer a slight nose angle. Your dealer can assist. If adjusting yourself, ensure the clamp mechanism grips the straight part of the saddle rails and use recommended torque.

3.2 Other Modifications for Comfort

The angle and position of brake and shift levers on the handlebars can be adjusted. Consult your dealer for adjustments or re-tighten clamp fasteners to the recommended torque as outlined in the Appendix.

Riding Your Bike

Modes of Operation

Your bike operates in two modes: Pedal Assist or Pedal Only. Adjust the assist level using the gradient selector on the handlebar.

4.1 Pedal Powered Assist Mode

Ensure the bike power is ON. After two revolutions, the bike will provide assistance. The torque-sensing technology matches your pedaling input with electric motor assistance, increasing power as you pedal harder and decreasing as you ease off.

To adjust assist level, toggle the M (mode) button until PAS is visible on the HUD. Use the UP/DOWN arrows to select a level from 1 (lowest) to 5 (highest).

4.2 Pedal Mode

To ride as a standard bicycle, switch the power button OFF. Do not remove components for unassisted riding, as this can damage the bike and motor.

4.3 Gradient Selector

Use the handlebar controls to adjust assistance on hills or inclines.

To Ride Your Bike

  • Ensure your bike is charged.
  • Turn the bike's power on.
  • Select gradient level (note: stationary use limits selection to 60% of range).
  • Start pedaling; after two revolutions, power assist will engage.
  • Use the M button and UP/DOWN keys to select the desired power assist (PAS) level.

Troubleshooting

  • Motor does not assist after 2 revolutions: Check battery charge. Ensure the rear wheel spoke sensor aligns with the chain stay sensing unit. Test by rolling the bike forward/backward with hands on the saddle (not pedals); a red light should indicate sensor activation.

Safety Check First Ride

  • Check rear wheel nut tension is sufficient (use 15mm tool).
  • Check crank bolts (8mm) are tight.
  • Check handlebar grip screws are not loose; tighten with a 3mm key if needed.
  • Check belt tension is not too tight. If it is, consult a qualified service technician.

Safety & Disclaimer

5.1 Safe Riding

For your first ride, choose a hazard-free environment. Familiarize yourself with the power switch, torque sensing, gears, and brakes. Always obey road rules and respect other users. The eBike has a maximum assisted speed of 25 km/h (32 km/h in select countries). Check local eBike laws. Ride at an appropriate speed for terrain, conditions, and your abilities. Wear adequate protection, including a compliant helmet. Do not ride with headphones or while using a mobile phone. Ensure lights are operational and visible.
