It is recommended to have this bike assembled by a skilled bicycle mechanic to maintain safety, compliance, and warranty requirements. A calibrated torque wrench is required for safety-critical screws. If you do not have one, use a professional service provider.
Unboxing Your Bike
- With the box standing upright, use a small knife to safely cut the tape, being careful not to cut into the box.
- Gently lift the bike by its frame or wheels.
- Remove the two small parts boxes containing: n+EQ Power Pack charging adaptor & chord, 15mm combination wrench, 3-way torx key (4, 5, 6mm), additional User Manuals, Pedals, Reflectors, and Torx key T30.
- Gently remove the packaging around the bike by hand.
Power
Ensure the bike is turned off (Heads Up Display backlight should be off).
2.1 Handlebars
Install the integrated handlebar and stem onto the steerer tube. Headset compression is achieved by tightening the stem cap bolt, while the integrated bar and stem grip the steerer tube using stem pinch bolts. Headset compression must be performed before tightening stem pinch bolts.
- Remove the stem cap bolt and stem cap from the steerer tube.
- Slide the handlebars onto the steerer tube and loosely reinstall the stem cap and bolt. Ensure cables are not wrapped around the fork.
- Align the handlebars with the front wheel and snug the stem pinch bolts. A ruler against the forks can aid alignment.
- Compress the headset by tightening the stem cap bolt to 5-7Nm using a 5mm hex key.
- Check forks rotate smoothly and headset is compressed by holding the front brake and rocking the bike. Ensure no play exists between forks and frame. If play exists, torque stem cap bolt to 7Nm.
- Reinstall the stem cap bolt grommet.
- Check handlebar alignment with the front wheel. Tighten handlebar clamp pinch bolts to 5-6Nm using an alternating torque process (lower bolt to 3Nm, upper to 3Nm, lower to 5-6Nm, upper to 5-6Nm) for even pressure.
- Check brake levers and grips are secure. Tighten screws if loose.
2.2 Installing Kickstand
- Fold the stand into its folded position carefully.
- Remove the stand's top screws using a 5mm torx key.
- Position the stand, aligning screw holes behind the bracket (typically on the left rear of the bike). Tighten screws to 9-11Nm.
- Fix the screws back into place.
2.3 Saddle
- Loosen the cam lock by flipping the lever and unscrewing; slide onto the seat post.
- Straighten the saddle to align with the top tube.
- Tighten the cam lock to secure the saddle.
PLEASE NOTE: Over-tightening can cause battery and bike damage.
2.4 Front Wheel
Install the front wheel using two 15mm screws. Tighten screws to 11.8Nm.
- Remove the front brake insert from the caliper. Avoid squeezing brake levers.
- Lift the front of the bike and guide the wheel (brake disc facing out on the same side as the kickstand) onto the front fork so axle grooves align.
- Check the brake disc sits comfortably within the caliper pads and the wheel spins freely.
- Tighten axle nuts alternately and equally. Ensure the wheel is centered.
Fold down the bike stand; the bike should now rest on it.
2.5 Pedals
Pedals are marked 'L' (left) and 'R' (right). The left pedal tightens anti-clockwise, and the right pedal tightens clockwise.
- Install the left pedal on the left side (same side as kickstand) and tighten anti-clockwise.
- Install the right pedal on the crank and tighten clockwise.
- Tighten pedals to 25 Nm torque.
2.6 Adding Reflectors
Mount reflectors to comply with safety laws.
- Fix the white reflector to the handlebars using a Phillips head screwdriver.
- Install the red reflector on the rear seat stay, positioned near the bottom of the seat post.
2.7 Inflating Tires
- Remove the valve cap, twist the valve, and inflate using a pump with a Presta valve attachment. Recommended pressure: 50-75psi (minimum 50psi, maximum 75psi).
- Tighten the valve and replace the cap.
2.8 Check Brake Calipers
Spin the front wheel to ensure it rolls smoothly. If there is too much tension (causing a slow turn), loosen the two 5mm caliper bolts, squeeze the brake lever, and then retighten the bolts.
2.9 Charging Your n+ Mercedes Formula E Team eBike
The eBike ships with approximately 20% charge and must be charged before first use. The battery is located in the seatpost. Battery range is approximately 60 km / 37.5 miles, varying with conditions. Connect the charger to the battery charging dock under the saddle.

Riding Your Bike
4.1 Pedal Powered Assist Mode
Ensure the bike power is ON. After 2 revolutions, the bike will assist you. The pedal assist torque sensing technology matches your input with motor assistance. As you pedal harder, assistance increases. Assistance reduces as pedalling effort decreases.
To adjust pedal assist, use the M (mode) button until PAS is visible on the Heads Up Display. Use the UP/DOWN arrows to select a level from 1 (lowest) to 5 (highest).
4.2 Pedal Mode
To ride as a standard bicycle, switch the power button OFF. Do not remove components; riding unassisted with components attached can damage the bike and motor.
4.3 Gradient Selector
Adjust controls on the handlebar for hills or increasing gradients.
To Ride Your Bike
- Ensure the bike is charged.
- Turn the bike's power on.
- Select gradient (note: only 60% of range is available when stationary).
- Start pedalling; power assist will commence after 2 revolutions.
- Select the appropriate power assist (PAS) level using the M button and UP/DOWN keys.
Troubleshooting
If the motor does not assist after 2 revolutions:
- Check battery is fully charged.
- Ensure the cylindrical silver sensor on rear wheel spokes aligns with the sensing unit on the rear chain stay. Test by rolling the bike forward/backward with hands on the saddle (not pedals); a red light should indicate sensor activation.
Safety Check First Ride
- Check rear wheel nut tension is sufficient using the 15mm tool.
- Check crank bolts (8mm) are tight.
- Check handlebar grip screws are not loose; tighten with a 3mm key if they are.
- Check belt tension is not too tight. Refer to a qualified technician if adjustment is needed.
