10 Product and safety information

For your safety

Read these simple instructions. Failure to follow these instructions may be dangerous or violate local laws and regulations. For more information, read the complete user guide.

Switch off in restricted areas

Switch off the device when mobile phone use is not permitted or when it may cause interference or danger, such as on aircraft, in hospitals, or near medical equipment, fuel, chemicals, or in explosive areas. Obey all instructions in restricted areas.

Road safety first

Obey local laws. During a drive, always keep your hands free to drive the vehicle. Your priority during a drive should be road safety.

Interference

All wireless devices may be susceptible to interference, which could affect their performance.

Authorised service

This product may only be installed or repaired by authorised personnel.

Batteries, chargers, and other accessories

Only use batteries, chargers, and other accessories approved by HMD Global for use with this device. Do not connect incompatible products.

Keep your device dry

For more detailed information on your device's water resistance, please refer to your device's IP classification.

Protect your hearing

Do not listen for extended periods at high volume levels to prevent possible damage to your hearing system. When using the speaker, be careful not to bring the device close to your ear.

Some wireless devices may interfere with some hearing aids.

Protect your device from harmful content

Your device may be exposed to viruses and other harmful content. Take the following precautions:

Emergency calls

Important: Connections are not guaranteed to be available under all conditions. For critical communication needs, such as medical emergencies, never rely solely on wireless phones.

Before making a call:

1. Press the end call key repeatedly until the home screen appears.

2. Write the official emergency number for your location. Emergency numbers vary by location.

3. Press the call key.

4. Provide the necessary information as accurately as possible. Do not end the conversation until you are told to do so.

You may also need to:

Use your device carefully

Use your device, battery, charger, and accessories with care. The following recommendations will help you keep your device in working order.

The device may become warm during a long operation. This is normal for most of the time. To prevent overheating, the device may automatically slow down, close applications, stop charging, and even shut itself down if necessary. If the device is not working properly, take it to the nearest authorised service centre.

Recycling

This product complies with the WEEE Directive.

Always hand in your used electronic products, batteries, and packaging materials to dedicated collection points. This helps to prevent uncontrolled waste disposal and to recycle materials. Used electronic products contain valuable materials. These include metals (such as copper, aluminium, steel, and magnesium) and precious metals (such as gold, silver, and palladium). All materials in the device can be recovered as materials and energy.

Crossed-out wheeled bin symbol

The crossed-out wheeled bin symbol on your product, battery, accessories, or packaging indicates that these products must not be disposed of with household waste. When their end of life comes, take them to a separate collection point for electrical and electronic products. This helps to prevent uncontrolled waste disposal and to recycle materials.

Battery and charger information

Battery and charger safety information

To disconnect a charger or accessory, hold the plug, not the cord. Unplug your charger when you are not using it. A fully charged battery will discharge over time if left unused.

For best performance, always keep the battery between 15°F and 25°C (59°F and 77°F). High temperatures reduce the capacity of the battery and shorten its life. A battery that is hot or cold may temporarily not work. A short circuit may occur if a metal object touches the battery's metal strips. This may damage the battery or another object.

Do not dispose of batteries in a fire. Follow local regulations. Evaluate recycling options. Do not dispose of with household waste.

Do not dismantle, cut, crush, bend, puncture, or damage the battery in any way. If the battery leaks, do not allow the liquid to touch your skin or eyes. If this happens, rinse the affected area immediately with water or seek medical help. Do not modify, try to insert foreign objects into, or immerse the battery in water or other liquids. Batteries may explode if damaged.

Use the battery and charger only for their intended purpose. Improper use, or use of unapproved or incompatible batteries or chargers, may present a risk of fire, explosion, or other hazard, and may invalidate any approval or warranty. If you think your battery or charger is damaged, take it to a service centre or the place where you bought it before you continue to use it. Never use a damaged battery or charger. Only use the charger indoors. Do not charge your device in stormy weather.

Small children

Your device and its accessories are not toys. They may contain small parts. Keep them out of the reach of small children.

Medical devices

A device that emits radio signals, such as a wireless phone, may affect the performance of inadequately protected medical devices. Consult your doctor or the medical device manufacturer to determine whether it has adequate protection against external radio energy.

Implanted medical devices

To prevent interference, medical implant device manufacturers recommend a minimum separation of 15.3 cm (6 inches) between a medical implant device (such as a pacemaker, insulin pump, or neurostimulator) and a wireless device:

If you have questions about using your wireless device with an implanted medical device, consult your healthcare provider.

Hearing

Warning: When using the headset, your ability to hear outside sounds may be affected. Do not use the headset if it may compromise your safety.

Some wireless devices may interfere with some hearing aids.

Protect your device from harmful content

Your device may be exposed to viruses and other harmful content. Take the following precautions:

Vehicles

Radio signals may affect vehicle electronic systems if they are not properly installed or if they are inadequately shielded. For details, consult the manufacturer of your vehicle or electronic equipment. Installation of the device in a vehicle should be done only by qualified personnel. Improper installation may be dangerous and may void the warranty. Regularly check that any wireless device equipment installed in your vehicle is correctly fitted and in good working order. Do not keep devices, their parts, or accessories near flammable or explosive materials. Do not place your device or accessories in the area of an air bag.

Potentially explosive atmospheres

Switch off your device in areas with potentially explosive atmospheres, such as near gasoline pumps. Sparks in such areas could cause an explosion or fire, resulting in injury or death. Obey all restrictions when in areas with flammable liquids, gases, or explosive dusts. It may be that there are no obvious signs of a flammable or explosive atmosphere. These typically include, but are not limited to, areas where you are advised to turn off the engine of a vehicle; below deck on boats; in or near facilities for the transfer or storage of chemicals or volatile substances; areas where the air contains flammable vapours or gases; areas where sparks might be produced, such as during the grinding or machining of metals; and areas where dust is present, such as grain or flour mills.
