Product Overview

The Avantree C81 is a USB-C Bluetooth audio transmitter designed for the PlayStation 5 (PS5) console, enabling wireless audio transmission to Bluetooth headphones or speakers.

Setup

1. Step 1: Pair C81: Insert the C81 into the PS5's Type-C port. The LED on C81 will flash blue and white. If it does not, press and hold the button on C81 for 2 seconds until it does.
2. Step 2: Put your headphones into pairing mode: Consult your headphone's manual. Disable Bluetooth on any previously connected devices (phone, tablet, computer, smartwatch) to avoid accidental connections.
3. Step 3: Wait for connection: Wait for 10-20 seconds. When connected, the LED on C81 will turn solid blue, and your headphones may show "connected."
4. Step 4: Configure PS5 settings: Access "Settings" on your PS5, navigate to "Sound," and set the input device as "Controller" and the output device as "Avantree C81 (PS5)."

Notes:

• The Bluetooth connection is between the C81 and your headphones, not directly with the PS5. Avoid the "Bluetooth accessories" section in PS5 settings, as it is intended for controllers.
• Ensure your headphones are Bluetooth-enabled and not 2.4GHz-based (e.g., Sony PULSE 3D), as these are incompatible.
• For the best audio experience, use the C81 for audio output and your PS5 controller for input (microphone). Using your headphones' microphone may degrade in-game background music due to the low sampling rate (16kHz) of standard Classic Bluetooth in Hands-Free (HFP) mode. Future devices supporting the new Bluetooth LE Audio standard will overcome this issue with higher sampling rates.

Compatibility

The Avantree C81 supports aptX Low Latency (offering latency as low as 40ms) and aptX Adaptive (offering latency as low as 50ms) for a near lip-sync experience. For devices certified with these codecs, visit https://www.aptx.com. Using the standard SBC codec may result in higher latency (up to 220ms).

For best compatibility, choose the PC version of the C81 dongle. Alternatively, contact support@avantree.com for a PC-specific firmware update. Note that switching to the PC version will make it incompatible with the PS5.

Ensure you are using Bluetooth headphones/speakers compatible with aptX Low Latency or aptX Adaptive. Avoid using devices that rely solely on the SBC codec, which can cause higher latency.

Press and hold the button for 2 seconds until the LED flashes blue and white rapidly, then quickly double-click the button to reset.
