Märklin HO Scale BR V 60 Locomotive (Model 37655)
Operating Instructions
Information about the Prototype
The German Federal Railroad class 260/261 is a three-axle, diesel-hydraulic locomotive with a jackshaft and side rods. It was developed because a distinct need for powerful switch engines arose in the mid 1950s on the DB. All of the famous German locomotive builders participated in the development and manufacture of the locomotives classified as V 60 until 1968.
The 10.45 meter (33.96 feet) long locomotives have a maximum speed of 60 km/h (37 m.p.h.). A 12 cylinder diesel motor from Maybach serves as the power plant. To reduce labor costs, these locomotives were demoted in 1987 to the classification small locomotives with the class numbers 360/361. The classes 364/365 are equipped with remote radio controls. A signal light on both sides of the engineer's cab indicates unmanned operation.
Safety Notes
- This locomotive is to be used only with an operating system designed for it (Märklin AC, Märklin Delta, Märklin Digital or Märklin Systems).
- Use only switched mode power supply units and transformers that are designed for your local power system.
- This locomotive must never be supplied with power from more than one transformer.
- Pay close attention to the safety notes in the instructions for your operating system.
- The feeder track must be equipped to prevent interference with radio and television reception, when the locomotive is to be run in conventional operation. The 74046 interference suppression set is to be used for this purpose. For digital operation, the interference suppression set is not suitable.
- Do not expose the model to direct sunlight, extreme changes in temperature, or high humidity.
- WARNING! Sharp edges and points required for operation.
General Notes
- The operating instructions and the packaging are a component part of the product and must therefore be kept as well as transferred along with the product to others.

Service and maintenance
The locomotive requires periodic maintenance to ensure optimal performance. Refer to the diagrams for specific maintenance procedures, such as lubrication points and component replacement.
Lubrication: Apply Märklin maintenance oil (7149) to the designated points as shown in the diagrams.
Wheel Replacement: Ensure correct wheel alignment and use a 2.5 mm wrench for any adjustments.
General Maintenance: Follow the exploded view diagram on page 30 for part identification and assembly/disassembly instructions.
Spare Parts
A detailed parts list with corresponding numbers is provided on page 31. This list can be used to order replacement parts from your Märklin dealer.
