Instrument Cluster
Instrument Cluster Overview
The instrument cluster displays vital driving information. Key components include:
- 1 Tachometer: Engine revolutions per minute (RPM).
- 2 Speedometer: Vehicle speed.
- 3 Turn Signal Indicators: Indicate turn signal activation.
- 4 Gear Shift Position: Shows the current gear.
- 5 Odometer: Total distance traveled.
- 6 Tripmeter: Distance traveled since last reset.
- 7 Engine Temperature: Coolant temperature.
- 8 Fuel Gauge: Indicates fuel level.
- 9 Exterior Temperature: Ambient temperature.
Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS)
The ⏩ indicator serves as both a Low Tire Pressure Light and TPMS Malfunction Indicator. It illuminates if tire pressure is significantly low, if the vehicle has a spare tire without TPMS, or in cold temperatures.
- To turn off the Low Tire Pressure Light: Inflate tires to the recommended pressure using a digital tire pressure gauge. Refer to the front driver's door jamb for PSI specifications.
- TPMS Malfunction Indicator: If this indicator illuminates after blinking for approximately one minute, there is a TPMS problem. Consult your dealer for service.
Quick Tips for TPMS:
- Manually check tire pressure at least monthly, adjusting only on "cold tires."
- Maintain recommended tire pressures for optimal fuel economy and maintenance.
- In cold weather, the TPMS light may illuminate even if tire pressure is correct.
Indicators & Warning Lights
Your vehicle's instrument cluster and indicator light locations may vary. Refer to your Owner's Manual for details.
- Seat Belt Warning Light: Reminds you to fasten your seatbelt.
- Electronic Brake Force Distribution (EBD) System Warning Light: Indicates a potential issue with the EBD system.
- Parking Brake & Brake Fluid Warning Light: Illuminates when the parking brake is engaged or if brake fluid is low.
- Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) Warning Light: Indicates a problem with the ABS.
- Active ECO Indicator*: Shows when the Active ECO system is engaged for fuel efficiency.
- Engine Oil Pressure Warning Light: Illuminates if engine oil pressure is critically low.
- Electronic Power Steering Warning Light: Indicates a fault in the power steering system.
- Tailgate Open Warning Light: Illuminates if the tailgate is not securely closed.
- High Beam Indicator: Shows when high beams are activated.
- Tail Light Indicator*: Indicates tail light status.
- Front Fog Light Indicator*: Shows when front fog lights are on.
- Cruise ON/OFF Indicator*: Indicates Cruise Control status.
- Cruise SET Indicator*: Shows when Cruise Control speed is set.
- Low Fuel Level Warning Light: Illuminates when the fuel level is low.
- Airbag Warning Light: Indicates a potential issue with the airbag system.
- Auto Stop (ISG System) Indicator: Illuminates when the Idle Stop & Go system has stopped the engine.
- Fuel Cap Open Warning Indicator: Illuminates if the fuel cap is not properly tightened.
Trip Computer / Tripmeter*
The Trip Computer displays driving information such as Odometer, Tripmeter, Range, Average Fuel Consumption, and Driving Time. Use the Mode/Select button ☐ to cycle through display modes and the Move/Reset button ☐ to cycle through Trip Computer screens. Press and hold Move/Reset to reset Trip A or Trip B.
REMINDER: Stored driving information (except Odometer and Range) resets if the battery is disconnected.
LCD Display Controls and Modes* (Type B cluster only)
Use the Mode/Select button ☐ to cycle through LCD modes:
- Trip Computer Mode: Displays driving information (tripmeter, fuel economy, etc.).
- Turn-by-Turn Mode: Shows Navigation system status.
- A/V Mode: Displays Audio/Video system status.
- Master Warning / Service Modes: Alerts for upcoming service intervals and system warnings (TPMS, etc.).
- User Settings Mode: Allows customization of doors, lamps, and other features.
Active ECO System*
The Active ECO system enhances fuel efficiency by optimizing engine power and transmission for better fuel economy. Press the Active ECO button 1 to activate it; the button light and the green ECO indicator light 2 in the instrument cluster will illuminate. Press the button again to deactivate.
Quick Tips for Fuel Efficiency:
- Drive at moderate speeds, accelerating smoothly.
- Maintain proper tire inflation and alignment.
- Avoid carrying unnecessary weight.
- Avoid excessive idling.
Fuel Efficiency
Factors influencing fuel efficiency include maintenance, driving style, environmental conditions, vehicle weight, and aerodynamics. Follow the tips above and in the "Getting More Out Of Every Gallon" brochure for optimal results.
Driver's Panel
Instrument Panel Dimmer*
With parking lights or headlights on, use the + or – buttons to adjust the instrument panel brightness. The Door Mood Lamp has a fixed brightness.
Electronic Stability Control (ESC)
The ESC system aids in vehicle stability during cornering. It is recommended to keep ESC ON for daily driving. Press the ESC button ● to turn it OFF or ON. ESC is automatically activated when the vehicle starts.
ISG (Idle, Stop, Go) System*
The ISG system conserves fuel by automatically shutting down the engine when the vehicle is stopped. The green AUTO STOP indicator △ illuminates when the engine stops. To restart, release the brake pedal or shift to R (Reverse) or Sport Mode while depressing the brake. Press the ISG OFF button ● to deactivate the system.
Hill-Start Assist Control (HAC)
HAC prevents the vehicle from rolling backward on inclines when starting. It activates automatically with ESC. HAC provides a 2-second delay before the vehicle may roll backward.
Power Windows, Window Lock & Central Door Lock
- Window Controls: Pull/press to operate driver and passenger windows (Auto Up/Down).
- Door Lock/Unlock: Press to lock or unlock all doors.
- Window Lock: Press to disable rear passenger window controls.
Quick Tip: Auto Door Lock/Unlock engages when the gear shift moves into or out of Park.
Automatic Door Lock/Unlock
All doors automatically lock or unlock when the gear shift is moved into or out of the Park position.
Power/Heated Outside Mirrors
Mirror heaters are controlled with the Rear Defroster. Use the toggle switch 9 to select a mirror, then use the arrows to adjust its position. Toggle button 8 folds/unfolds mirrors automatically with Smart Key lock/unlock or door handle button press.
Hood Release Lever and Latch
- Opening: Pull the Hood Release Lever 1 on the driver's panel. Then, lift the hood slightly and push the secondary latch 1 to open.
- Closing: Lower the hood and press down firmly to secure. Keep hands clear during closing.
Fuel Door Release Lever
Lift lever 1 to release the fuel door.
Engine Start/Stop Button*
- To Start: Depress the brake pedal and press the ENGINE START/STOP button. The Smart Key fob must be on your person.
- To Turn Off: Press the ENGINE START/STOP button.
- Emergency Shut-off: In motion, press the button for over 2 seconds or three times within 3 seconds to turn the engine off or to ACC position.
- Dead Fob Battery: Hold the fob against the Engine Start/Stop button.
Quick Tips for Accessory Use:
- ACC Position: Press the ENGINE START/STOP button once (amber light A) without depressing the brake pedal.
- ON Position: Press the ENGINE START/STOP button again from ACC (reddish-orange light B), or twice from OFF without depressing the brake pedal.
CAUTION: Prolonged use of ACC or ON position without driving may discharge the battery.
Steering Wheel Controls
Headlights & High Beams
The AUTO Light function automatically controls headlights and tail lights based on ambient light. Push the lever to activate High Beams; pull to flash. Rotate the lever to select AUTO, Headlight, Parking Light, or OFF positions.
Turn Signals & Fog Lights*
A slight, quick movement of the Turn Signal Lever activates the One-Touch Lane Change Signal (3 blinks). The number of blinks can be adjusted in the User Settings Mode.
REMINDER: Fog lights require headlights to be ON.
Windshield Wipers & Washers
Pull the lever to spray and wipe the windshield. Rotate the lever to adjust intermittent wipe speed (MIST, OFF, INT, LO, HI).
Rear Wiper & Washer*
Push the lever to spray and wipe the rear window. Rotate the lever to adjust intermittent wipe speed.
Tilt/Telescopic Steering Wheel
Push down the lock-release lever 1, adjust the wheel to the desired angle 6 and distance 10, then pull up the lever to lock.
Heated Steering Wheel Button*
Press button 4 to turn the steering wheel heater ON/OFF. It automatically turns off after 30 minutes or when the button is pressed again.
FlexSteer™ Steering Wheel Mode
Press the FlexSteer™ button 1 to display modes (NORMAL, SPORT, COMFORT) on the LCD. Press button 2 within 4 seconds to cycle through the modes.
Audio Controls
- Audio Mode: Press to cycle through FM/AM/SiriusXM®/Media (USB, iPod®, Aux, BT Audio, My Music).
- Seek/Preset: In Radio mode, advance through presets or AUTO SEEK. In Media mode, move track up/down or FF/REW.
- Volume: Press up/down to adjust volume.
Quick Tip: Pressing the Audio Mode button for over 1 second turns the audio system ON/OFF.
Cruise Control*
- ON/OFF: Press the Cruise Control ON/OFF button.
- Resume/Accelerate: Press RES/+ to resume or increase speed.
- Set/Decelerate: Press SET/- to set or decrease speed.
- Cancel: Press CANCEL or the brake pedal to cancel Cruise Control.
Quick Tips: Cruise Control is designed for speeds above 25 mph. It activates after the brake pedal is pressed once after ignition ON.
Bluetooth® Wireless Technology
- Volume: Press up/down to adjust speaker volume.
- Talk Button: Press to activate voice recognition or place calls. Wait for the system BEEP before speaking commands.
- Receive/Place Call: Press to answer calls or initiate calls via voice command.
- End Call: Press to end a call or cancel a function.
Phonebook Sync Tips: Syncing contacts ON downloads them each time the phone connects. Syncing OFF downloads them only at initial pairing.
Voice Recognition Tips: Speak clearly and use full names for contacts to improve recognition.
Pairing a Phone
Refer to the audio system's user guide or your vehicle's Quick Start Guide for pairing instructions. Accept connection requests for phonebook download during pairing.
How to Place a Call
- Standard Audio/UVO/Navigation Systems: Press the Receive/Place Call button 6 or the Talk button 8 and use voice commands like "Call {name}" or "Dial {number}".
Audio System
Standard Audio System Overview/Operation
Control radio, media, phone, and setup functions via buttons and knobs. Use the SETUP button to access audio, display, clock, and system settings.
Audio System Setup Options
- Display Setup: Adjust display modes (Popup, Text, Scroll, Media).
- Sound Setup: Adjust Speed Dependent Volume and Voice Recognition Volume.
- Clock Setup: Set clock and calendar, time format, and display ON/OFF.
- System Setup: View memory information, prompt feedback, and language settings.
Standard Audio System Operation - Media
Use the MEDIA button to select media sources (USB, iPod®, Aux, BT Audio, My Music). Use SEEK/TRACK buttons to navigate files and folders. Use Preset buttons (1-6) for quick access to stations/files. Repeat and Random playback options are available.
UVO System*
The UVO System offers eServices and other features. Refer to the UVO System User's Manual for detailed operation. Ensure the engine is running or use ACC mode sparingly to avoid battery drain.
Navigation System with AM/FM/SiriusXM*/CD/Aux/USB/iPod*/ BT Audio/My Music*
The navigation system integrates audio and navigation functions. Use the MAP, NAV, PHONE, INFO, and SETUP buttons to access features. Voice commands can be used for navigation and audio control.
Quick Tips: Operate the navigation system only when safe to do so. Avoid entering information while driving.
Advanced (Mood) Lighting Speaker*
The speaker lighting can be set to MOOD (automatic color/intensity changes), MUSIC (pulses with audio), or OFF. Use the knob and +/- buttons to adjust intensity.
Digital Clock*
Set the clock via the SETUP button (Standard Audio), CLOCK button (UVO), or SETUP key then CLOCK button (Navigation).
Aux/USB/iPod* Port* & Power Outlets*
Connect media devices via the Aux/USB/iPod® port. Power outlets (12V/120W and 12V/180W) are available for charging devices. The 12V/180W outlet is specifically for the Tire Mobility Kit.
Quick Tip: Power outlets are inactive when the ignition is OFF.
Climate Control
Automatic Climate Control* (Type B & Type A)
Use the AUTO button for full automatic operation. Press MODE buttons to select air flow (Face-Level, Bi-Level, Floor-Level, Floor/Defrost-Level). Use Defrost buttons for windshield defogging/defrosting.
- Defrost Outside Windshield: Set Fan Speed high, Temperature hot, and press the Front Windshield Defroster button.
- Defog Inside Windshield: Set desired Fan Speed and Temperature, then press the Defrost button.
Quick Tips: Keep interior glass clean. Defrost Mode activates A/C and opens fresh air vents.
Manual Climate Control*
Adjust Fan Speed and Temperature using the control knobs. Rotate the Mode Selection knob to choose air flow modes. Use the Front Defroster mode for windshield defrosting/defogging.
Gear Shift
Automatic Gear Shift with Sportmatic® Shifting*
P: Park, R: Reverse, N: Neutral, D: Drive. Move the shift lever from D to the left gate to enter Sport Mode. Use [+] and [-] for manual upshifts and downshifts.
Quick Tips: Press the brake pedal and the release button to shift from P, N, or R. Sport Mode automatically downshifts when slowing down.
Manual Gear Shift*
- Starting Engine: Apply parking brake, depress clutch fully, shift to Neutral, turn ignition to START.
- Shifting into Reverse: Depress clutch fully, shift to Neutral, pull up the Shift Lever Ring, then shift into Reverse.
Seating
Seat Warmers* / Ventilated Seats*
Press the top of the button for Seat Warmers (high, medium, low settings indicated by LEDs). Press the bottom for Ventilated Seats (high, medium, low). The system turns off when the ignition is cycled.
6-Way Manual Adjustable Driver's Seat*
Use the levers to adjust seat forward/backward, height, and recline.
Power Adjustable Driver's Seat*
Use the controls to adjust seat forward/backward, seat cushion, seatback, and lumbar support.
Front Seat Headrest Adjustment
Pull the headrest up to raise, press the lock and push down to lower. Pull forward to adjust position; pull completely forward and release to reset.
Fold & Unfold Rear Seatback
- To Fold: Adjust front seats, lower rear headrests, pull the folding lever 6, and fold the seat forward.
- To Unfold: Lift and pull the seatback backward until it clicks into place. Ensure the seatbelt is in the correct position.
Other Key Features
Smart Key*
Use the fob buttons to lock/unlock doors, activate the panic alarm, and release the mechanical key. The mechanical key can be used to unlock the driver's door and operate child safety locks.
Quick Tip: Store your phone separately from the Smart Key to avoid signal interference.
Remote Keyless Entry*
Use the key fob buttons to lock/unlock doors, unfold the key, and activate the panic alarm.
Fuel Cap Open Warning Indicator
Tighten the fuel cap with one click to prevent this indicator from illuminating.
Double-Turn Lock / Unlock All*
Turn the key counterclockwise to unlock (once for driver's door, twice for all doors) and clockwise to lock all doors.
Map/Room Lamps
Push the lens to turn Map Lamp ON/OFF. Press DOOR to turn lamps on when a door is opened. Press ROOM to turn all interior lamps ON.
Sunvisor
Slide and adjust the sunvisor to shield direct light from the front or side windows.
Panoramic Sunroof Operation*
Use the multidirectional switch/lever to slide or tilt the sunroof. Use the OPEN/CLOSE toggle buttons for the sunshade. The ignition must be ON.
Quick Tip: Stop the sunroof/sunshade at any position by pushing or pulling the control lever.
Sunroof Open Warning*
A warning chime and display alert will appear if the sunroof is not fully closed when the ignition is turned off or a door is opened.
Rear-Camera Display*
This supplemental system displays the view behind the vehicle on the Navigation or UVO screen when the vehicle is in Reverse. WARNING: This is not a substitute for safe backing procedures. Always check your surroundings.
Tire Mobility Kit*
This kit can temporarily seal tire damage. Refer to your Owner's Manual for detailed instructions. Use the 12V/180W power outlet. Drive cautiously at speeds up to 50 mph for a maximum of 120 miles after use.
Quick Tips: The kit is for temporary use on one tire only. Have the tire inspected as soon as possible.
Rear Hatch Release Button
Press the button underneath the Rear Hatch lid to open it after unlocking.
Child Safety Locks
Adjust the switch on the rear passenger doors to the LOCK position to prevent the inner door handles from opening the doors.
Safety
Occupant Detection System (ODS) / PASSENGER AIRBAG OFF Indicator
ODS detects the front passenger's presence and position to adjust or turn off airbag deployment. The "PASSENGER AIRBAG OFF" light illuminates if the system determines the airbag should not deploy.
Safety Belts
- Fastening: Insert the tongue belt plate into the buckle until it clicks. Position the lap belt low on the hips and adjust the shoulder portion for a snug fit.
- Retractor Inertial Locks: Belts remain unlocked for comfort but lock automatically during sudden stops or collisions.

UVO eServices: Avoid distracted driving. Your primary responsibility is safe operation. Do not use handheld devices or systems that divert attention.
TPMS: Regularly check tire pressure, even with TPMS.
Rear-Camera Display: Not a substitute for safe backing procedures. May not display all objects.

Normal Maintenance Schedule
Your Kia dealer offers expert service with factory-trained technicians and genuine Kia parts. Refer to the maintenance chart for recommended service intervals (e.g., 7,500 miles, 15,000 miles, etc.).
Key Maintenance Items Include:
- Inspection: Air cleaner filter, brake systems, chassis, steering, suspension, drive shaft, fuel system, battery, etc.
- Replacement: Engine oil, oil filter, climate control air filter, spark plugs, engine coolant, etc.
