Getting to Know Your Sportage

Instrument Cluster
The instrument cluster provides vital information about your vehicle's operation. Key indicators and gauges include:
- Tachometer: Measures engine speed in revolutions per minute (RPM).
- Speedometer: Displays the vehicle's current speed in miles per hour (MPH) or kilometers per hour (km/h).
- Fuel Gauge: Indicates the amount of fuel remaining in the tank.
- Engine Temperature Gauge: Shows the engine's operating temperature.
- Odometer: Records the total distance the vehicle has traveled.
- Trip Computer: Displays trip-related information such as trip distance, average fuel economy, and elapsed time.
- Indicators & Warning Lights: Various symbols illuminate to alert you to specific system statuses or potential issues (e.g., Check Engine, Low Fuel, Airbag Warning, Seat Belt Reminder).
- Gear Shift Position Indicator: Shows the current gear selection (P, R, N, D, etc.).
Fuel Economy Tips:
- Maintain your vehicle with regular service.
- Avoid prolonged engine idling.
- Drive at moderate speeds with smooth acceleration.
- Ensure tires are properly inflated.
- Avoid carrying unnecessary weight.
- Do not overload roof racks.
- Avoid driving on hilly or poorly maintained roads.
Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS):
- The TPMS indicator alerts you to low tire pressure or a system malfunction.
- Inflate tires to the recommended pressure (found on the driver's door jamb) to turn off the low-pressure warning.
- If the TPMS malfunction indicator blinks, consult your dealer.
- Regularly check tire pressure manually, especially in cold weather.
Active ECO System:
- Activates to optimize drivetrain operation for improved fuel economy.
- Press the Active ECO button to turn it ON or OFF. The green ECO indicator light illuminates when active.
Driver's Panel
The driver's panel houses controls for various vehicle functions:
- Back-Up Warning System (Rear Parking Assist System): Provides audible alerts when the vehicle is in reverse and detects obstacles. Can be turned OFF using the dedicated button.
- Instrument Panel Dimmer: Adjusts the brightness of the instrument cluster illumination.
- Downhill Brake Control (DBC): Automatically applies brakes to assist in maneuvering down steep hills. Activated by pressing the DBC button.
- Electronic Stability Control (ESC): Helps stabilize the vehicle during cornering. It is recommended to keep ESC ON for daily driving. Can be turned OFF/ON using the ESC button.
- Hill-Start Assist Control (HAC): Prevents the vehicle from rolling backward when starting on an incline. Automatically activates under specific conditions.
- Power Windows, Window Lock & Central Door Lock: Controls for all power windows, including a window lock feature for rear passengers. Central door lock buttons allow locking and unlocking of all doors.
- Automatic Door Lock/Unlock: Doors automatically lock when the gear shift is moved into Park and unlock when the shift lever is moved out of Park.
- Heated Outside Mirrors: Mirror heaters are controlled by the rear defroster.
- Power Folding Outside Mirrors: Mirrors can be folded or unfolded using a dedicated button and adjusted using directional controls.
- Engine Start/Stop Button: Allows for keyless ignition. Press the brake pedal and the button to start the engine. Press the button to turn the engine OFF or to access accessory modes (ACC, ON). Requires the Smart Key fob to be present.
Steering Wheel Controls
The steering wheel provides convenient access to various functions:
- Headlights & High Beams: Control headlights (including AUTO function) and high beams via the turn signal lever.
- Turn Signals & Fog Lights: Operate turn signals and fog lights. Includes a one-touch lane change signal feature.
- Daytime Running Lights (DRL): Enhance visibility during daylight hours. Automatically activate under certain conditions.
- Windshield Wipers & Washers: Control wiper speed, intermittent wipe settings, and spray function.
- Rear Wiper & Washer: Operate the rear wiper and washer.
- Tilt/Telescoping Steering Wheel: Allows adjustment of the steering wheel's position for driver comfort. Use the lock-release lever to adjust and then lock the wheel in place.
- Bluetooth® Wireless Technology: Manage phone calls and voice commands. Buttons include Volume, Mute, Talk, Receive/Place Call, and End Call. Features include voice recognition tips and contact sync information.
- Audio Controls: Manage audio sources (FM/AM, SiriusXM, CD, USB, iPod, Aux, Bluetooth), seek stations, adjust volume, and mute audio.
- Cruise Control: Engage, resume, set, and cancel cruise control. Designed to function above approximately 25 mph.
Audio System
The Sportage offers multiple audio system options:
- Standard Audio System: Supports FM/AM/SiriusXM, Media (CD, MP3, USB, iPod, Aux, Bluetooth Audio), and My Music. Includes controls for display, sound settings, and clock setup.
- UVO eServices System: Integrates enhanced connectivity features. Supports various audio sources and includes specific sound and display adjustments.

Aux/USB/iPod® Port & Power Outlets: Located in the center console for connecting external devices and charging. Power outlets are inactive when the ignition is OFF.

Center Panel
Controls for climate and other features are located in the center panel:
- Automatic Climate Control: Features AUTO mode for full automatic operation, manual mode selection for airflow, and Dual Temperature Control. Includes defrost and defog functions for windshields.
- Manual Climate Control: Allows manual adjustment of fan speed, temperature, and airflow modes.
- Automatic Gear Shift with Sportmatic® Shifting: Standard automatic transmission with an option for manual shifting (Sport Mode) via the shift lever.
