WAVLINK AX1800 WiFi Extender: Setup and Configuration Guide

AP Mode Configuration

In AP mode, the WAVLINK device connects to a host router/modem via an Ethernet cable. Once configured, connected clients can access the internet through the WAVLINK device's WiFi signal.

1. Connect your device to the WAVLINK device's WiFi signal, which should be named WAVLINK-xxxxx.
2. Open a web browser and enter either http://waplogin.link or http://192.168.30.1. This will display the login page. Enter admin to log in.
3. Select your country/region and time zone from the provided options.
4. Create a strong password for the management page.
5. Create a WiFi password for the WAVLINK device and click "Save".
6. Verify that devices connected to the WAVLINK WiFi can access the internet.

Router Mode Configuration

In router mode, the WAVLINK device connects to a host router/modem via an Ethernet cable. After configuration, clients can access the internet through the WAVLINK device's WiFi signal.

1. Connect your device to the WAVLINK device's WiFi signal, typically named WAVLINK-xxxxx.
2. Open a web browser and navigate to http://waplogin.link or http://192.168.30.1. Log in using admin.
3. Click the "Switch mode" option and select "Router Mode".
4. Choose your country/region and time zone. Set up the management page password.
5. Select the appropriate WAN type:
   • DHCP: If your modem provides an IP address automatically.
   • PPPoE: If your ISP requires a username and password for connection.
   If unsure, connect a PC directly to your modem via Ethernet. If you can access the internet, select DHCP. If not, select PPPoE.
6. Create a WiFi password for the WAVLINK device.
7. Confirm that internet connectivity is established through the WAVLINK device's WiFi.

Repeater Mode Configuration

In repeater mode, the WAVLINK device establishes a wireless connection with the host router and broadcasts two WiFi signals to expand WiFi coverage.

1. Connect your device to the WAVLINK device's WiFi signal, typically named WAVLINK-xxxxx.
2. Open a web browser and go to http://waplogin.link or http://192.168.30.1. Log in with admin.
3. Click "Switch mode", select "Repeater Mode", and then click "Save".
4. Select your country/region and time zone. Create the management page password.
5. From the list of available wireless signals, select the WiFi signal from your router and click "Next".
6. Enter the WiFi password for your router. Then, create new WiFi passwords for the 2.4G and 5G signals broadcast by the WAVLINK device. Click "Save".
7. Reconnect to the WAVLINK device's WiFi and verify internet access.

Mesh Extender Mode Configuration

In mesh extender mode, models like the 588HX3 can form a mesh system with other compatible WAVLINK mesh devices or create a mesh system with itself.

1. Ensure the mesh extender is in its factory default state. If unsure, press and hold the reset button for 6 seconds to perform a reset.
2. Confirm that the mesh router is already configured and providing internet access via its WiFi signal.
3. Press the pair button on the mesh router. Observe the change in its LED status. Subsequently, press the pair button on the mesh extender for approximately 2 seconds; its LED status should also change, indicating pairing initiation.
4. Wait for about 2-3 minutes. Log in to the mesh router's management page to confirm that the mesh extender has been successfully added to the mesh network.
