Product Overview

A compact, grey electronic module with a Honeywell ESSER logo and 'esserbus transponder IQ8FCT XS' printed on it. It features several ports and connectors.

The IQ8FCT XS functions as a fire control transponder (FCT) for controlling and monitoring external fire protection devices such as fire dampers, or as a technical alarm module (TAL) for monitoring external contacts and controlling external loads. It connects to the esserbus / esserbus-PLus loop of fire control systems like FlexES Control, IQ8Control, and Compact. The module includes an integrated loop isolator, a contact input, a relay output, and a connector for a parallel remote LED indicator. It is powered by the field bus, eliminating the need for external voltage supply.

In FCT mode, a fire control device (e.g., fire damper) is connected to the relay output for control. The input monitors the end positions of this device, configured via runtime settings. In TAL mode, an external contact is monitored via the input. Activation triggers the display of the address and programmed additional text of the corresponding technical alarm module. Monitoring the contact requires an optional module (Part No. 804870) or an external resistor combination. The cable length to the contact can be up to 500 meters.

For external activation status indication, a parallel remote LED indicator (Part No. 781804, 781814, or 801824) can be connected with a cable length up to 100 meters.

The IQ8FCT XS can be mounted in fire alarm control panel housings, switch cabinets on top-hat rails, or in optional surface-mounted housings. Local and regional requirements must be observed when controlling fire protection equipment.

Important Notes

Replacement for Part No. 804869: For standard-compliant control of fire protection equipment, the FCT should be installed directly next to or in the control unit.

The IQ8FCT is not compatible with the following systems: FACP 80, System 3000 (FACP 3007/3008), FACP 8008, FACP 8000 C/M, Extinguishing System 8010.

The device receives power directly via the esserbus® / esserbus®-PLus. An external power supply is not required.
