If your Tone2 Pro audio device becomes unrecognized after a period of non-use when connected to a computer, updating its firmware to version 1.41 or later can resolve this issue.
How to Update to Firmware v1.41
- Connect one end of a USB-C to C cable to a USB-C port on your PC.
- Connect the other end of the USB-C to C cable to the USB-C (USB) port on the Tone2 Pro. Once powered on, ensure the LED lights on the Tone2 Pro indicate it is in volume mode.
- Launch the 'DFU Tool', titled ‘Khadas Tone Firmware Update'. If the 'Device' section within the tool remains empty, it signifies that your Tone2 Pro is not being recognized by your PC.
- To establish recognition, rapidly unplug and replug the USB-C cable connected to your PC until the Tone2 Pro is detected by the system.
- Download the Tone2 Pro v1.41 firmware from the following links:
- https://dl.khadas.com/products/tone2/firmware/tone2_pro/tone2pro-xmos-v1.41-221201.zip (This version supports PCM768 but does not include HID volume control.)
- https://dl.khadas.com/products/tone2/firmware/tone2_pro/tone2pro-xmos-hid-v1.41-221201.zip (This version supports HID volume control but does not include PCM768.)
- In the firmware update tool, click the 'Browse' button and select the downloaded v1.41 firmware file. The 'Upgrade' section will then update to show 'Ready for firmware update', and the firmware file path will be visible in the 'Firmware' field.
- Click the 'Start' button to initiate the firmware burning process. A progress bar will appear next to the 'Start' button, indicating the update's progress. Upon completion, the 'Upgrade' section will display 'Firmware upgrade finished successfully'. To finalize the update, power-cycle your Tone2 Pro by unplugging and replugging its power source. The tool will then reflect the updated firmware version, typically showing 'v1.41' in the 'Current Firmware' field.
