3.3.2. Important Notes – PLEASE READ CAREFULLY
- Change the remote control batteries when the indicator LED gets weak.
- The remote control uses two 1.5V AAA batteries, readily available in supermarkets, drug stores, or electronics stores.
- It is recommended to keep a set of extra batteries ready for replacement.
- To change batteries, open the battery compartment cover and place batteries according to the diagram inside the compartment.
- Do not pull out the antenna with force, as it may break.
- The remote control system is designed to avoid interference with other electric caddies.
- The maximum range of the remote control varies between 80-120 yards, depending on battery charge, obstacles, atmospheric conditions, power lines, and course topography.
- It is strongly recommended to operate the caddy at a maximum range not exceeding 30-50 yards to prevent loss of control.
4. Maintenance and Additional Instructions
4.1. Battery Charging & Maintenance
PLEASE OBEY THESE PRECAUTIONS FOR BATTERY USE & CHARGING:
- Do not charge the battery in a sealed container or in an upside-down position. Charge the battery in a well-ventilated area.
- Do not charge the battery near a heater, where heat may accumulate, or in direct sunshine.
- To prolong the battery's service life, avoid complete discharge and charge the battery after every use. Unplug the battery from the charger once charging is complete. If the trolley is not used for an extended period, charge the battery once a month.
- The battery's red pole is positive (+) and the black pole is negative (-). Ensure correct pole connection during battery replacement to avoid severe damage to your caddy.
- Do not disassemble the battery or throw it into a fire (EXPLOSION!!!).
- NEVER TOUCH THE ELECTRIC POLES OF THE BATTERY!! (SAFETY HAZARD!!)
Connect the battery cable plug with the charger and then plug the charger into an electrical outlet. During the charging cycle, the LED on the charger will show a blinking green light (some models may show a steady red light). Once charging is complete, the light will turn steady green. The charging cycle can last up to 12 hours, depending on the discharge level.
The battery typically holds its charge for several months and does not have a "memory effect," allowing recharging at any discharge level. Fully discharging the battery is not recommended as it shortens its lifespan. The battery has a normal lifespan of 150-200 charges, depending on usage, storage, and maintenance. Before storing for extended periods, fully charge the battery; do not store an empty battery. Replacement batteries are available from authorized Bat-Caddy dealers or Bat-Caddy directly.
Note: Battery life depends on various factors including charge frequency, duration, drainage level, idle time, and storage conditions. Bat-Caddy covers batteries according to its warranty policy.
RECOMMENDATIONS FOR BATTERY CHARGING & MAINTENANCE:
- Fully charge the battery for approximately 12 hours before the first use.
- Do not leave the battery on the charger if not in use for extended periods; remove it after charging is complete.
- The battery may take 2-3 rounds and charging cycles to reach full operating potential.
- Always keep the battery fully charged before each game.
- Never keep the battery connected to the grid during prolonged power outages, as it may be irreversibly damaged.
- Do not fully discharge the battery by "overplaying." Recharge after every 18 holes.
4.2. Test Caddy
a. Testing Environment & Conditions
Perform the first test of the caddy in a wide, safe, and even area, free of obstructions like people, parked vehicles, traffic, furniture, water bodies, steep hills, or cliffs.
b. Manual Control Operation
Test the manual function first: Turn the caddy on. Use the rheostat speed control wheel on the right side of the handle. Pushing the wheel forward (clockwise) controls forward movement. To slow down or stop, turn the wheel backward (counterclockwise).
c. Remote Control Operation
Ensure you are close to the caddy while testing and familiarizing yourself with the remote control. Turn the caddy on, ensuring the rheostat control wheel is in the OFF position. A single touch of the Forward/Backward arrows on the remote initiates movement in that direction; further presses increase speed. To stop, press the round red STOP button. To slow down, press the Reverse Arrow. Brief presses of the left or right arrows initiate turns; the caddy continues straight at the previous speed upon release. Turning characteristics vary with surface, slope, and load.
The remote has a range of approximately 80-120 yards, but operating within 10-30 yards (not exceeding 50 yards) is strongly recommended for reacting to unforeseen events. The caddy will stop if it does not receive a signal for 30-40 seconds. The timed distance control button allows forward movement of 10, 20, or 30 meters/yards. NOTE: Operate near water, creeks, bridges, or public traffic with extreme caution to avoid loss of control and damage. The warranty does not cover accidents or damage from careless operation or loss of control.
4.3. Recommendations for Efficient and Safe Operation
- Be alert and act responsibly, similar to operating a riding cart or motor vehicle. Consumption of alcohol or impairing substances while operating is not recommended.
- Do not operate the caddy with the remote control in narrow, dangerous spaces, near valuables, crowded areas (parking lots, traffic), bag drop-off areas, stores, or driving ranges.
The caddy's balance and front wheel design allow for narrow and responsive turning. However, it may react to uneven weight distribution or slope variations. Ensure the weight in your bag is distributed evenly. When operating by remote control, anticipate slopes to avoid frequent direction corrections. In extreme terrain (uneven, steep, narrow paths, mud, gravel, near hazards), manual control is recommended to prevent collisions. For bumpy terrain, an additional bungee strap may help secure the golf bag.
Avoid or minimize operation on hard, rough surfaces (cart paths, asphalt, gravel roads, roots) to prevent unnecessary wear. The caddy is best operated on soft, smooth surfaces like fairways.
4.4. General Maintenance
Follow these steps for a prolonged and reliable life from your Bat-Caddy:
- Wipe any mud or grass from the frame, wheels, and chassis after every round with a damp cloth or paper towel.
- Do NOT use hoses or high-pressure jet washers to prevent moisture from entering electronic systems, motors, or gearboxes.
- Remove rear wheels every few weeks to clean debris that might cause drag. Apply lubricant (e.g., WD-40) to keep moving parts smooth and corrosion-free.
- Inspect your cart at least annually. Contact the Bat-Caddy Service Center for inspections or repairs.
- Always disconnect the battery when storing the caddy. Store the battery in a warm, dry place (not on concrete) if not planning to use for at least a month, and do not leave it on the charger.
These recommendations will help keep your Bat-Caddy in top condition.

6. Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
In order to provide customers with accurate and in-depth information, please read the answers to the most frequently asked questions below.
Should I charge the battery once I receive the unit?
Bat-Caddy: Our 12V sealed lead acid batteries come mostly fully charged, but we recommend charging them for a full 12 hours before the first use. The charger should show a blinking green or red light while charging, turning steady green when fully charged. Batteries develop their full potential after a few full charging cycles.
How long does the battery last?
Bat-Caddy: Batteries are rated for approximately 27 holes or 6-7 hours of play per charge. This may vary depending on weight and course topography. Recharging after every 18 holes is recommended, as complete drainage significantly reduces battery life.
What do the lights on the handle mean?
Bat-Caddy: The red, yellow, and green LEDs on the handle indicate the battery charge level. When fully charged, all should be lit. As the battery drains, green then yellow will turn off. If only red is on, it's time to recharge.
My caddy has no power when I try to turn it on?
Bat-Caddy: Check if all electrical connections are tight. Also, check the fuse in the red cable of the battery leads within the battery carrying case. If broken, replace it with a standard 35Amp automotive fuse.
My caddy tends to track to one side. What should I do?
Bat-Caddy: Caddies follow weight and slope. If bag weight is unevenly distributed, the caddy will track to that side. Ensure your bag is balanced. Test tracking without the bag on even terrain. Tracking can be adjusted by loosening the front wheel axle and the tracking rod on the right side of the front wheel, shifting the wheel as needed, and tightening screws in reverse order.
Do caddies interfere with each other when playing with other Bat-Caddy carts?
Bat-Caddy: No, the remote controls have slightly different frequencies, so they do not interfere with each other.
I lost my remote control and just received a replacement. How do I reprogram the unit?
Bat-Caddy: To resynchronize a new remote control, turn the caddy on and press either the forward or reverse button on the new remote while aiming it at the caddy for 5-10 seconds until the remote tunes in and the caddy moves.
The manual control function works, but the remote control does not?
Bat-Caddy: Confirm that the rheostat speed knob is in the Off or Stop position. Also, check the batteries in your remote control handset. If it still does not work, open the remote control and check the connections.
The caddy does not respond well to the remote control handset?
Bat-Caddy: Please check the fit and condition of the handset batteries. Ensure you do not exceed the range distance limit.
The trolley stops by itself sometimes?
Bat-Caddy: Check the battery charge level. The controller box has a shut-down function if the battery is too low, the controller is overheating, or the caddy does not receive a signal for 30-40 seconds.
Whom do I contact for service, parts and technical support?
Bat-Caddy: Please contact our Bat-Caddy Service Center at 1-877-815-0809 or 1-888-214-6033 or send an e-mail to batcaddyservice@spacom.com.
