Cover the surface area around the hole with painters' tape to shield area from scratches by slipping drill bit. Step 03 Insert Toggle bolt. a b Step 02 Drill Hole on Tile. Hold the drill TIGHT in position and press gently on tile surface to create a groove then slowly extend the groove to a hole. a The hardest part of drilling this surface is the start. Start drill - c ing at a 30-degree angle to the surface. The goal is it to start etching the glossy surface. b Frequently pause from drilling and dip the tip of the drill bit portion in water. This is to avoid overheating the drill bit and ruining the tip. c Once bit starts to cut, keep the drill slow and steady. Pivot drill to 45, 60 and 90 degrees and continue drilling.Once at 90 degrees continue slowly till you penetrate the backing board to make a nice hole. d For best results: Practice on test material first. Lubricate tip with water. Slow speed and minimum pressure. d Step 04 Insert screws and tighten.
