HomeSeer HS-PA100+ Plug-In Appliance Module
Z-Wave Plus
Introduction
Thank you for purchasing the HomeSeer Plug-in Appliance Module HS-PA100+. This quick-start guide will help you add the module to your Z-Wave network. For the complete user manual, visit: http://www.homeseer.com/support-home.html
Warning
RISK OF FIRE, ELECTRICAL SHOCK & BURNS. DO NOT USE WITH MEDICAL AND LIFE SUPPORT INSTRUMENTS. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO CHANGE THE PLUG IN ANY WAY. No user serviceable parts are in this module.
Z-Wave Network Inclusion
Step 1: Physical Connection
Insert the module's 3-pin plug into an AC outlet. In normal operating mode, the LED on the front panel will be lit.
Step 2: Initiate Inclusion
For HomeSeer Users:
- Option 1 (Recommended): Run Z-Tool+ on your mobile device, press the "Add Device" button, and proceed to Step 3.
- Option 2: Open your HS3 web GUI, navigate to Z-Wave controller management, and click "Add Device" from the actions menu, then proceed to Step 3.
For Non-HomeSeer Users:
Place your network controller into inclusion mode by following the controller manufacturer's instructions.
Step 3: Activate Module
Press the button on the front of your HS-PA100+. If using HomeSeer, check the Z-Tool+ screen or web interface for progress. If inclusion fails, repeat the procedure.
Note on Inclusion Failure
If inclusion fails after the second attempt, first RESET the Plug-in Module using the Z-WAVE NETWORK EXCLUSION procedure below, then repeat the inclusion steps. You may also need to temporarily move the module closer to your controller for inclusion. Once included, you can move the module to its permanent location.
Z-Wave Network Exclusion
By Controller
The Plug-in Module can be excluded from your network by your controller/gateway.
Using HomeSeer System:
- With Z-Tool+: Click the "Red Remove Device" button, then press the button on the module's front. Watch for a success message.
- With HomeSeer Web Interface: Select the Plug-ins menu, then Z-Wave, then Controller Management. From the Actions drop list, select "Remove/Exclude Node", then click "Start".
Using Other Controllers:
Initiate the Z-Wave device remove procedure on your controller and then press the button on the HS-PA100+. Refer to your controller/gateway's manual for details.
Manual Reset to Factory Defaults
Procedure:
- Step 1: Unplug the HS-PA100+ from the AC outlet. Also, unplug any connected devices from the module.
- Step 2: Press and hold the button on the HS-PA100+.
- Step 3: While holding the button, plug the HS-PA100+ back into the AC outlet.
- Step 4: After 3 seconds, release the button. If the button blinks, the module has been reset successfully. You can now retry the inclusion process (Step 3 in Z-Wave Network Inclusion). Otherwise, repeat the manual reset procedure.
Note on Reset vs. Exclusion
Resetting the module locally does not remove it from your Z-Wave network. To remove it from the network, you must perform the exclusion procedure via your controller.
Basic Operation
Connected lighting devices can be controlled manually via the module's push button, a smartphone, or a Home Automation system like HomeSeer. Once added to your network, you can assign the module to a Group or Scene and change its status through your controller/gateway.
Association
The Plug-in Module supports Group 1 for lifeline communication with up to five devices. Group 1 should be assigned the Node ID of the controller for sending unsolicited notifications. HomeSeer automatically sets this association after inclusion; other Z-Wave+ controllers should do the same. Lifeline association only supports the "manual reset" event. The module's status upon receiving an "All ON" or "All OFF" command from the controller can be configured. Refer to your gateway or remote controller's manual for details.
Important Note
To minimize the risk of electric shock, the module's power plug has a grounding pin designed for a 3-prong electrical outlet. If your outlet is not grounded, please consult a qualified electrician to replace it. The lighting devices connected to this Z-Wave module must not exceed the following limits: 15A, 1800W resistive load, 900W incandescent, 200W dimmable CFL/LED, or ½ horsepower motor.
