Getting Started
Unpack
Carefully unpack the Minelab SDC 2300 detector and its accessories.
Insert Batteries
Open the battery compartment and insert the required batteries. Ensure correct polarity.
Connect Headphones
Plug your headphones into the designated headphone jack on the detector for audio feedback.
Pack Up
When finished, safely pack up the detector and accessories.
Setup and Configuration
Step 1: Set Sensitivity
Adjust the detector's sensitivity to the desired standard level. This typically involves turning a control dial.
Step 2: Turn On
Power on the detector by pressing the power button.
Step 3: Noise Cancel
Perform a noise cancellation procedure to minimize interference. This process may take approximately 50 seconds and involves listening for audio signals.
Step 4: Set Threshold
Adjust the threshold, which controls the background hum or tone of the detector, to a comfortable listening level.
Step 5: Ground Balance
Perform a ground balance procedure. This involves holding the coil approximately 100 mm (4 inches) above the ground and maintaining this position for about 10 seconds to calibrate the detector to the ground conditions.
Step 6: Start Detecting
Once setup is complete, you are ready to begin detecting.
Detecting Basics
Sweep Level
Sweep the detector coil slowly and steadily over the ground for optimal detection.
Coil to Ground Clearance
Maintain the coil parallel to the ground and at a consistent height. Keep other metal objects away from the detector coil.
Overlap Sweep
Ensure your sweeps overlap each other to cover the search area thoroughly.
Distance from Other Detectors
When detecting with others, maintain a recommended distance of at least 15 meters (45 feet) between detectors to avoid interference.
Refill Hole
After recovering an object, remember to refill any holes you have dug.
Compliance and Information
The detector is certified with EAC and CE markings, indicating compliance with relevant standards.
