Configuring Network Access
Scenario 1: Pairing with a HUAWEI HiLink router
HUAWEI HiLink routers are HUAWEI routers or 4G routers with the HiLink feature.
1. Placement: Place the WiFi extender within one meter of your HUAWEI HiLink router and connect the power supply.
Diagram Description: Shows a HUAWEI HiLink router with internet access placed near a new or factory reset WiFi extender, within one meter.
2. Pairing: Press the WPS or H/Hi button to pair your HUAWEI HiLink router with the extender.
a. Wait approximately one minute for the indicator on your HUAWEI HiLink router to start flashing, indicating it has discovered the WiFi extender.
b. Press and release the WPS or H/Hi button on your router to start pairing. The router's indicator should flash faster, indicating pairing is in progress.
3. Confirmation: Wait until the indicator on the WiFi extender turns steady green, indicating it is connected to the network.
4. Final Placement: Place the WiFi extender in a room with weak signal strength. It is recommended that the extender and router are on the same floor with no more than two walls between them. A steady green indicator confirms connection to your Wi-Fi network, with Wi-Fi name and password synced from the router.
Diagram Description: Shows the HUAWEI HiLink router and WiFi extender communicating. An arrow indicates unplugging and moving the extender to another room.
Scenario 2: Pairing with other routers
Ensure the router is able to access the Internet.
1. Install the HUAWEI SmartHome app: Scan the [QR code] or search for "HUAWEI SmartHome" in your app store to download and install the latest version.
2. Connect to Extender's Wi-Fi: Connect your WiFi extender to the power supply. Then, connect your phone to the extender's Wi-Fi network. No password is required. The Wi-Fi name is printed on the WiFi extender's information label (e.g., HUAWEI-XXXXXX).
Diagram Description: Shows a phone displaying "HUAWEI-XXXXXX connected" for Wi-Fi.
3. Configure via App: Open the HUAWEI SmartHome app. The app should automatically discover the new device. Touch CONFIGURE > SET UP. If the app fails to discover the device, add it manually.
Diagram Description: Shows app interface with buttons "LATER", "CONFIGURE", "SET UP". User touches "CONFIGURE" then "SET UP".
4. Network Setup: From the Wi-Fi network list, select your Wi-Fi network, enter its password, and follow the onscreen instructions to complete the setup. You may be prompted to use your Wi-Fi password as the router admin password.
Diagram Description: Shows a Wi-Fi network list with names like "Tom", "Lucy", "Jack". User selects a network and enters a password. Buttons "CANCEL", "CONNECT" are shown.
5. Final Placement: Place the WiFi extender in a room with weak signal strength (refer to Step 4 of Scenario 1 for placement recommendations).
