Gira Home Server

Controlling intelligent home technology made simple and mobile

Introduction

The Gira HomeServer is the on-board computer for an intelligent house. It acts as the interface between modern electrical installation and the computer network, controlling all components of home technology networked via the KNX/EIB system. It enables the integration of a wide range of additional technologies such as door intercoms, cameras, or audio systems into the home control. Thanks to the Internet connection, all functions can be conveniently accessed using a wide variety of operating devices – at home and while away.

With innovative solutions and a unique degree of flexibility, the Gira HomeServer sets new standards for intelligent home networking. In combination with the KNX/EIB installation, a wide diversity of applications can be easily implemented. These applications ensure more convenience, increased security, and improved energy efficiency, and are perfectly matched to the individual desires and requirements of occupants.

Diverse application possibilities include central control of lighting, blinds, and heating; room scenes; multimedia entertainment; panic switching; occupied-home simulation; energy management; and evaluation of consumption data. Nearly all conceivable functions can be implemented.

Coming-Home greeting scene

When the front door is opened, a greeting scene can be started automatically or via a button press, adapted to occupants' needs. This can include activating a lighting mood, playing music, and pre-heating the bathroom.

[Image: A screenshot showing the "Scenes" menu with options like Relaxation, Visitor, Party, TV, Dinner, Music, Read, each with "Call up" and "Learn" buttons.]

Central control of the complete home technology

Gira Control Clients provide an overview of complete home technology. All functions like light, blinds, and heating can be conveniently controlled from a central location. The Gira Interface enables rapid access to diverse applications.

[Image: A screenshot showing heating control for various rooms (Living room, Bedroom, Kitchen, etc.) with operating modes (Comfort, Standby, Night) and target temperatures.]

Perfectly comfortable temperatures in all rooms

The ideal temperature varies by season and preference. Single-room control and time-dependent heating control ensure the right temperature everywhere, exactly when needed.

Creating and calling up individual scenes

Lighting, blinds, heating, and music control can be linked into complex scenarios, combined individually, and modified. For example, a scene can start when the TV is switched on, adjusting shading, lighting, and music volume.

All functions conveniently remote-controlled

All intelligent functions can be remote-controlled via iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, whether at home, on the go, or at the office. The Gira HomeServer/FacilityServer app provides access, adapted to the specific display size.

Increased security

The possibilities of intelligent home technology

The Gira HomeServer ensures security with functions for burglary, fire, and severe weather protection. It offers solutions for panic switching, discreet camera surveillance, central circuit breakers, occupied-house simulation, and more.

[Image: A screenshot showing the "Door communication" interface with a live video feed from an outdoor camera.]

The complete property in view

View any area of the property via Gira Control Clients, computers, or mobile devices. Cameras can be integrated into home control. If a motion detector is triggered, camera images can be recorded and saved.

[Image: A screenshot showing a fault message displayed for the heating system.]

Security in case of technical defects

Sensors monitor appliances like stoves, refrigerators, and washing machines. If a leak occurs or a system fails, the Gira HomeServer sends a fault message, allowing occupants to react promptly.

[Image: An image of a hand pressing a panic switch.]

A sense of security thanks to panic switching

A panic switch can immediately turn on all lighting and initiate camera recording if suspicious noises or movements are detected, deterring potential intruders.

[Image: An image of a Gira smoke detector.]

Warding away dangers from smoke and fire

If a smoke detector registers fire, the Gira HomeServer takes countermeasures: blinds and shutters are raised, the front door unlocked, and escape route lights switched on. Occupants are alerted via call or text message.

[Image: An image showing heavy rain and wind against a window, illustrating protection in severe weather.]

Protection in severe weather and storms

In case of high wind speeds, the system ensures the house is storm-ready by automatically retracting awnings, closing windows and garage doors, and lowering shutters facing the wind.

[Image: A close-up of a Gira wall switch labeled "Central Off".]

Switching off all electric devices with a single press of a button

The Central Off function in the entrance area switches off all power-hungry devices, eliminating worries about leaving appliances on. This function can be coupled to the locking system.

[Image: A screenshot showing lighting and blind control settings for different rooms, with dates and times.]

Occupied-home simulation for holidays

This feature realistically replicates user behavior to deter burglars by automatically opening/closing blinds and switching lights on/off at varied times.

[Image: An image of a person at a door intercom system.]

See who is at the door

Monitor the front door situation via Gira Control Clients or computer when the doorbell rings. Integrate multiple cameras to view different areas like the courtyard entrance or back door.

Improved energy efficiency

The possibilities of intelligent home technology

The Gira HomeServer aids in saving money and protecting the environment through up-to-date energy management. Energy consumption is minimized due to the interaction of functions, sensors, and time-controlled settings, adapted to individual requirements. Consumption values can be monitored via clear graphs.

[Image: An energy consumption graph showing electricity usage over time.]

Central energy management

Use energy only when and where needed. Intelligent interaction of functions and devices, controlled by time and requirements, increases convenience and safety while saving energy.

[Image: A screenshot of the heating control interface, showing target and actual temperatures for various rooms.]

Window open, heating off

Door and window contacts register when they are opened. Heating is automatically reduced in the corresponding room and only resumes once all openings are closed, preventing unnecessary heating.

[Image: A screenshot showing heating control for various rooms (Living room, Bedroom, Kitchen, etc.) with operating modes (Comfort, Standby, Night) and target temperatures.]

Energy-efficient individual room regulation

Create user profiles for each room with specific heating or ventilation times. Individual temperature regulation, for example with the Gira push button sensor 3 Plus, ensures precise control and energy savings.

[Image: A screenshot showing a Gira room temperature controller and an ambient air sensor.]

Temperature control according to requirements

Temperature sensors and positioning motors on heating valves detect if the flow temperature is too high or too low. The system automatically corrects this based on the average outside temperature, optimizing energy utilization and avoiding unnecessary costs.

[Image: An image showing blinds being adjusted in a room with sunlight.]

The perfect interaction of blinds and heating

Integrate solar energy into temperature control. In winter, blinds are raised and heating minimized. In summer, blinds are lowered automatically to avoid unnecessary air conditioning use.

[Image: An image of a Gira motion detector on a wall.]

Automatic light control

Presence and motion detectors switch lights on when needed and off when no movement is detected. Brightness sensors ensure the precise level of light output required.

[Image: A close-up of a Gira wall switch labeled "Central Off".]

Central Off function

The Central Off function allows all power-hungry devices to be switched off with a single button press, preventing unnecessary electricity consumption. It can be coupled to the locking system.

[Image: An energy consumption graph showing Gas, Water, and Electricity usage.]

Consumption data always ready at hand

The Gira HomeServer continuously records operating and consumption data for electricity, water, heating oil, and gas. Concise graphs show trends, and the energy module quickly detects deviations from average consumption, allowing for optimized energy management.
