Product Components
The microscope set includes the following main components:
Microscope Parts:
- 1. Eyepiece
- 2. Focus knob
- 3. Objective turret (with multiple objectives)
- 4. Stage (with clips)
- 5. Mirror (for illumination)
- 6a. LED Lamp (Electric light source)
- 6b. Light on/off switch
- 7. Battery compartment
- 8. Rubber base
- 9. Microscope arm
- 10. Microscope body
Included Accessories:
- 11. Prepared slide(s)
- 12. Cover slips & adhesive labels
- 13. Blank slides
- 14. Empty collecting jars
- 15. Magnifying glass
- 16. LR41 batteries (may be included or required)
- 17. Carrying case
- 18. Cylinder (e.g., test tube)
- 19. Dissection needle
- 20. Pipette
- 21. Textile sample (4 different fibres)
- 22. Colour filter wheel
The microscope uses a system of lenses (eyepiece and objective) to magnify specimens. The objective lens magnifies the specimen, and the eyepiece further magnifies this image for viewing.
Assembly and Location
Choose a stable, well-lit location for microscopy. Ensure the room can be darkened for projector observation if needed. Place the microscope on a flat, stable surface to ensure good results.
Operation
Normal Observation
Place the microscope in a bright area. Tilt the arm for a comfortable viewing position. Set the focus knob to its upper limit and the objective turret to the lowest magnification. Look through the eyepiece and adjust the mirror (5) or use the LED lamp (6a) to create a uniformly bright circle of light. Place a prepared slide (11) on the stage (4) under the objective. Adjust the focus knob slowly to sharpen the image. Higher magnifications may require more light.
TIP: Avoid directing the mirror towards direct sunlight, as it can cause glare and obscure the image.
Electric Illumination
For first use, gently pull the battery insulation from the LED lamp. Two LR41 batteries (1.5V) are required and are installed in the mirror/LED lamp unit (7). Remove the unit, loosen the side screw, insert batteries according to +/- indicators, reattach the cover, and secure the screw. Reinsert the unit. Turn on the light using switch (6b). Adjust illumination for optimal brightness.
TIP: Higher magnification requires more light. Start experiments with lower magnifications.
Specimen Preparation
Making Thin Specimen Slices
This should be done with adult supervision. For thin slices, heat wax or paraffin (e.g., from a candle) gently. Dip the object multiple times in the liquid wax, let it solidify, then cut thin slices with a knife or scalpel. Place slices on a glass slide and cover with a cover slip.
Making Your Own Specimens
Place the object on a glass slide (13). Add a drop of distilled water with a pipette. Hold a cover slip (12) vertically at the edge of the water drop, allowing water to spread. Slowly lower the cover slip over the water.

Troubleshooting
Error: No recognizable image
Solution:
- Turn on the light.
- Readjust focus.
Care and Maintenance
Clean lenses (eyepiece and objective) only with the provided lens cloth or a soft, lint-free cloth. Do not press hard to avoid scratches. For heavy dirt, moisten the cloth with cleaning fluid and wipe gently. Protect the microscope from dust and moisture. After use, let it dry in a warm room, then replace dust caps and store in the carrying case.
