SCHMETZ NEEDLES MARCH 2025

On the Road: SCHMETZ Classes with Rhonda Pierce

Discover opportunities to expand your sewing horizons with SCHMETZ classes led by Rhonda Pierce at the Original Sewing & Quilt Expo. These hands-on classes cover a variety of fabrics, including cotton, knit with sequins, cork, quilted fabric, Cuddle®, vinyl, and fleece. Participants will test different needle types and sizes.

Two 90-minute classes are offered: 'Piecing & Quilting' and 'Sewing with Knits & Specialty Fabrics'. These are based on a popular 3-hour class held annually at the International Quilt Festival in Houston. A 60-minute lecture is also available for those with less time. The primary goal of these sessions is to increase confidence in sewing machine needle selection.

SCHMETZ Quick Threading Needles

Introducing the SCHMETZ Quick Threading Needle, a Universal needle featuring an easy-to-thread slot in the eye. This needle is designed for convenience, especially for those with low vision, poor hand dexterity, or machines without a threader.

Multilingual Names:
English: Quick Threading Needles
French: Aiguilles à Enfilage Facile
Spanish: Agujas de Enhebrado Facil
German term: ÖHRISCHLITZ (eye slit)

Usage Recommendations:
• Reduce sewing speed to prevent thread pop-out.
• Avoid use on sensitive fabrics, as the slot may snag.
• Do not use for quilting, as batting may pull through the slot.
• Do not use for denim, as the eye structure is not strong enough.

Technical Specifications:
• Needle System: 705 HDK
• Point: Slightly Rounded Point
• Eye: With Open Slot
• Sizes: 80/12, 90/14
• Use with: Wovens and knits (always test first).
