Description of Components

The appliance features the following components:

What are the Pinguino and SuperPinguino?

During summer, comfortable temperatures range from 24-27°C with around 50% relative humidity. An air conditioning unit removes excess moisture and heat from a room.

Portable air conditioning units, unlike installed models, offer the advantage of being easily moved between rooms or buildings.

The unit works by passing room air through a coil cooled by refrigerant gas, removing heat and moisture before re-emitting the air.

In single-unit models (Pinguino), a small portion of this air cools the refrigerant gas and is then discharged outside. In models with a separate case (SuperPinguino), the cooling circuit uses outside air.

All Pinguino and SuperPinguino models can also be used in fan-only mode.

Preparing for Use

Electrical Connections

Before plugging in, ensure:

The power cable must only be replaced by a qualified professional.

Before use, ensure air intake and outlet grilles are unobstructed.

Air-Conditioning Without Installation

Follow these simple steps for comfort:

Keep air hoses as short and free of curves as possible to avoid constrictions.

Air-Conditioning With Installation

The Pinguino can be installed semi-permanently:

Keep air hoses as short and free of curves as possible to avoid constrictions.

Fit the flange accessory (20) provided in the hole.

Dehumidifying

Place the appliance in the room without fitting the hose. Dehumidified air is released directly into the atmosphere. Cold air exits the front grill, and hot air exits the back grill.

Diagram G illustrates air flow: cold air from the front, hot air from the back.

An optional second hose can be used to draw air from outside rather than inside the room.

Turning On and Selecting Functions

How to Use as an Air Conditioner

When the unit is off, the function selector is in the "O" position. To use in air conditioning mode:

  1. Turn the function selector knob clockwise:
    • Align the large crystal symbol with the reference mark for maximum fan speed.
    • Align the small crystal symbol with the reference mark for minimum fan speed.
  2. Set the desired temperature using the room thermostat dial.

Note: Temperatures are not indicated in degrees. Set the thermostat to maximum cold, then slowly turn it anticlockwise until the unit switches off. This sets the desired comfort level, which the thermostat will automatically maintain, saving energy. The unit will then operate in fan-only mode when the set temperature is reached.

Condensate Recycling

This appliance uses a condensate recycling system to eliminate excess moisture. Under normal conditions, condensate is eliminated automatically. If humidity is high, the tank may fill, indicated by light (17). Empty the tank. Ensure the tank is correctly re-inserted, or light (17) will remain on.

How to Use as a Fan

To use the appliance as a fan only, turn the function selector (14) anticlockwise to the [fan symbol].

How to Use as a Dehumidifier

While air conditioning, the unit also reduces excess moisture. To remove moisture without lowering temperature, remove the air exhaust hose and turn the function selector anticlockwise to the [droplet symbol].

Note: In dehumidifying mode, air from the discharge grill is cooler than room air, while air from the hose housing (4) is hotter.

Mode Selection/Indicator Lights

To turn the appliance off completely, set the function selector to "O" and unplug from the mains. There may be a slight delay before a selected mode starts.

The indicator lights show the unit's operation:

MODE INDICATOR LIGHT 11 INDICATOR LIGHT 12 INDICATOR LIGHT 13

* Light comes on three minutes after starting (compressor operation) and goes off when the set temperature is reached.

** Light comes on three minutes after starting (compressor operation). In air conditioning mode, it operates continuously. If the temperature is too low, frost prevention will turn off operation.

Tips for Optimal Use

Follow these recommendations for best performance:

Cleaning

Always turn off and unplug the appliance before cleaning or maintenance.

Cleaning the Cabinet

Clean the appliance with a slightly damp cloth, then dry with a dry cloth. Never wash the unit with water for safety reasons.

Precautions: Never use petrol, alcohol, solvents, or insecticide sprays for cleaning.

Cleaning the Air Filters

To maintain efficiency, clean the dust filter every week of operation. The filter is in the intake grille.

  1. Remove the intake grille by rotating outwards.
  2. Diagram L shows the intake grille being rotated outwards.

  3. Remove the dust filter by detaching it from the grille.
  4. Diagram M shows the dust filter detached from the intake grille.

Use a vacuum cleaner for dust. If very dirty, immerse in warm water (max 40°C) and rinse. Leave to dry. Replace filters and reattach the grille.

Start of Season Checks

Ensure the power cable and plug are undamaged and the earth system is efficient. Follow installation instructions precisely.

End of Season Operations

To empty the internal circuit of water, turn the function selector to PUMP until you hear the pump gurgling. Water drains into the tank (7) or via the continuous drain hose (6) if connected. Ensure the hose leads to a drain. When drained, disconnect the hose. Clean and dry filters before storage.

Guarantee and Technical Specification

Guarantee and technical assistance conditions are provided on the certificate supplied with the appliance.

Limit Conditions

Technical Specification

Transport, filling, cleaning, recovery, and disposal of refrigerant must be performed by a manufacturer-appointed technical service centre. The appliance should be disposed of by a specialist centre.

Electrical Connection (U.K. ONLY)

A) If your appliance has a plug: It includes a 13 Amp fuse. If it doesn't fit your socket, cut off the plug and fit an appropriate one. Warning: Dispose of the cut-off plug carefully after removing the fuse; do not insert it into another 13 Amp socket as this could cause a shock hazard. If using plugs without a fuse, the circuit must be protected by a 15 Amp fuse. For moulded plugs, ensure the fuse cover is replaced when changing the fuse with a 13 Amp Asta approved fuse (BS 1362). If the fuse cover is lost, do not use the plug until a replacement cover is obtained.

B) If your appliance is not fitted with a plug: Follow these instructions.
