What are the Pinguino and SuperPinguino?
During summer, comfortable temperatures range from 24-27°C with around 50% relative humidity. An air conditioning unit removes excess moisture and heat from a room.
Portable air conditioning units, unlike installed models, offer the advantage of being easily moved between rooms or buildings.
The unit works by passing room air through a coil cooled by refrigerant gas, removing heat and moisture before re-emitting the air.
In single-unit models (Pinguino), a small portion of this air cools the refrigerant gas and is then discharged outside. In models with a separate case (SuperPinguino), the cooling circuit uses outside air.
All Pinguino and SuperPinguino models can also be used in fan-only mode.

Preparing for Use
Electrical Connections
Before plugging in, ensure:
- The mains power supply matches the appliance's rating plate.
- The mains socket and electrical circuit are adequate.
- The mains socket matches the plug; if not, have the plug replaced.
- The mains socket is adequately earthed. Failure to follow these instructions absolves the manufacturer of liability.
The power cable must only be replaced by a qualified professional.
Before use, ensure air intake and outlet grilles are unobstructed.
Air-Conditioning Without Installation
Follow these simple steps for comfort:
- Attach the air discharge hose (21) into the housing (4) at the back of the appliance.
- Fit the window outlet (22) to the end of the hose (21).
- Place the unit near a window or French window.
- Ensure the air exhaust hose is unobstructed.
- Open the window or French window slightly and position the outlet (22) as shown.
- For double windows, use the provided suckers (23) to secure the window parts together.
Diagram A shows the hose being inserted into the back housing.
Diagram B shows the window outlet positioned in a slightly open window.
Diagram C shows suckers used to hold a double window closed around the hose outlet.
Keep air hoses as short and free of curves as possible to avoid constrictions.
Air-Conditioning With Installation
The Pinguino can be installed semi-permanently:
- Attach the hose (21) to the special housing at the back of the appliance.
- Fit the end of the hose (21) to the flange (20).
- Drill a hole in an outside wall or window pane, respecting the height and dimensions shown in diagrams E and F.
- When the hose is not fitted, the hole can be closed with the flange cap (20).
- Note: When installing semi-permanently, leave a door slightly open (approx. 1 cm) for ventilation.
Diagram F shows the hose connected to a flange, with dimensions indicated: MIN 35 cm, MAX 100 cm for hose length, and a 106 mm hole diameter.
Diagram E illustrates hole placement in a window pane, wooden frame, or insulated wall.
Keep air hoses as short and free of curves as possible to avoid constrictions.
Fit the flange accessory (20) provided in the hole.
Dehumidifying
Place the appliance in the room without fitting the hose. Dehumidified air is released directly into the atmosphere. Cold air exits the front grill, and hot air exits the back grill.
Diagram G illustrates air flow: cold air from the front, hot air from the back.
An optional second hose can be used to draw air from outside rather than inside the room.
Turning On and Selecting Functions
How to Use as an Air Conditioner
When the unit is off, the function selector is in the "O" position. To use in air conditioning mode:
- Turn the function selector knob clockwise:
- Align the large crystal symbol with the reference mark for maximum fan speed.
- Align the small crystal symbol with the reference mark for minimum fan speed.
- Set the desired temperature using the room thermostat dial.
Note: Temperatures are not indicated in degrees. Set the thermostat to maximum cold, then slowly turn it anticlockwise until the unit switches off. This sets the desired comfort level, which the thermostat will automatically maintain, saving energy. The unit will then operate in fan-only mode when the set temperature is reached.
Condensate Recycling
This appliance uses a condensate recycling system to eliminate excess moisture. Under normal conditions, condensate is eliminated automatically. If humidity is high, the tank may fill, indicated by light (17). Empty the tank. Ensure the tank is correctly re-inserted, or light (17) will remain on.
How to Use as a Fan
To use the appliance as a fan only, turn the function selector (14) anticlockwise to the [fan symbol].
How to Use as a Dehumidifier
While air conditioning, the unit also reduces excess moisture. To remove moisture without lowering temperature, remove the air exhaust hose and turn the function selector anticlockwise to the [droplet symbol].
Note: In dehumidifying mode, air from the discharge grill is cooler than room air, while air from the hose housing (4) is hotter.
Mode Selection/Indicator Lights
To turn the appliance off completely, set the function selector to "O" and unplug from the mains. There may be a slight delay before a selected mode starts.
The indicator lights show the unit's operation:
MODE | INDICATOR LIGHT 11 | INDICATOR LIGHT 12 | INDICATOR LIGHT 13 |
---|---|---|---|
OFF | - | - | - |
AIR CONDITIONING | on* | off | off |
DEHUMIDIFYING | off | on** | off |
FAN | - | - | on |
* Light comes on three minutes after starting (compressor operation) and goes off when the set temperature is reached.
** Light comes on three minutes after starting (compressor operation). In air conditioning mode, it operates continuously. If the temperature is too low, frost prevention will turn off operation.
Tips for Optimal Use
Follow these recommendations for best performance:
- Close windows and doors in the room being air-conditioned, unless installed through a wall, in which case a slight draught is recommended for ventilation.
