The Brave 6 Plus camera has the following components:

Note: The camera does not record sound when inside the waterproof case.

The preview screen displays the following information:

Getting Started
Memory Card
Use a brand memory card that meets these requirements:
- U3
- Capacity up to 128 GB
Note:
- (1) Format the memory card in the camera before use. Regularly reformatting helps maintain the card's condition. Back up your photos and videos before reformatting as it erases all content.
- (2) A FAT32 formatted memory card will stop recording when a file reaches 4GB and then resume on a new file.
- (3) Using a memory card with a capacity higher than required may lead to recognition issues or camera malfunctions.
Powering On / Off
To Power On: Press and hold the power button for 3 seconds. You will hear a beep and see the status indicator light up. The screen will display information when the camera is on.
To Power Off: Press and hold the power button for 3 seconds. You will hear a beep and the status indicator will turn off.
Changing the View Mode
To change the view mode, access the mode menu and select "Video" or "Photo". You can then choose your desired video or photo mode. You can also use the Up and Down buttons to cycle through modes.
Accessing the Mode Menu
Ensure the camera is on the preview screen. Tap the mode icon at the bottom of the screen or press the power button. To exit the mode menu, tap the 'X' icon in the top right corner.
Video Modes: Normal, Loop Recording, Time Lapse Video, Slow Motion Video, Still Photo, Unique Photo, Burst Photo, Time Lapse Photo, Timer, Long Exposure, and Wifi.
Photo Modes: Unique Photo, Burst Photo, Time Lapse Photo, Timer, Long Exposure.
Wi-Fi Activation and Deactivation
To activate Wi-Fi, turn on the camera and press and hold the Wi-Fi button or tap the Wi-Fi icon in the mode menu. To deactivate Wi-Fi, simply press the Wi-Fi button again.
Zooming In or Out
On the preview screen, press the "Up" button to zoom in and the "Down" button to zoom out. You can also use the "+" or "-" icons. The Brave 6 Plus can zoom up to 8X.
Accessing Playback Mode
On the preview screen, press and hold the "Down" button or tap the playback icon in the bottom left corner to enter playback mode.
Accessing Settings
On the preview screen, press and hold the Up button or tap the settings icon in the bottom right corner to access the settings menu. Here you can configure photo, video, and system settings.
Using the Shutter Button
In Photo or Video mode, press the shutter button to take a photo or start video recording. Press it again to stop recording in Video mode.
Accessing the Playback Screen
On the preview screen, press and hold the "Down" button or tap the playback icon in the bottom left corner. You can then view or delete videos and photos. To exit playback, tap the "Back" icon in the top right corner.
Indicators
- Power Indicator: Solid blue when the camera is on. Flashes once when taking photos and continuously flashes during video recording.
- Charging Indicator: Solid red while charging. Turns off when fully charged.
- Wi-Fi Indicator: Flashes blue when Wi-Fi is active and stays solid when connected.
Modes Overview
The camera offers 11 modes:
- Normal Video: The camera defaults to video mode upon powering on. Press the shutter button to start recording and press it again to stop. Use the '+' or '-' icons to adjust zoom.
- Loop Recording: Records video in a loop for a set duration.
- Time Lapse Video: Records videos at 30 frames per second, capturing images at specific intervals to create a fast-motion effect.
- Slow Motion Video: Records videos at specific resolutions and speeds. For example, 2.7K 2X captures a one-minute video that plays back as a two-minute slow-motion video.
- Still Photo: Captures a still image at a set interval during video recording.
- Unique Photo: Takes a single photo at the defined resolution.
- Burst Photo: Captures 3, 5, or 10 photos per second consecutively.
- Time Lapse Photo: Captures a series of photos at a set interval.
- Timer: Starts a countdown before taking a photo.
- Long Exposure: Continuously captures photos at a set interval for a specified exposure time, ideal for various lighting conditions.
- Wi-Fi: Activates Wi-Fi and displays Wi-Fi information.
Personalization of Your Brave 6 Plus
Video Settings
- Video Resolution: 4K 30fps, 2.7K 60fps/30fps, 1080P 120fps/60fps/30fps, 720P 240fps/120fps/60fps (Default: 4K 30fps). Higher resolutions offer better clarity but result in larger files.
- Image Stabilization: On/Off (Default: Off). Electronic Image Stabilization (EIS 2.0) reduces shakiness for smoother videos. It's ideal for activities like cycling and skateboarding. Note: EIS is disabled at frame rates over 60fps, or when distortion calibration and inversion are active, or in Time Lapse and Slow Motion modes.
- Loop Duration: 1 Minute / 3 Minutes / 5 Minutes / 10 Minutes (Default: 1 Minute). Sets the duration for loop recordings. New files overwrite older ones when storage is full. Note: Loop duration only applies to Loop Recording mode.
- Time Interval: Off / 1 Second / 2 Seconds / 5 Seconds / 10 Seconds / 30 Seconds / 1 Minute (Default: 1 Second). Specifies the interval for capturing video frames. Ideal for dynamic scenes like clouds or sunsets. Note: Time-lapse videos are recorded without audio and only function in Time Lapse Video mode.
- Slow Motion: 2.7K 2X / 1080P 4X/2X / 720P 8X/4X/2X (Default: 2.7K 2X). Choose resolution and speed for slow-motion videos. Note: Slow motion only functions in Slow Motion mode.
- Still Photo Timer: 3 Seconds / 5 Seconds / 10 Seconds / 30 Seconds (Default: 3 Seconds). Sets the interval for capturing still photos during video recording. Note: This option only functions in Still Photo mode.
- Microphone: Built-in / External (Default: Built-in). Choose between the internal microphone or an external one.
- Audio Recording: On/Off (Default: Off). Disable to record videos without sound. Note: This option functions in Video and Loop recording modes.
- Exposure Value: -2 to 2 (Default: 0.0). Adjusts exposure based on specific zones of the image.
- Metering: Center / Multi / Place (Default: Multi). Sets the metering mode for different scenes.
Photo Settings
- Photo Resolution: 20MP / 16MP / 12MP / 8MP (Default: 20 MP). Higher resolution provides more detail but larger file sizes.
- Output Format: JPEG / JPEG+DNG (Default: JPEG). DNG (Digital Negative) is a lossless raw image format.
- Timer: 1 Second / 3 Seconds / 5 Seconds / 10 Seconds / 30 Seconds (Default: 1 Second). Sets the countdown for timed photos. Note: Only functions in Timer mode.
- Time Interval: Off / 3 Seconds / 5 Seconds / 10 Seconds / 30 Seconds / 1 Minute (Default: 3 Seconds). Sets the interval for capturing photos in accelerated photo mode. Note: Only functions in Time Lapse Photo mode.
- Burst Photo: Off / 3 Shots / 5 Shots / 10 Shots (Default: 3 Shots). Sets the number of consecutive photos. Note: Only functions in Burst Photo mode.
- Long Exposure: Off / 1 Second / 2 Seconds / 5 Seconds / 8 Seconds / 30 Seconds / 60 Seconds (Default: 1 Second). Sets the exposure time for long exposure shots. Note: Only functions in Long Exposure mode.
- Exposure Value: -2 to 2 (Default: 0.0). Adjusts exposure based on specific zones of the image.
- ISO: Auto / 100 / 200 / 400 / 600 / 800 / 1600 / 3200 (Default: Auto). Controls sensitivity to light and image noise.
- Metering: Center / Multi / Place (Default: Multi). Sets the metering mode for different scenes.
- Photo Quality: High / Medium / Low (Default: High). Determines the level of detail in photos.
System Settings
- Sounds: Shutter, Startup Tone, Touch Tone, Volume can be enabled/disabled or adjusted.
- Perspective: Super Wide / Wide / Medium / Narrow (Default: Super Wide). Adjusts the field of view.
- Voice Control: On/Off (Default: Off). Allows voice commands for camera functions. Instructions: AKASO Start Video, AKASO Stop Video, AKASO Activate Wifi, AKASO Turn off Wifi, AKASO Take Photos, AKASO Shut down.
- Distortion Calibration: On/Off (Default: Off). Corrects wide-angle distortion. Note: Cannot be activated when image stabilization is on.
- White Balance: Auto / Incandescent / Fluorescent / Daylight / Cloudy (Default: Auto). Adjusts color representation in different lighting conditions. Note: Disable Dive Mode and set Filter to "Normal" to adjust white balance.
- Filter: Normal / Black & White / Sepia / Color / Warm / Cold (Default: Normal). Apply various filters for different image effects. Note: Disable Dive Mode and set White Balance to "Auto" to adjust filters.
- Dive Mode: On/Off (Default: Off). Compensates for red light loss in underwater scenes. Optimized for tropical and blue waters, 10-80 feet. Note: To activate Dive Mode, set Filter to "Normal" and White Balance to "Auto".
- Invert Mode: On/Off (Default: Off). Adjusts the orientation of videos or photos to prevent upside-down shots.
- Driving Mode: On/Off (Default: Off). Automatically records video when connected to a car's power source and the engine starts.
- Auto Power Off: Off / 1 Minute / 3 Minutes / 5 Minutes (Default: 1 Minute). Automatically turns off the camera after a period of inactivity to save battery.
- Screen Saver: Off / 30 Seconds / 1 Minute / 3 Minutes / 5 Minutes (Default: 3 minutes). Turns off the display after a period of inactivity to save battery. Press any button to reactivate.
- Language: English / Deutsch / Français / Italiano / Español / Português / Japanese / Korean / Simplified Chinese / Traditional Chinese / Dutch / Polish / Russian (Default: English). Select the system language for the camera.
- Date and Time: Set date and time manually (Default: MM/DD/YY).
- Date Stamp: Off / Date / Date & Time (Default: Off). Adds a date and time watermark to videos or photos.
- Power Frequency: 60 Hz / 50 Hz (Default: 60 Hz). Set according to your region's power supply frequency.
- Format: Yes / No (Default: No). Formats the memory card. Recommended for maintaining card condition. Back up data before formatting.
- Reset: Yes / No (Default: No). Resets all settings to default values.
- About: Displays Brand (AKASO), Model (Brave 6 Plus), and Firmware Version (SN-39-XXXXXX-VX).
Connecting to the AKASO GO App
Control your camera, capture images, and adjust settings using the AKASO GO mobile app. Download it from the App Store or Google Play.
- Turn on the camera. Press and hold the Wi-Fi button or tap the Wi-Fi icon in the mode menu to activate Wi-Fi. The camera will enter Wi-Fi mode and display Wi-Fi information.
- On your phone, go to Wi-Fi settings, find the network name (SSID), and connect using the password "1234567890".
- Tip: You may see messages like "No Internet Connection" or "Weak Security" because your phone's 4G signal might be blocked. You can ignore these and proceed with the app connection.
- Open the AKASO GO app. Tap "Equipment" then "Add Equipment". Select "Brave 6 Plus" from the list.
- Check "The above operation has been confirmed" and tap "Live Preview". Your camera will now be connected to the AKASO GO app.
Reading Your Content
You can view your recorded content on the camera, computer, TV, or smartphone. To view on a computer, transfer the files first.
Displaying Files on Your Brave 6 Plus
- Turn on your Brave 6 Plus camera.
- Press the Down button or tap the playback icon in the bottom left corner to access the playback screen.
- Tap the Video or Photo icon to view all videos or photos.
- Tap the file you wish to view to play it.
Deleting Your Content
Deleting Files on Your Brave 6 Plus
- Access Playback mode. Note: Loading content may take a minute if your memory card is full.
- Tap the Video or Photo icon to access all videos or photos.
- Tap the file you want to delete, then tap the "Delete" icon.
- The selected file will be deleted.
- To exit Playback mode, tap the "Back" icon.
Deleting Files via the AKASO GO App
- Open the AKASO GO app and connect to your camera.
- Tap the Album icon in the bottom left corner to view all videos and photos.
- Tap the video or photo you wish to delete, then tap the delete icon in the top right corner, and select "Delete".
Transferring Your Content
Transferring Content to a Computer
Transfer content to your computer via USB cable or a card reader (sold separately).
- Via USB Cable: Connect the camera to your computer using the USB cable. Select "USB Storage" when prompted.
- Via Card Reader: Insert the memory card into a card reader, then connect the reader to your computer's USB port. You can then transfer files or delete selected files using File Explorer.
Downloading Content to a Smartphone
- Open the AKASO GO app and connect your camera.
- Tap the Album icon in the bottom left corner to view videos and photos.
- Tap the "Select" icon in the top right corner. Select the desired file(s), then tap the "Download" icon and confirm the download. The file(s) will be saved to your phone's photo album.
Note: If you cannot download videos or photos on your iPhone via the app, go to your phone's Settings → Privacy → Photos, find "AKASO GO", and select "All Photos".
Camera Maintenance
Follow these guidelines for optimal camera performance:
- For optimal audio performance, gently shake the camera or blow into the microphone holes to clear debris.
- When cleaning the lens, use a soft, lint-free cloth. Avoid inserting foreign objects near the lens.
- Avoid touching the lens with your fingers to prevent smudges and potential damage.
- Protect the camera from drops and impacts, as these can cause internal component damage.
- Avoid exposing the camera to high temperatures and direct sunlight, as this can cause damage.
Maximizing Battery Life
If the battery reaches 0% during recording, the camera will save the file and shut down. To maximize battery life:
- Disable Wi-Fi connection.
- Capture videos at lower frame rates and resolutions.
- Use the screen saver setting.
Battery Storage and Handling
The camera contains sensitive components, including the battery. Avoid exposing the camera to extreme temperatures. Extreme temperatures can temporarily reduce battery life or prevent the camera from functioning correctly. Avoid sudden changes in temperature or humidity, as condensation can form inside the camera.
- Do not dry the camera or battery with an external heat source like a microwave or hairdryer. Damage caused by liquid inside the camera is not covered by warranty.
- Do not store the battery with metallic objects like coins, keys, or necklaces, as this can cause a fire.
- Do not make unauthorized modifications to the camera, as this can compromise safety, regulatory compliance, performance, and void the warranty.
WARNING: Do not drop, disassemble, open, crush, bend, deform, puncture, shred, use microwaves, incinerate, or paint the camera or battery. Do not insert foreign objects into the camera's battery opening. Do not use the camera or battery if damaged (e.g., cracked, punctured, or water-damaged). Disassembly or perforation of the battery can cause an explosion or fire.
Remote Control
The camera automatically connects to the remote control when powered on. You can use the remote to take photos or record videos.
- Video: To record a video, ensure the camera is in Video mode. Press the grey video button to start recording. Press it again to stop.
- Photo: To take a photo, ensure the camera is in Photo mode. Press the Photo button. You will hear a shutter sound.
- Burst Photo: Ensure the camera is in Burst Photo mode and press the Photo button.
- Time Lapse: Ensure the camera is in Time Lapse mode and press the Photo or Video button.
Replacing the CR2032 Battery for the Remote Control
- Use a Phillips #1.8mm screwdriver to remove the 4 screws on the back of the remote control cover.
- Remove 4 additional screws on the PCB.
- Lift the PCB and slide the battery out. Note: Do not rotate the PCB to avoid dislodging the camera and video buttons.
- Install the new battery with the "+" pole facing up.
- Reinstall the 4 screws into the PCB.
- Reinstall the 4 screws into the cover.
Mounting Your Camera
Attach your camera to helmets, equipment, and accessories.
Note: Push firmly and ensure there is no gap between the waterproof case's seals.
The manual includes diagrams illustrating various mounting configurations using different accessories.
