General Mounting Instructions and Safety Information

General Advice:

• Installation and/or maintenance of SW-MOTECH products require good technical understanding. It is recommended to have installation and servicing performed by a specialist workshop. SW-MOTECH assumes no liability for damages caused by improper installation or maintenance.
• Always follow the directions in the mounting instructions and pay attention to relevant information in the vehicle manual.
• This product is designed for vehicles in their original condition. Compatibility with accessories from other manufacturers is not guaranteed.
• Observe country-specific legal or TÜV regulations. If required, have installed parts entered into vehicle documents.
• Ensure all parts are present before starting. Park the vehicle safely. Turn off the engine and remove the ignition key. Let the motor/exhaust cool if necessary. Disconnect the vehicle battery when working on the electrical system. Use appropriate tools and consider having a second person assist.

Security and Torque Specifications:

• All screws, bolts, and nuts, including replacement hardware, should be tightened to the torque specified in the OEM maintenance manual. If not specified, use the following torques:
• M6: 9.6 Nm
• M8: 23 Nm
• M8 (for ALU-RACK): 20 Nm
• M8 (for side bars): 23 Nm
• M8 (for mounting brackets): 18 Nm
• Use medium-strength liquid thread-locker (e.g., Loctite) for securing threads unless otherwise specified.
• Regularly check all connections for tightness, especially after the first 50 km of riding.
• Do not exceed the maximum vehicle load defined by the manufacturer.
• Do not exceed the maximum permissible load of the SW-MOTECH luggage rack/side carrier, considering the product's dead weight.
• Maximum speed with mounted cases: 130 km/h (80 mph).
• Ensure all components are properly attached and latched before riding.
• Keep all parts at least 5 cm away from hot or moving vehicle parts, including the exhaust stream.
• Secure strap ends to prevent fluttering.
• Never store sharp or pointed objects that could cause injury or damage.

Care Instructions:

• Clean with warm, soapy water and a soft cloth. Rinse with clean water. Do NOT use strong cleaning agents, rough tools, or high-pressure washers.
• Clean after winter rides to prevent salt damage.
• Surface materials may change color or fade due to prolonged sun exposure or environmental factors; SW-MOTECH assumes no liability for this.
• Dirt on the product and vehicle can cause abrasion and damage surfaces. Protect contact areas with an adhesive protection film. SW-MOTECH assumes no liability for paint damage or abrasions.

QUICK-LOCK EVO Side Carrier Mounting (ADV.01.129.75000/B)

This section details the installation of the QUICK-LOCK EVO Side Carrier system.

Parts List: QUICK-LOCK EVO Side Carrier Kit

Mounting Steps:

1. Step 1: Open the passenger seat. Replace the original seat bumpers with the new seat bumpers (1). Loosen the splint of the seat support shown in the main diagram and detach the support from its upper anchor. Support the passenger seat with a suitable object. Loosen the original seat screws and remove the seat from the vehicle.
2. Step 2: Remove the plastic caps and original screws from the passenger grips. Carefully remove the passenger grips from the vehicle. (Note: For side bar mounting on pages 20-21, small cutouts may be needed in the tail panels.)
3. Step 3: Attach the mounting brackets (2) to the passenger grips using screws (3). Secure screws (3) with liquid thread locker but do not fully tighten them yet. Keep spacers (5) in position with grease. (Note: If the SW-MOTECH ALU-RACK is mounted, brackets (2) and spacers (5) are not needed.)
4. Step 4: Attach the mounting brackets (6) behind the passenger footrests. Secure screws (7) and (10) with liquid thread locker but do not fully tighten them yet.
5. Step 5: Attach the side carriers (12) to the mounting brackets (2) and (6) using the quick fasteners (13).
6. Step 6: Connect both side carriers (12) to the rear mounting arms using the cross girder (15) and quick fasteners (13). Mark the mounting points for the cross girder (15), then remove the cross girder. Drill 6.5 mm holes at the marked points and deburr the edges.
7. Step 7: Attach the cross girder (15) to the license plate holder using screws (16). Do not fully tighten screws (16) yet.
8. Step 8: If all components are properly fitted and symmetrical, tighten all screws in the following order: screws (3) to 23 Nm, screws (7) and (10) to 18 Nm, and screws (16) to 9.6 Nm.

TraX ALU-BOX Attachment

Instructions for attaching TraX ALU-BOX cases to carriers and adapter plates.

Opening and Securing the Lid

• To open the lid, pull the latch upwards and remove it from the latch bar.
• To secure the lid, press the quick release fastener button until it clicks into place.
• Lock Cylinder Insertion: Insert lock cylinders (sold separately) into the latches and secure them with clamping plates, ensuring correct alignment. Insert keys and operate the lock cylinders. Use only graphite powder for lubrication.
• Lid Limiter Mounting: Attach snap-fits (4) to the lid frame and lid limiters (5) to the case frame. Press lid limiters onto snap-fits. Compress lid limiters slightly before first closing. Ensure limiters are not pinched when closing the lid.

Attaching ALU-BOX to Side Carrier:

For QUICK-LOCK Side Carriers:

1. Lead the four openings of the mounting rails onto the locating bolts of the mounted QUICK-LOCK adapter kit. Press the TRAX ADVENTURE ALU-BOX slightly downward until it rests properly on the QUICK-LOCK side carrier. Ensure all four locating bolts engage simultaneously.
2. Place the latch over the latch hook and close the latch. Check the proper fit of the ALU-BOX on the side carrier. Ensure the latch is under sufficient tension; readjust the latch hook if necessary.
3. Secure the TRAX ALU-BOX with the separately available TraX lock cylinder set to the QUICK-LOCK side carrier before riding.

For QUICK-LOCK Adapter Plate / STEEL-RACK:

1. Lead the four openings of the mounting rail onto the locating bolts of the mounted QUICK-LOCK adapter plate or STEEL-RACK adapter kit. Press the TRAX ADVENTURE ALU-BOX slightly forward until it rests properly on the adapter plate/kit. Ensure all four locating bolts engage simultaneously.
2. Place the latch over the latch hook and close the latch. Check the proper fit of the ALU-BOX on the adapter plate/kit. Ensure the latch is under sufficient tension; readjust the latch hook if necessary.
3. Secure the TRAX ALU-BOX with the separately available TraX lock cylinder set to the adapter plate/kit before riding.

ALU-RACK Mounting (GPT.01.151.15001/B)

Instructions for mounting the ALU-RACK.

Parts List: ALU-RACK

Mounting Steps:

1. Step 1: Insert plastic caps (3) into the end openings of the side bars (2).
2. Step 2: Attach the side bars (2) to the passenger grips using screws (5). Secure screws (5) with liquid thread locker but do not fully tighten yet. Keep washers (7) in position with grease. (Note: The '!' symbol indicates the fixing point for the QUICK-LOCK Side Carrier.)
3. Step 3: Attach the ALU-RACK (8) to the side bars (2) using screws (9). Secure screws (9) with liquid thread locker and tighten them. Torque for screws (9) is 20 Nm.
4. Step 4: Tighten screws (5) with the specified torque of 23 Nm. (Attention: If an adapter plate is used, cam-locks on the ALU-RACK must be installed before attaching it to the vehicle.)

TraX Lock Set with Anti-Theft Protection

Instructions for installing the lock set.

Parts List: TRAX Lock Set

Installation: Insert lock cylinders into latches and secure with clamping plates. Insert keys and operate locks. ATTENTION: Never lubricate lock cylinders with oil; use only graphite powder.

TRAX M/L Expansion Bag Attachment (BC.ALK.00.732.10700/B)

Instructions for attaching the expansion bag.

Attachment:

1. Place the TRAX expansion bag on the lid of the TRAX aluminum box or a similar aluminum case.
2. Fix all four straps of the TRAX expansion bag to the tie-down points of the lid.
3. Tighten the straps until the TRAX expansion bag is centered and sits firmly on the lid.
4. Ensure that the strap ends are secured against fluttering.
