Preparing the Unit
Powering the Unit: Plug the cord into an electrical outlet. Ensure the wall switch controlling the outlet is turned on.
Attaching the Brush Head: Position the brush head on the power handle and press firmly until it clicks. To remove, pull firmly.
Attaching the Power Handle to the Hose: Place the power handle onto the hose in the base and press firmly until it clicks. To remove, press the round button on the back of the power handle.
Charging the Sonic Fusion: Charge for at least 20 minutes before first use. For a full charge, leave on the charging base for at least 4 hours. A full charge lasts approximately 14 uses (2 minutes each). For long-term storage (6+ months), fully charge before storing.
Charge Lights: Indicator lights show battery level for about 10 seconds after removal from the charger and after use, then turn off. A low charge (bottom light lit) indicates recharging is recommended.
Indicator Light (Blue): Blinks when the unit is first plugged in, when the handle is placed on or removed from the charger, or when a wireless command is received.
Preparing the Reservoir: Remove the reservoir, fill with warm water, close the lid, and replace it firmly on the base.
Prime Unit (First Time Use Only): Point the brush head into a sink. Press the 'Floss' button and rotate the pressure control dial between low and high until water flows. Press 'Floss' again to stop water flow.
Brushing and Flossing
Brushing:
- Place the brush head in your mouth before pressing the BRUSH button.
- Technique: Position the brush along the gumline at a 45-degree angle. Use light pressure and move the toothbrush slowly, allowing the sonic action to clean each tooth. The brush can be disconnected from the hose for easier maneuverability.
- Quad Timer: The unit pauses every 30 seconds to indicate when to move to the next section of your mouth (30 seconds for outer surfaces, 30 seconds for inner surfaces, repeated for upper and lower arches, totaling 2 minutes).
- 2 Minute Timer: The brush automatically shuts off after 2 minutes.
Flossing:
- Always place the brush head in your mouth before pressing the FLOSS button. Lean over the sink and slightly close lips to prevent splashing while allowing water to flow into the sink.
- Adjusting Pressure: Start with the lowest setting (No. 1) and gradually increase to your preferred level or as recommended by your dental professional.
- Technique: Start with back teeth and move towards the front. Angle the nozzle slightly toward the gumline. Move along the gumline, pausing briefly between teeth to clean between them. Clean both inside and outside surfaces of upper and lower teeth. Empty any remaining liquid from the reservoir when finished.
Brush + Floss: Place the brush head in your mouth. Press the BRUSH button, then press the FLOSS button to use both functions simultaneously.
Care and Maintenance
Before cleaning, unplug the unit.
After Each Use:
- Remove the brush head from the handle and rinse both under running water.
- Wipe the handle dry.
- Store the handle on the charger and keep the unit plugged in. The unit will not overcharge.
General Cleaning / Removing Hard Water Deposits:
- Clean with a soft cloth and mild, non-abrasive cleanser.
- To remove hard water deposits: Add 2 tablespoons of white vinegar to a full reservoir of warm water. Point the handle and brush head into a sink. Turn the Water Flosser ON and run until the reservoir is empty. Rinse by repeating with a full reservoir of clean warm water. Perform this process every 1 to 3 months for optimal performance.
Toothbrush Low Charge Lock Out: If the battery charge is too low, the indicator lights will flash, potentially causing a lock-out mode. To clear, place the power handle on the charging base.
Leakage: If leaking due to a damaged hose, replacement hoses can be purchased at www.waterpik.com or by contacting Water Pik Inc. customer service.
Travel and Hose-Free Brushing
The toothbrush can be disconnected from the Sonic Fusion unit for travel or hose-free brushing. Store the handle and brush head(s) in the provided case.
Note: To disconnect the toothbrush from the water hose, press the round button on the back of the power handle.
Using Mouthwash and Other Solutions
The Sonic Fusion can be used with mouthwash and antibacterial solutions. After using any special solution, rinse the unit by partially filling the reservoir with warm water and running the unit with the brush head pointed into the sink to prevent clogging.
