Getting Started
Powering the Unit:
Plug the power supply into an electrical outlet. If the outlet is controlled by a wall switch, ensure it is turned on.
Illustration shows the power supply connected to the unit, indicating the power source and charging indicators.
Charging the Sensonic™ Toothbrush:
Charge for 8 hours before first use. The light ring on the handle glows white while charging and turns off when fully charged. A solid red light indicates a low battery, and a blinking red light indicates a fully depleted battery. A full charge provides approximately 2 weeks of typical use (2 minutes of brushing twice a day).
Note: Charging pauses temporarily when the water flosser is operating and resumes automatically when the flosser turns off.
Modes:
- A. Clean: Outstanding everyday cleaning performance.
- B. Stain Removal: Gently removes surface stains.
- C. Gum Care: Gently enhances gum stimulation.
Note: Modes can only be changed while the unit is in operation.
Sensonic™ Brushing:
- Slide the brush head onto the handle and push it down firmly.
- Place the brush head in your mouth before turning the unit on.
- Select the mode by pressing the mode button.
- For best results, position the brush along the gumline at a 45-degree angle.
- Use light pressure with a small, slow back-and-forth motion, covering one or two teeth at a time.
- Quad Timer: The toothbrush creates a short pause every 30 seconds to remind you to move to the next quadrant of your mouth.
- 2-Minute Timer: The brush automatically shuts off after 2 minutes of run time.
Bristles change from green to yellow when it's time to replace the brush head (for optimal performance, replace every 3 months).
Diagrams illustrate the toothbrush modes and brushing technique, including timer functions.
Using the Water Flosser
- Always place the tip in your mouth before turning the water ON.
- With the water switch in the OFF position, turn the power ON.
- Lean over the sink and slightly close your lips to prevent splashing, while allowing water to flow from your mouth into the sink.
- Turn the water switch ON.
- When finished, turn the water switch and power OFF.
- During use, you can stop the flow of water by sliding the water switch on the handle to the OFF position. The motor will continue to run.
Diagrams show the water flosser in use, illustrating water flow and hand positioning.
Recommended Technique:
For best results, start with the back teeth and work toward the front teeth. Glide the tip along the gumline and pause briefly between teeth. Continue until you have cleaned the inside and outside of both the upper and lower teeth.
When Finished:
Turn the unit OFF. Empty any liquid left in the reservoir. Unplug the unit.
Note: If you used mouthwash or other solutions besides water, refer to the "Using Mouthwash and Other Solutions" section.
Tip Usage
Note: Not all tips are included with all models.
- Plaque Seeker™ Tip: Place the tip very close to the tooth so the bristles gently touch it. Glide along the gumline, pausing briefly between teeth to brush gently and allow water to flow between teeth.
- Orthodontic Tip: Glide gently along the gumline, pausing briefly to brush gently between teeth and around orthodontic brackets before moving to the next tooth.
- Pik Pocket™ Tip: Specifically designed to deliver water or antibacterial solutions deep into periodontal pockets. Use the lowest pressure setting. Place the soft tip against a tooth at a 45-degree angle and gently place it under the gumline, into the pocket.
- Tongue Cleaner Tip: Use the lowest pressure setting. Place the tip in the center/middle of your tongue about halfway back. Pull forward with light pressure, increasing pressure as you prefer.
Illustrations show the correct placement and motion for using the Plaque Seeker, Orthodontic, Pik Pocket, and Tongue Cleaner tips.
Care and Troubleshooting
Using Mouthwash and Other Solutions:
The Waterpik™ Water Flosser can be used to deliver mouthwash and antibacterial solutions. After using any special solution, rinse the unit to prevent clogging by partially filling the reservoir with warm water and running the unit with the tip pointed into the sink until the reservoir is empty. Never immerse the unit in water or any other liquid.
Cleaning:
Never immerse the unit in water. Before cleaning, unplug from the electrical outlet. Clean the product as needed with a soft cloth and mild, non-abrasive cleanser. The reservoir is recommended for weekly cleaning; it is removable and top-rack dishwasher safe (heat cycle off). Using toothpastes containing peroxide or abrasive/chemical cleaners may damage the plastic housing.
Removing Hard Water Deposits / General Cleaning:
Hard water deposits may build up depending on your water's mineral content. To clean internal parts, add 2 tablespoons of white vinegar to a full reservoir of warm water. Point the handle and tip into the sink. Run the unit until the reservoir is empty. Rinse by repeating with a full reservoir of clean warm water. This process should be done every 1 to 3 months for optimal performance. More frequent cleaning is recommended if using mouthwash or other solutions.
Leakage:
If leaking is due to a damaged hose, replacement hoses and handles can be purchased at www.waterpik.com (US) or www.waterpik.ca (Canada). Contact Water Pik Inc. customer service for a self-service repair kit.
Service Maintenance:
Waterpik™ Water Flossers have no user-serviceable electrical parts and do not require routine service maintenance. For all parts and accessories, visit www.waterpik.com (US) or www.waterpik.ca (Canada). You may also call customer service at 1-800-525-2774 (US) or 1-888-226-3042 (Canada). Refer to serial and model numbers in all correspondence (located on the bottom of the unit).
Battery Care and Disposal/Recycling
Battery Care:
If the toothbrush is to be stored for an extended period (six months or more), fully charge it prior to storage. Do not expose the battery or appliance to excessive temperatures.
Battery Disposal/Recycling:
This product contains a rechargeable lithium-ion battery, which is not replaceable. At the end of the product's life, do not dispose of it in household garbage or recycling bins. Please recycle at your nearest recycling center or take it to a hazardous waste collection point to comply with local and state regulations. Dispose of used batteries promptly, keep away from children, and do not disassemble or dispose of in fire. Contact your local waste administrative department for questions.
Note: The rechargeable battery is not replaceable. Remove only at the end of the product's life; this process is irreversible and voids the product warranty.

Battery Removal:
To remove the rechargeable battery for recycling, discharge it fully first. Observe basic safety precautions: protect your eyes, hands, fingers, and work surface.
- Run down the battery by operating the Toothbrush Power Button until the motor stops.
- Gather a towel or cloth, hammer, flat-head screwdriver, and wire cutters.
- Remove and discard the brush head. Cover the handle entirely with the towel or cloth.
- Clamp the top of the handle against your work surface with one hand. Strike the handle housing around the bottom perimeter on all sides to release the end cap latch. Continue striking and rotating until the end cap releases.
- Turn the handle upside down, un-latch the plastic tabs, and slide the chassis from the outer housing.
- The internal components should slide out. Repeat steps 5 and 6 if necessary.
- Remove the battery from the chassis. Cut the battery wires one at a time with wire cutters.
- Recycle and dispose of the battery properly. Discard remaining product pieces appropriately.
Recycle or dispose of the battery at your nearest recycling center or hazardous waste collection facility according to local and national regulations.
⚠️ WARNING:
- DO NOT cut both battery wires at the same time.
- DO NOT disassemble, puncture, hit, squeeze, or throw the battery into fire.
