VARTA Plug Charger

This document provides essential information for the safe and effective use of your VARTA Plug Charger.

Safety Precautions

Warning: Risk of injury! Primary batteries can explode when charging. Only charge Ni-MH rechargeable batteries, never primary batteries. The charger features integrated safety shutdown after 8.5 hours for AA/AAA batteries and a minus delta-V cut-off function. It is normal for batteries and the charger to become warm during charging. Never charge corroded, damaged, or leaking batteries. Do not open batteries, throw them into fire, or short-circuit them. Contact a VARTA dealer in case of damage or malfunction.

How to Use the Charger

Insert Batteries: Insert rechargeable batteries of the same size (AA or AAA) and capacity in pairs. Ensure both contacts of each battery are making proper contact.
Connect to Power: Plug the charger into a 230V/50Hz EU power outlet. The charger is designed for worldwide use; use a country-specific adapter if necessary.

LED Indicators:

LED Flashing: Charging in progress.
Static LED: Charging completed.
Fast Flashing LED: Error detected (e.g., alkaline battery, wrong polarity, defective battery, short circuit).

The built-in timer protects batteries from overcharging. Power interruptions will restart the timer. The charging control function further safeguards batteries against overcharging. Remove batteries when the charger is unplugged.

Charging Times

Refer to the charging time table for recommended charging durations for different battery capacities:

AA Batteries (800mAh - 2600mAh): Approximately 2.5h - 7.5h
AAA Batteries (550mAh - 1000mAh): Approximately 4h - 7h

Environmental Protection

To prevent environmental and health problems caused by hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment, this symbol indicates that the product should not be disposed of with unsorted household waste. It must be recovered, reused, or recycled. For more information on recycling, please contact your local authorities.
