Unpacking & Assembly
Packing List:
- Nardi Diving Hookah
- Nardi Hose / Regulator (17m)
- Operation & Maintenance Manual
Carefully remove the diving hookah and accessories from the box. Check that all items are included. Inspect the unit for any damage incurred during shipping. Retain packaging materials until the hookah has been inspected and satisfactorily operated. This model requires no assembly.
General Diving Hookah Safety
Diving carries inherent risks. This diving hookah should ONLY be used by suitably trained persons. Undertake an accredited diving training course if you are not adequately trained.
- Do Not rely solely on the diving hookah. It is a mechanical device that can fail without warning. Always have a backup source of breathing air, such as a "Bailout Bottle" or "Pony Bottle" with an integral regulator.
- Do Not dive alone.
- Do Not operate the diving hookah if any components are damaged or inoperative. Check all items before use.
- Do Not modify the diving hookah or its accessories.
- Be mindful of breathing air quality. The air supplied is drawn from the environment around the cooling fan. Potential contaminants include boat motors, generators, fuel supplies, and batteries.
- Ensure adequate airflow around the unit for motor and compressor cooling.
- Prior to Maintenance: Ensure the diving hookah is switched off and all pressurized air is drained. For electric models, disconnect from the power source (unplug for 230v, disconnect from battery for 12v/24v).
- Prior to Maintenance: Ensure the diving hookah has cooled to room temperature.
Diving Hookah Operation
Location:
Position the diving hookah on a stable, level surface. While not critical due to the absence of lubricating fluids, an excessively sloped surface could cause 'creep' due to vibration. Ensure sufficient clearance for cooling airflow.
Air Quality:
Be aware that breathing air is drawn from the environment around the cooling fan. Monitor air quality, as boat motors, generators, fuel, and batteries can be sources of contamination.
Power Connection:
Connect only to a 230-volt power outlet with Earth Leakage Protection. Ensure the connection is secure. The unit has a 1.8m cable. Using extension leads over longer distances can cause voltage drops, potentially damaging the motor and reducing air output. Use heavy-duty extension leads of minimal length if required.
Hose Connection:
Connect the supplied hose/regulator assembly to the breathing air outlet on the filter assembly. Push the male connector into the female coupling until the chrome outer ring clicks securely into place.
Switching On:
Turn the red ON/OFF switch to the AUTO position. The compressor will pressurize the tank to approximately 10 Bar and then switch off automatically. It will cycle on and off as air is used.
Outlet Pressure Regulation:
The outlet pressure is regulated by a pressure regulator, displayed on the pressure gauge. Adjust by pulling the red knob up, turning it to the desired pressure, and pushing it back down. Factory setting is approximately 4 Bar; adjustment is usually not necessary. Increasing pressure can strain the hose and regulator.
Using as an Air Compressor:
The unit has a standard Nitto compressed air outlet and can be used as an oilless air compressor. Oilless compressors are not designed for continuous high-airflow tool operation and require pauses to prevent overheating.
After Use:
Switch the unit OFF. Drain the air storage tank via the drain valve. Moisture that accumulates in the tank during operation will also drain; this is normal and may appear discolored.
Two Diver Operation
This model can supply breathing air to two divers simultaneously using a 'Nardi Additional Diver Kit'. This kit includes a Nardi T-Coupling and an additional Nardi Hose/Regulator. The T-Coupling connects directly to the breathing air outlet, allowing two hose assemblies to be connected. The Nardi T-Coupling is designed for direct connection to the hookah's air outlet, not for underwater extension hoses. Its connectors are not lockable and could be inadvertently disconnected if caught on submerged objects.
Maintenance
The diving hookah requires minimal maintenance.
Air Leaks:
Regularly check for air leaks, which can cause the unit to run longer and more often, leading to detrimental effects. Leaks are usually audible or indicated by the air storage tank losing pressure. The tank should maintain approximately 10 Bar. Leaks can be located using soapy water and must be rectified before further use.
Breathing Air Filter Cartridge:
The filter cartridge, located on the air storage tank, is replaceable and should be changed every 12 months, or more frequently for commercial use. Access it by unscrewing the knurled aluminium end of the filter housing. Replacement cartridges (Part Number AC036-101) are available from AC Diving.
Service Kits:
Service/Rebuild Kits (Part Number EX041-160) are available, containing replacement Piston Seals, Gaskets, O-rings, and Air Suction Filters. A kit may be needed after extensive commercial use or if the unit has been overheated.
Spare Parts
All replacement parts are available from AC Diving. Diagrams showing parts and their corresponding numbers are provided.

Warranty
Your Nardi Diving Hookah is covered by a 24-month warranty against defective components. The warranty excludes normal wear and tear, and defects caused by misuse or operation not in accordance with the supplied Operation & Maintenance Manual.
Recycling
The compressor must be scrapped according to disposal norms in the country of disposal. Nardi Compressori thanks you for respecting the environment.
