Important Safety Instructions

WARNING: If the information in this manual is not followed exactly, a fire or explosion may result causing property damage, personal injury, or loss of life.

Electrical Requirements

IMPORTANT: Observe all governing codes and ordinances.

⚠️WARNING Hazard of electrical shock! DO NOT perform service on an electrically live system. Disconnect the main electrical supply before servicing this device. Touching electrical connectors or other exposed electrical circuitry inside this range hood when they are energized could result in death, serious bodily injury, or property damage.

Venting Requirements

For the most efficient & quiet operation:

IMPORTANT:

Minimum Duct Size:

* Due to different ceiling height configurations, recommended height may not be applicable.

Calculating Vent System Length

To calculate the length of the duct system you require, subtract the equivalent feet for each "Duct piece" (Table Below) used in the system from the "Recommended maximum run" (Table Below). The longest duct run that is acceptable (if completely straight) is 50 feet. The number of duct pieces (elbow, transition, etc.) installed in your duct run will determine the maximum length the duct run can be. Please refer to the example below:

Duct Run Calculation: Duct Run Calcuation example:
Recommended maximum run 6" round duct One roof cap, two 90° elbows, and one 45° elbow used: 7ft + 9ft + 9ft + 5ft = 30ft used.
Duct piece deduction The above duct pieces used are equivalent to 30ft of a straight duct run. Subtract 30ft from the allowable 50ft. The remaining distance of 20ft is the longest that the straight ducting (in addition to the vent pieces) can be.
Each 90° elbow used 9 ft
Each 45° elbow used 5 ft
Each round to rectangle transition used 7 ft
Side wall cap with damper 7 ft
Roof cap 7 ft

Preparations:

NOTE: To avoid damage to your hood, prevent debris from entering the vent opening.

Do's and Don'ts for Duct Venting

The hood must be tested before installation. Vikio will not be responsible for additional labour costs related to reinstallation of the hood due to transportation internal damage or wiring issues.

Rough-In

⚠️WARNING Risk of electrical shock. This range hood must be properly grounded. Make sure this is done by a qualified electrician in accordance with all applicable national and local electrical codes. Before connecting wires, switch power off at the service panel and lock the service panel to prevent power from being switched on accidentally.

Diagram Description: The diagram shows a range hood installed in a cabinet above a cooking surface. It indicates preferred areas for wall or roof vent ducting, placement of a 120v outlet, and recommended clearances. Key dimensions shown are: Min 24", Max 30", Optimal 28" from the cooking surface to the bottom of the hood. It also notes to allow spacing for wood blocking and that the cabinet surround should accommodate the bottom lip of the range hood.

Installation

Step 1: Cabinet Opening

Cut an opening in the bottom of the cabinet, using the dimensions shown in the table below. Ensure you have a minimum of 3.5" space from the wall to your cut-out to accommodate the lip of the range hood.

Model X Y Z
RB11-30 26 1/4" 10 3/4" Min. 3/4"
RB11-36 34" 10 3/4" Min. 3/4"

Step 2: Wood Blocking

Prepare wood blocking to help secure the mounting range hood. Anchor wood blocking to the cabinet with woodscrews (not included). CAUTION: Use Fire-Rated wood to construct wood blocking.

Step 3: Mounting the Hood

Carefully insert and slide the range hood into the overhead cabinet.

Step 4: Securing the Hood

Fasten remaining screws from the inner side of the range hood to the wood blocking.

Duct Connection (Wall Vent):

Cut out a hole in the wall to accommodate the 6" Ø elbow duct. The distance from the wall to the transition circumference edge should be for 6".

Duct Connection (Roof Vent):

Cut out a hole on the top panel of the cabinet, and in the ceiling for the exhaust duct. Use a 6" Ø duct with a 6" Ø transition. Use 6" round steel pipe to connect the exhaust on the hood to the duct work above. Use aluminum tape to make all joints secure and air tight.

⚠️WARNING Severe Injury: Rotating fan can cause severe injury. Stay clear of fan when motor is running.

How to Replace or Change Charcoal Filters

If you need to do a ductless installation, please follow the installation steps without installing a smoke pipe and install the activated carbon. It is recommended to use ducting to direct vent your range hood whenever possible. If you have a recirculating kit installed on your under cabinet hood, carbon charcoal filters are available to recirculate the air through your hood.

Installation of Filters

Bottom View: The filter has retractable tabs and a lift lever. Tab inserts are visible.

IMPORTANT: ***Before installing, remove protective white film***

Venting Methods

This range hood is factory set for venting through the roof or wall. Duct work can terminate either through the roof or wall. To vent through a wall, a 90° elbow is needed.

Diagram Description: The diagram illustrates two venting methods: Wall Vent (1) and Roof Vent (2). For Wall Vent, a 6" Ø duct connects to a 90° elbow. For Roof Vent, a 6" Ø duct connects to a backdraft damper (optional) and requires insulation for cold climates. Minimum duct height from the bottom of the duct to the ground is shown for stove heights of 24" (77 1/2") and 30" (83 1/2"). The hood itself has a minimum height of 24" and a maximum of 30" from the cooking surface. The typical hood height is 36".

Troubleshooting

ISSUE POSSIBLE CAUSE SOLUTION
The blower or fan seems weak A large amount of oil has accumulated on the baffle filter.
Use the wrong duct size.
The distance between the range hood and the stove is too far.
The duct is clogged or if damper unit (half-circular flapper) is not installed correctly.
Clean or replace the baffle filters.
Use the right duct - 3-1/4x10" or 6" round type.
Adjust the distance between the range hood and the stove top.
Clear the blockage of the duct. Install the flapper correctly.
Gesture invalid. Gesture function is not turned on.
The hand wave motion does not pass through two sensor points or the speed is too slow.
Turn on the Gesture function.
Please ensure that you move your hand in a horizontal motion over the sensing points, maintaining a distance no closer than 5.9 inches from the panel.
Range hood does not work. The circuit board is malfunctioning.
Check that there is power to the range hood.
Contact the customer to replace a new circuit board.
The most common issue is that the circuit breaker is off or the fuse has blown.
Make sure the speed has been selected at the controls.
Range hood is making a rattling noise. The motor is loose.
The duct work connection is loose.
The hood is not secured in place.
If it is stuck, it will sound like motor noise but it's really the damper.
Turn off the power and check that all wires are properly connected. Refer to your specific model's installation instructions for proper wiring.
Turn off the power and remove the filter and check that all screws are secure and tight around the motor.
The ductwork connection to the pipe is tight. Add duct tape if necessary.
Check the installation of the hood.
Check whether the air outlet is blocked by foreign matter or air duct deformation, and the damper is opened normally.
The motor is working, the light is not on. The light connector is not connected.
Light out of order
Check whether the LED connector is connected.
Contact customer service to replace the lamp.
The lights cannot be turned off. The circuit or switch board is out of order. Contact customer service to replace the switch board or circuit board.
