Emerson EDL-2870H: 7" Bluetooth DVD Boombox with Digital TV & HD Input

Quick Start Guide

IMPORTANT

For your safety and proper performance, this product has a polarized power plug. It will not operate if the power cord is incorrectly attached to the external AC socket. Digital TV Facts

Digital TV offers a significantly different experience compared to older analog TV. When everything is set up correctly, digital TV provides a clear, ghost-free picture with highly saturated colors. However, it's possible to have a strong signal available and still not receive a picture at all. In contrast, old-fashioned analog TV would typically display a picture, though it might be full of static, blurry, or show multiple "ghost" images. Digital TV operates more like a light switch – it's either ON or OFF.

If, after the initial setup, you do not receive one or more of your favorite TV channels, try repositioning the external TV antenna to a different area and re-scan your TV. If a particular channel remains unavailable, consider using a stronger antenna or connecting the unit to cable TV and then performing a re-scan.

About TV Sound

To improve TV dialog recognition, try setting the Sound Mode to "Movie". Press "BASS BOOST" to enjoy richer sound.

Let's Watch TV

Ensure the included TV antenna is properly connected to the set and that the rear display switch is set to ON.

Power on the unit. Set the FUNCTION switch to the TV/DVD/BT/AUX/HD-IN position. Press MODE/TV MENU to switch to TV mode (or press MODE on the remote).

  1. Press the GOTO/SEARCH key on the remote control to automatically search for TV programs.
  2. Press and hold MODE/TV MENU to access the TV setup menu and adjust TV options. [Illustration: On-screen menus are shown, labeled "Channel Search", "Picture", and "Option", with language settings visible.]

To Play a DVD

Power on the unit. Set the FUNCTION switch to the TV/DVD/BT/AUX/HD-IN position. Note: You may need to press MODE/TV MENU to switch to DVD mode. Press the MODE/TV MENU button to cycle through DVD, TV, and BT modes.

  1. Lift the disc compartment cover to reveal the disc tray.
  2. Place a disc onto the tray, ensuring the center hole fits over the spindle. Gently push down to lock the disc into place.
  3. Lower the disc compartment cover to close it. The system will automatically attempt to read the disc. If necessary, press PLAY/PAUSE/ENTER/PAIR to start playback.
  4. When a menu screen appears on the LCD, use the FWD/UP, REV/DOWN, PREV/LEFT, or NEXT/RIGHT buttons to navigate menu items. Press PLAY/PAUSE/ENTER/PAIR to select an item. You can also use the numeric keypad on the remote to enter a track number.

Enjoy AM/FM Radio

Power on the unit. Set the FUNCTION switch to the RADIO position.

To optimize reception for FM stations, extend the telescopic antenna to its full length. For AM stations, gently move the unit or position it in an open area.

  1. Select the band: Set the BAND switch to AM for AM frequencies (kHz) or FM for FM frequencies (MHz).
  2. Tune to a station by turning the TUNING dial. Turn slowly as you approach the desired frequency, adjusting back and forth slightly to lock onto the strongest signal. The FM ST/PAIR indicator will light red when the tuner is locked onto an FM stereo broadcast.
  3. Turn the VOLUME dial to adjust the listening level.

Enjoy Bluetooth Mode

Power on the unit. Set the FUNCTION switch to the TV/DVD/BT/AUX/HD-IN position. Press MODE/TV MENU to switch to BT mode. The FM ST/PAIR indicator will light up blue.

Before using a wireless device with Bluetooth, you must pair it with the system. Once paired, the system will automatically detect and connect to the device.

  1. When you switch to Bluetooth mode and no paired device is detected, the system will automatically enter pairing mode. The FM ST/PAIR indicator will flash blue during pairing.
  2. On your Bluetooth device, navigate to its Bluetooth settings menu.
  3. Initiate a "search for devices" on your Bluetooth device. Select "EMERSON EDL-2870H" when it appears. If prompted, enter "0000" as the passkey.
  4. Upon successful pairing, the system will emit a soft tone, and the FM ST/PAIR indicator will light a steady blue. The system will automatically connect to your Bluetooth device in the future, provided Bluetooth is enabled, the device is within range, and it's set to be discoverable.
  5. Control playback from your Bluetooth device. Basic playback functions (play/pause, next, previous) can often be controlled by the system and its remote if your Bluetooth device supports this feature.

Note: Due to the variety of Bluetooth-enabled devices, specific instructions for all are not provided. Please consult your device manufacturer's instructions or website for more information on connecting with Bluetooth.

HDMI Mode

Set the FUNCTION switch to TV/DVD/BT/AUX/HD-IN.

  1. Press MODE/TV MENU to select the HDMI input function.
  2. Connect an HDMI cable or HDMI device to the HD-INPUT jack on the back of the unit for audio and video input.
  3. Use the external device's controls to play the audio tracks.
