IMPORTANT

For your safety and proper performance, this product has a polarized power plug. It will not operate if the power cord is incorrectly attached to the external AC socket. The plug has one blade wider than the other to ensure correct insertion. If the plug does not fit your socket, consult an electrician.

DIGITAL TV FACTS

Digital TV offers a clear, ghost-free, highly saturated color picture compared to older analog TV. However, it's possible to have a strong signal but no picture at all. Unlike analog TV, which might display a blurry or static-filled picture, digital TV is either ON or OFF.

If you don't receive your favorite TV channels after initial setup, try repositioning the external TV antenna and re-scanning. If a particular channel is still missing, consider using a better antenna or connecting to cable TV and re-scanning.

About TV Sound

For better TV dialog recognition, try setting the Sound Mode to "Movie". Press BASS BOOST to enjoy richer sound.

Let's Watch TV

Ensure the included TV antenna is connected properly and the rear display switch is set to ON.

Power on the unit. Set the FUNCTION switch to the TV/DVD/BT/AUX position. Press MODE/TV MENU to switch to TV mode (or press MODE on the remote).

1. Press the GOTO/SEARCH key on the remote control to auto search for TV programs.
2. Press and hold MODE/TV MENU to enter the TV setup menu to adjust options for the TV.

TO PLAY A DVD

Power on the unit. Set the FUNCTION switch to the TV/DVD/BT/AUX position. Press MODE/TV MENU to switch to DVD mode. Press the MODE/TV MENU button to switch the disc tray.

1. Place a disc onto the tray. Make sure that the center hole of the disc fits over the spindle and then push gently to lock the disc into place.
2. Lower the disc compartment cover to close it. The system will automatically attempt to read the disc. (If necessary, press PLAY/PAUSE/ENTER/PAIR to start playback.)

When a DVD menu screen appears on the LCD screen, use the FWD, UP/REV, DOWN, PREV/LEFT or NEXT/RIGHT buttons to browse menu items; press PLAY/PAUSE/ENTER/PAIR to select a menu item. You may also use the numeric keypad on the remote control to enter a track number.

ENJOY BLUETOOTH MODE

Power on the unit. Set the FUNCTION switch to the TV/DVD/BT/AUX position. Press MODE/TV MENU to switch to BT mode. The FM ST/PAIR indicator will light up blue.

Before using a wireless device with Bluetooth, you will need to pair it with the system. Once a device is paired, the system will automatically detect and connect to it.

1. When you switch to Bluetooth mode and the system does not detect a paired device, it will automatically enter pairing mode. The FM ST/PAIR indicator will flash blue when the system is in pairing mode.
2. On your Bluetooth device, go to its Bluetooth settings menu.
3. Have your Bluetooth device "search for devices". Select the system (EMERSON EDL-2870) when it is found. Enter 0000 as a passkey if the device asks for one.
4. When pairing is complete, the system will emit a soft tone and the FM ST/PAIR indicator will light a steady blue. The system will automatically connect to your Bluetooth device next time as long as it has Bluetooth enabled, is within range, and is set to be visible to paired devices.
5. Control playback from your Bluetooth device. Basic playback (such as play/pause, next/previous) may also be controlled by the system and its remote if your Bluetooth device supports it.

? There are many different Bluetooth enabled devices; we cannot provide instructions for all of them. Please refer to your device manufacturer's instructions or website to learn more about connecting with Bluetooth.

ENJOY AM/FM RADIO

? To optimize reception when listening to stations on the FM band, extend the telescopic antenna to its full length. To optimize reception for AM radio stations, gently move the unit around, or position the unit in an open plaza.

1. Select the band.
2. Set the BAND switch to AM to tune to AM radio frequencies (kHz).
3. Set the BAND switch to FM to tune to FM radio frequencies (MHz).
4. Tune to a station by turning the TUNING dial. You will hear the dial slowly as you approach the desired frequency. You may need to turn the dial back and forth a little to lock onto the strongest signal.
5. The FM ST/PAIR indicator will light red when the tuner is locked onto an FM stereo broadcast.
6. Turn the VOLUME dial to adjust the volume level to a comfortable listening level.
