Safety Precautions
Thank you for purchasing this product. Please read these instructions carefully before using the product and save this manual for future reference.
Unit
WARNING: To reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, or product damage:
- Do not expose the unit to rain, moisture, or splashes.
- Do not expose units containing batteries to excessive heat (e.g., from storage in direct sunlight, fire, or the like).
- Use only manufacturer-recommended accessories.
- Do not disassemble the product.
- Do not attempt to repair this apparatus yourself. Contact qualified service personnel for service.
Circumstances to Avoid Using
- Extremely low or high temperatures during use, storage, or transportation.
- Battery disposal in fire or a hot oven, or mechanical crushing or cutting of the battery, which can lead to an explosion.
- Extremely high temperatures and/or extremely low air pressure, which may lead to an explosion or leakage of flammable liquid or gas.
- Do not place the apparatus near a heat source.
- Do not listen to this apparatus at high volume in places where you need to be aware of ambient sounds for your safety, such as at railway crossings and construction sites.
- Keep this apparatus away from magnetically sensitive devices. Devices such as watches may not function correctly.
- When using this apparatus on an airplane, follow the airline's instructions. Use may be prohibited on certain airlines. Contact the airline for more information.
- Do not use the headphones while charging.
- Contains small parts that may pose a choking hazard. Not suitable for children under three years of age.
- The product contains magnetic materials. Consult your doctor if this could affect your implanted medical device.
- Keep the airplane adapter out of reach of children to prevent swallowing.
- Proper charging is not possible if dust or water droplets are present on the headphone charging contacts. Remove dust or water droplets before charging.
- Be aware that the unit may be warm during or immediately after charging. Depending on your body type and health condition, wearing the headphones may trigger undesirable reactions, such as skin redness, itching, or rash, if the headphones have just been removed from the charging stand and are still warm.
- Do not use any USB charging cable other than the one provided.
- Do not use any other detachable cords than the one provided.
Battery
- Do not heat or expose to open flames.
- Do not leave the battery in a car parked in direct sunlight for a long time with the doors and windows closed.
- Improper handling of batteries can lead to electrolyte leakage, which can damage anything the liquid comes into contact with. If electrolyte leaks from the battery, contact your retailer. If the electrolyte comes into contact with any part of your body, wash thoroughly with water.
- When disposing of the battery, contact your local authorities or retailer to inquire about the correct disposal method.
Allergies
- Discontinue use if you experience discomfort from the earcups or other parts that come into direct contact with your skin.
- Continued use may cause a rash or other allergic reactions.
Precautions When Listening with Headphones
- Excessive sound pressure from earphones and headphones can cause hearing loss.
- Do not use your headphones at high volume. Hearing experts advise against continuous playback for extended periods.
- If you experience ringing in your ears, lower the volume or stop using them.
- Do not use them while operating a motor vehicle. This can cause traffic hazards and is illegal in many places.
- Exercise extreme caution or temporarily discontinue use in potentially hazardous situations.
- Do not use the headphones if they emit a loud, unusual sound. Turn off the headphones immediately and contact customer service if this occurs.
- Remove the headphones immediately if you experience a warming sensation or if the sound disappears.
- The headphones do not play sound while charging.
This apparatus may receive radio interference caused by mobile phones in use. If such interference occurs, increase the distance between this apparatus and the mobile phone.
Only use the supplied USB charging cable when connecting to a computer.
The symbols on this product (including accessories) have the following meanings:

1. Remove the left earcup to view the certification information.
2. The certification information (4) is located on the speaker plate and becomes visible when the left earcup (L side) is removed.
3. Insert the clips into the corresponding parts of the earcups to reattach them. (There are six clips)
If you pull the earcup too hard, it may break.

This apparatus uses the 2.4 GHz frequency range.

Usage Restrictions
- Wireless transmission and/or use with all Bluetooth®-equipped devices is not guaranteed.

- This apparatus cannot transmit data to a Bluetooth® device.
Usage Area
Use this apparatus within a maximum distance of 10 m. The range may decrease depending on the environment, obstacles, or interference.
Interference from Other Equipment
- This unit may not function properly, and problems such as noise and sound skipping may occur due to radio wave interference if this unit is placed too close to other Bluetooth® devices or devices using the 2.4 GHz band.
- This unit may not function properly if radio waves from a nearby radio station etc. are too strong.
Intended Use
- This apparatus is for normal, general use only.
- Do not use this system near equipment or environments sensitive to radio frequency interference (e.g., airports, hospitals, laboratories, etc.).

Care
Clean this apparatus with a dry, soft cloth.
- If the apparatus is very dirty, wipe off the dirt with a damp, well-wrung cloth and then wipe dry with a dry cloth.
- Do not use solvents including benzine, thinner, alcohol, kitchen detergent, chemical dry-cleaning cloth, etc. This may cause the outer casing to deform or the surface coating to disappear.
Maintaining Battery Performance
- If not used for a long period, charge this apparatus fully every 6 months to maintain battery performance.

Preparations
Charging
The rechargeable battery (installed in the unit) is not charged from the beginning. Charge the battery before using the unit.
- Proper charging is not possible if dust or water droplets are present on the headphone charging contacts. Remove dust or water droplets before charging.
- Be aware that the unit may be warm during or immediately after charging. Depending on your body type and health condition, wearing the headphones may trigger undesirable reactions, such as skin redness, itching, or rash, if the headphones have just been removed from the charging stand and are still warm.
Using the Supplied USB Charging Cable (
to connect the unit to a power supply with 5.0 V (1200 mA or more) (

- Check the orientation of the terminals and insert/pull out straight while holding the connector. (Inserting at an angle or in the wrong direction may cause malfunction and damage the terminals.)
- Power Supply (e.g., AC Adapter)
- Power supplies (e.g., AC adapters) are referred to as AC adapters in this text.
- The LED indicator lights red while charging. When charging is complete, the LED turns off.
- It takes approximately three hours to fully charge the battery from empty.
Note
- Charge in room temperature between 10 °C and 35 °C. Outside this temperature range, charging may be interrupted and the LED may turn off.
- It is not possible to turn on the power or connect to Bluetooth® devices while charging.
- Do not use any USB charging cable other than the one provided. Doing so may cause a malfunction.
Turning the Power On/Off
Turning the Power On
When the power is off, press and hold the [U/I] button on the unit for approximately two seconds until the LED indicator lights up for one second.
- A beep is heard, and the LED indicator flashes slowly.
Turning the Power Off
Press and hold the [U/I] button for approximately two seconds. A beep and a voice guidance message in English are heard before the power turns off.
Installing the "Technics Audio Connect" App
By establishing a Bluetooth® connection to a smartphone or tablet with the "Technics Audio Connect" app installed (free of charge), you can enjoy a variety of functions, such as the following:
- Program updates
- Changing the touch sensor function button (touch sensor customization)
- Customizing various settings (connection mode setting/auto power-off setting/voice guidance language setting, etc.)
- Checking the remaining battery charge
- Accessing this document
Preparations
- Turn on the apparatus.
1 Download the "Technics Audio Connect" app (free of charge) to your smartphone or tablet.
Android: Google Play
iOS: App Store
2 Start the "Technics Audio Connect" app.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to use the app.
Note
- Always use the latest version of the "Technics Audio Connect" app.
- There may be occasional changes in operating methods, display, etc. in the "Technics Audio Connect" app. Refer to the following website for more help information.
Connecting a Bluetooth® Device
Preparations
- Place the Bluetooth® device approximately 1 m away from the apparatus.
- Refer to the device's instruction manual for how to use it, if needed.
- Using the "Technics Audio Connect" app (free of charge) makes it easy to connect via Bluetooth®.
Pairing Procedure - Pairing Your Headphones with a New Bluetooth® Device for the First Time
1 When the power is off, press and hold the [U/I] button on the unit for approximately two seconds until the LED indicator lights up for one second.
- The LED indicator will flash between blue and red.
Note: The LED indicator (red/blue) indicates that the unit is in pairing mode.
2 Turn on the Bluetooth® device and activate the Bluetooth® function.
3 Select "EAH-A800" from the Bluetooth® device's menu.
- A Bluetooth® device address (an alphanumeric string that is displayed and unique to the device) may appear before "EAH-A800" is displayed.
- If prompted to enter a password, enter the password for this apparatus, "0000 (four zeros)".
- When the LED indicator flashes (blue) twice at approximately two-second intervals, pairing is complete and the connection is established.
- If it flashes red, the battery is nearly depleted.
4 Confirm that the unit and the Bluetooth® device are connected.
Note
- If the connection to the device is not completed within five minutes, the device's pairing mode will be canceled and it will revert to standby mode. Perform pairing again.
- This apparatus remembers the last connected device. The device can connect automatically after the power is turned on for the device.
Connecting a Second Bluetooth® Device
1 When the power is off, press and hold the [U/I] button for at least seven seconds until the LED indicator starts flashing between blue and red.
- Wait approximately five seconds after turning off the power to the unit.
- The LED indicator (red/blue) indicates that the unit is in pairing mode.
2 Perform steps 2 and 3 in "Pairing Procedure - Pairing Your Headphones with a New Bluetooth® Device for the First Time". (→ 11)
- When the LED indicator (blue) flashes twice approximately every other second, pairing is complete (pairing created).
Note
- You can pair a maximum of ten Bluetooth® devices with the headphones. When you pair a device after the maximum number has been exceeded, previous devices will be overwritten. To use overwritten devices again, you must pair them again.
- It is easier to pair if you disable the Bluetooth® function on the first device when pairing with a device after the first.
- If the connection to the device is not completed within five minutes, the device's pairing mode will be canceled and it will revert to standby mode. Perform pairing again.
- This apparatus remembers the last connected device. The device can connect automatically after the power is turned on for the device.
Control
Listening to Music
If the Bluetooth®-compatible device supports the "A2DP" and "AVRCP" Bluetooth® profiles, you can play music on the apparatus using the remote control functions.
- A2DP (Advanced Audio Distribution Profile): Transmits audio to the apparatus.
- AVRCP (Audio/Video Remote Control Profile): Allows you to use the device's remote control with the apparatus.
1 Connect the Bluetooth® device and the apparatus. (→ 11, "Connecting a Bluetooth® Device")
2 Select and play music or video on the Bluetooth® device.
- The apparatus's headphones will output the music or audio from the played movie.
- Operating time may be shorter depending on usage conditions.
Please Note
- The apparatus may leak sound depending on the volume level.
- When the volume is raised close to the maximum level, the music may be distorted. Lower the volume until the distortion disappears.
Note
- Playback will pause if you take off the headphones. Even after taking off the headphones, music playback will resume if you put them back on within 60 seconds.
Remote Control Operation
You can control the Bluetooth® device with the apparatus.
- Depending on the Bluetooth® device or app, some functions may not respond or may function differently than described below, even if you press the buttons on the apparatus.

Note: A beep is heard to indicate that you have reached the highest or lowest volume level.
Making a Call
You can use the apparatus for telephone calls with Bluetooth®-compatible phones (mobile phones or smartphones) that support the Bluetooth® profiles "HSP" or "HFP".
- HSP (Headset Profile): This profile can be used to receive monaural audio and create two-way communication with the apparatus's microphone.
- HFP (Hands-Free Profile): In addition to HSP functions, this profile includes a function for incoming and outgoing calls. (This apparatus does not have a function to make calls independently of a Bluetooth®-compatible phone.)
1 Connect the Bluetooth® device and the apparatus. (→ 11, "Connecting a Bluetooth® Device")
2 Press the apparatus's multifunction button (0) to answer an incoming call.
- When a call comes in, the ringtone will be heard from the unit, and the LED indicator will flash.
- (HFP only) Press and hold the multifunction button for two seconds to reject the incoming call.
3 Start talking.
- Quickly press the multifunction button twice to mute your voice during a call. (To unmute, quickly press the multifunction button twice while muted.)
- Quickly press the multifunction button three times to change the noise reduction level for the other party during a call. Voices will be easier to hear when you reduce the noise from the other party. This function is effective for reducing noise from continuous sources (ventilation fans, etc.) near the other party.
- Volume can be adjusted during a call. Refer to page 14 for instructions on how to set it.
4 Press and hold the multifunction button to end the call.
- A beep will be heard.
Note
- There may be times when you need to make hands-free settings on the Bluetooth®-compatible phone.
- Depending on the Bluetooth®-compatible phone, you may hear the phone's incoming and outgoing ringtones from the apparatus.
- You can make calls via the Bluetooth®-compatible phone by using the apparatus's microphone and an app on the Bluetooth®-compatible phone. (→ 17, "Activating Voice Functions")
Using the Ambient Sound Control
The ambient sound control function switches between noise cancellation and ambient sound.
1 Touch the touch sensor twice quickly (0), while wearing the headphones.
- The mode switches each time you quickly touch the touch sensor twice. (A voice guidance message will inform you which mode you have switched to.)
Noise Reduction
- The default setting is "Noise Reduction".
- When using the "Technics Audio Connect" app, you can turn it "ON" or "OFF".
2 Adjust the volume on the playback device.
Noise Reduction
- Reduces the sound (noise) you hear from outside.
- Noise reduction can be optimized with the "Technics Audio Connect" app. Adjust it in advance for the best possible conditions.
- When using the noise reduction function, a very low sound may be heard from the circuit that reduces sound. This is normal and does not indicate a malfunction. (This very low sound may be heard in quiet places or in the gaps between tracks.)
Ambient Sound
- You can hear ambient sounds through the headphones' built-in microphones while enjoying music.
Note
- Using the "Technics Audio Connect" app (free of charge) makes it easy to change the touch sensor's function. (customization of touch sensor)
Useful Functions
Using the "Technics Audio Connect" App
By establishing a Bluetooth® connection to a smartphone with the "Technics Audio Connect" app installed (free of charge), you can take advantage of a variety of functions, such as changing headphone settings.
Activating Voice Functions
You can use the multifunction button on the headphones to activate voice functions (Amazon Alexa, Siri, etc.) on your smartphone or similar device.
1 Connect the Bluetooth® device and the apparatus. (→ 11, "Connecting a Bluetooth® Device")
2 Press and hold the multifunction button until the voice function is activated.
- The voice assistant on the Bluetooth® device is activated.
Note
- Information on voice function commands can be found in the instruction manual for the Bluetooth® device.
- The voice function may not work depending on the specifications and app version of the smartphone, etc.
After completing step 1 above, complete the following configuration to use Amazon Alexa as your voice assistant.
1 Select Amazon Alexa as your voice assistant in the "Technics Audio Connect" app.
2 Follow the on-screen instructions to use the app.
- After logging into Amazon, you must add the headphones to the device configuration.
- Install the latest version of the Amazon Alexa app.
- Alexa is not available in all languages or countries. Alexa's features and functions may vary by location.
- Refer to the app's manuals or similar support materials for more information.
Creating Connections to Multiple Devices
A maximum of two Bluetooth® devices can be connected simultaneously. The default setting is "AV".
- When using the "Technics Audio Connect" app, you can turn "ON" the "PA" setting.
Information on connecting and registering Bluetooth® devices and the apparatus can be found at (→ 11, "Connecting a Bluetooth® Device").
1 Pair this unit with each of the Bluetooth® devices.
2 Connect the first Bluetooth® device and the apparatus.
3 Connect the second Bluetooth® device and the apparatus.
Note
- For more information, including more specific setup instructions, refer to the instruction manuals for the Bluetooth® devices.
- This may not work with some apps and programs.
- LDAC cannot be played when this function is ON.
Battery Level Notification
- When the unit is turned off, a voice guidance message in English indicating the battery level will be heard.
- When the battery level becomes low, the flashing LED will change from blue to red, and if it becomes even lower, you will hear a beep every minute.* When the battery runs out, you will hear a sound and a voice guidance message, and then the power will turn off.
* If you quickly press the [U/I] button twice, a voice guidance message in English will be heard, and you can check the battery level.
Using the Detachable Cord (Supplied)
When the power is off or the battery is depleted, this apparatus can be used as regular headphones by connecting the detachable cord (supplied).
- Before connecting the detachable cord (supplied), lower the volume of the connected device.
- If you connect the detachable cord (supplied) while connected via Bluetooth®, the Bluetooth® connection will be lost.
- The multifunction button will not function even if the apparatus is on.
- Noise may occur due to a dirty contact. Clean the contact with a soft, dry cloth if this problem occurs.
- Do not use any detachable cords other than the one provided.
Connecting to an Airplane Audio System
1 Connect the apparatus to the apparatus using the detachable cord (supplied). (
2 Connect the input jack (3) of the detachable cord (supplied) to the airplane adapter (supplied) ().
3 Connect the airplane adapter to the airplane audio system. (
Note
- The airplane adapter may not fit in the jacks of some airplane audio systems.
Resetting the Apparatus
The unit can be reset when all functions are canceled. Press and hold the [U/I] button for ten seconds or more to reset the unit. All previous functions will be canceled. (Pairing information for the unit will not be erased.)
- The unit cannot be reset immediately after the power is turned on. Wait approximately 30 seconds.
Other
Resetting to Factory Settings
If you want to erase all pairing information for devices, etc., you can reset the unit to factory settings (the original settings at the time of purchase).
1 When the power is off, press and hold the [U/I] button for at least seven seconds until the LED indicator starts flashing between blue and red.
2 Release the [U/I] button.
3 Press and hold the [U/I] and [+] buttons for at least five seconds.
- The default settings will be restored after the LED (blue) flashes quickly and the apparatus turns off.
Please Note
- When pairing a device again, erase the registration information (Device: "EAH-A800") from the Bluetooth® device's menu and register the apparatus with the Bluetooth® device again. (→ 11)
- Some setting values, such as voice command language settings and Amazon Alexa, are saved.

The apparatus complies with the "High Resolution Audio" standard from the Japan Audio Society.
- To enjoy high-resolution sound quality (audio quality certified by the High-Resolution Audio Wireless logo), you must use a playback device that has the High-Resolution Audio Wireless logo and set the Bluetooth® audio quality settings to prioritize audio quality/LDAC 990 kbps.
- In modes other than the above (connection priority mode, etc.), high-resolution quality playback may not be possible.
Troubleshooting
Perform the following checks before requesting service. If you are unsure about any of the check points or if the indicated measures do not solve the problem, contact your retailer for instructions.
Sound and Volume
No Sound.
- Ensure the apparatus and Bluetooth® device are connected correctly. (→ 11)
- Check if music is playing on the Bluetooth® device.
- Ensure the apparatus is on and the volume is not set too low.
- Disconnect and reconnect the Bluetooth® device and the apparatus. (→ 11)
- Check if the Bluetooth®-compatible device supports the "A2DP" profile. For more information on profiles, see "Listening to Music" (→ 13). Also refer to the Bluetooth®-compatible device's instruction manual.
Low Volume.
- Increase the apparatus's volume. (→ 14)
- Increase the volume on the Bluetooth® device.
Sound from the device is interrupted. / Excessive noise. / Poor sound quality.
- Sound may be interrupted if signals are blocked. Do not cover this apparatus completely with your palm, etc.
- The unit may be out of the 10 m communication range. Move the unit closer to this apparatus.
- Remove obstacles between this apparatus and the device.
- Turn off any wireless network devices when not in use.
Connecting a Bluetooth® Device
Device cannot be connected.
- You can pair a maximum of ten Bluetooth® devices with the headphones. When you pair a device after the maximum number has been exceeded, previous devices will be overwritten. To use overwritten devices again, you must pair them again.
- Erase the pairing information for this apparatus from the Bluetooth® device, and then pair them again. (→ 11)
Telephone Calls
You cannot hear the person calling you.
- Ensure the apparatus and the Bluetooth®-compatible phone are on.
- Check that the apparatus and the Bluetooth®-compatible phone are connected. (→ 11)
- If the other person's voice is too low, increase the volume on both the apparatus and the Bluetooth®-compatible phone.
Cannot make a call.
- Check if the Bluetooth®-compatible device supports the "HSP" or "HFP" profiles. For more information on profiles, see "Listening to Music" (→ 13) and "Making a Call" (→ 15). Also refer to the Bluetooth®-compatible phone's instruction manual.
- Check the audio settings on the Bluetooth®-compatible phone, and if the setting does not allow communication with this unit, change the setting. (→ 11)
General
Apparatus does not respond.
- The unit can be reset when all functions are canceled. Press and hold the [U/I] button for ten seconds or more to reset the unit. (→ 19)
Amazon Alexa does not respond.
- Check that the Amazon Alexa app is activated.
- Check that the voice assistant is set to Amazon Alexa.
- Check that data communication is enabled on the mobile device.
- Check that the unit is paired with the Amazon Alexa app.
Power Supply and Charging
The apparatus cannot be charged. / The LED does not light up during charging. / Charging takes longer.
- Is the USB charging cable correctly connected to the AC adapter's USB port? (→ 8)
- Ensure that charging is performed at room temperature between 10 °C and 35 °C.
- Ensure that the computer is on and not in standby or power-saving mode.
- Does the USB port you are using work correctly? If your AC adapter has other USB ports, unplug the connector from the current port and connect it to one of the other ports.
- If the measures mentioned above are not applicable, unplug the USB charging cable and plug it in again.
- It takes approximately three hours to fully charge the battery from empty.
- If the charging time and usage time become shorter, the battery may be worn out. (Number of charging cycles for the built-in battery: Approximately 500)
- The LED indicator lights red while charging. When charging is complete, the LED turns off.
Power does not turn on. / Power turns off.
- Is the apparatus charging? Power cannot be turned on during charging. (→ 8)
- The battery is nearly depleted when the LED flashes red. Charge the apparatus.
Storing the Apparatus
Fold the apparatus as shown below when storing it in the carrying case.
- If the USB charging cable or the detachable cord (supplied) is connected, unplug it from the apparatus.
- Do not forcibly rotate the housing beyond its rotational limit.
1 Slide in the adjustment parts.
2 Rotate the housing approximately 90° (4) on each side to fold it towards the headband side (3).
3 Rotate the other housing approximately 90° (Θ).
4 Store the apparatus in the carrying case.

Removing the Battery When Disposing of the Unit
