Lubrication Notes
Grease Type: 'J' Grease
Part No.: 49-08-4220, 1 lb. can
Note: When servicing, remove 90-95% of existing grease before applying Type 'J'. Original grease may differ in color and compatibility. Clean gear assemblies with a clean, dry cloth before reassembly. Lightly coat all highlighted parts with 'J' grease, applying a greater amount to internal and external gear teeth.
Lubrication Steps:
- Lightly coat inside bushing opening with approximately 2g grease.
- Coat both sides of the anvil washer with grease.
- Apply a thin coat of grease to the anvil surface, approximately 7.5g.
- Lightly coat the anvil steel ball with grease.
- Coat the three planet gears with grease. Apply a generous amount of grease to the exterior teeth of the three planet gears.
- Lightly coat planet gear pins with grease.
- Place a generous amount of grease to the interior teeth of the ring gear.
- Apply grease to the surface shown on the rear gearcase.
- Place grease on the teeth of the rotor pinion.
Note: The Impacting Assembly (77) comes completely pre-lubricated and should not be disassembled.
Diagram Description: Illustrations show specific points on internal components where grease should be applied during assembly, referencing part numbers and providing visual guidance for lubrication steps.

For reassembly, pay close attention to the following:
- Take note of wire routing and position within wire guides and traps while dismantling the tool.
- Ensure all components of the electronics kit are seated firmly and squarely in the handle recesses.
- Avoid pinched wires; confirm all wires and sleeves are pressed completely down in wire guides and traps.
- Before securing the handle cover, ensure there are no interferences with the handle support.
- Prior to installing the battery, check for proper functionality of the shuttle and triggers.
- Install the battery and depress the switch trigger to confirm the tool is operating properly.
