Cognitive Campus & Management
Arista's Cognitive Campus 720XP series switches leverage Arista's EOS (Extensible Operating System) and CloudVision for comprehensive network management. EOS provides a rich set of Layer 2 and Layer 3 features, including EVPN, VXLAN, and standard-based 802.1X access control. CloudVision offers a unified management plane for Arista's switching and WiFi platforms, enabling real-time telemetry, analytics, and automated network management. The Cognitive Management Plane (CMP) within EOS simplifies deployment and maintenance through rich control and telemetry APIs, supporting zero-touch provisioning (ZTP) and integration with DevOps tools.
FlowTracker, a hardware telemetry feature, monitors device state and performance statistics in real-time without impacting system functions. It can track over 1,000 unique flows per switch, expandable to 32K flows. Device fingerprinting helps identify device types, operating systems, and user IDs for easier segmentation and security auditing. Arista's CloudVision enables monitoring of application, user, and device flow throughput and latency, alerting administrators to performance anomalies.
The 720XP switches support open, standards-based L2 MLAG and L3 ECMP load balancing. Dynamic Load Balancing (DLB) optimizes network utilization by tracking flow volumes and redistributing them across shared links. The switches use standard RJ45, SFP+, and QSFP+ interfaces for closet and uplink connectivity, supporting various media types and speeds from 1Gbps to 100Gbps, including 10G/25G multi-rate SFP+ optical modules for flexible migration.
For segmentation, the 720XP series supports 802.1X authentication and integrates with major authentication solutions. Devices are automatically segmented into 802.1Q or EVPN VXLAN segments. Layer 3 VRF segmentation is also supported. The switches facilitate WiFi segmentation by providing hardware-based VXLAN decapsulation for tunneled WiFi traffic.
Mission-Critical Services with Cognitive PoE
The 720XP series switches support critical campus services like video, security, and emergency communications through power efficiency, flexible options, and prioritized PoE delivery. They offer 802.3at, af, and bt power options, supplying 15-60W per RJ45 port. With platinum-rated power supplies and low nominal power consumption, they leave ample power budget for connected appliances and IoT devices. Single or redundant 650W or 1050W power supply options allow customization of power allocation and redundancy. Prioritized power allocation ensures critical services are protected during power events, with non-essential ports automatically turned off. Constant PoE ensures power continuity during system maintenance or reboots. Cognitive Campus monitoring tracks power settings and usage in real-time, aiding administrators in managing service levels and infrastructure power demands.

Arista 720XP switches are covered by a one-year limited hardware warranty, guaranteeing parts delivery, repair, or replacement within ten business days of product receipt.
