Olympus DM-720 Quick Reference Guide
DM-720 Overview
This guide provides essential instructions for operating the Olympus DM-720 digital voice recorder.
The DM-720 features a compact design with various buttons for control:
- Power Switch: Located on the side to turn the device on/off.
- F1, F2 Buttons: Programmable function buttons.
- USB Extension: Retractable USB connector for PC connection.
- Stop Button: Stops recording or playback.
- Volume Up / +: Increases playback volume.
- RWD Button: Rewinds the recording.
- Erase Button: Deletes selected files.
- Menu Button: Accesses the device's menu.
- Record Button: Starts recording.
- FFW Button: Fast-forwards the recording.
- PLAY / OK Button: Starts playback or confirms selections.
- Volume Down / -: Decreases playback volume.
- List Button: Displays the list of recordings.
To turn on the DM-720: Slide the Power button to the 'on' position and release.
To turn off the DM-720: Slide and hold the Power button in the 'off' position until the recorder powers off.
How to Set the Date and Time
- Press the Menu button.
- Navigate to the 'Device Menu' using the + or - buttons.
- Press the ►►| button to access the settings.
- Navigate to 'Time & Date' using the + or - buttons, then press the OK button.
- Set the hour using the + or - buttons, then press the OK button to move to minutes.
- Set the minutes using the + or - buttons. Repeat this process for the date.
- Press the OK button to apply the settings.
How to Record
- Press the orange Record Button to start recording.
- Press the orange Record Button again to pause the recording.
- Press the Stop Button to stop the recording.
How to Delete Files
- Press the ◄◄ or ►►| button to select the file to be deleted, then press the Erase button.
- Select 'All files in folder' or 'One file' using the + or - buttons, then press the OK button.
- Select 'Start' and press the OK button to finish deleting the file(s).
How to Transfer Files to the PC
- Connect the DM-720 to a compatible computer using the retractable USB connector.
- Open Windows Explorer and browse to the DM-720.
- Open the folder containing the desired file.
- Copy the file from the recorder and paste it to your computer.
How to Change Playback Speed
- While a file is playing, press the PLAY / OK button. An option to adjust playback speed will appear.
- Use the + or - buttons to increase or decrease the playback speed.
How to Change the Volume
- Use the + or - buttons to increase or decrease the playback volume. This can be done during playback or when the file is stopped.
How to Switch between Folders
- From the Home screen, select 'Recorder' and press OK.
- Use the + or - buttons to navigate between folders and press OK to open one.
- From a folder screen, press the F2 button to toggle between folders A through E.
How to Activate Voice Guide
- Press the Menu button.
- Navigate to the 'LCD/Sound Menu' using the + or - buttons.
- Press the ►►| button to access the settings.
- Navigate to the 'Voice Guidance' setting using the + or - buttons, then press the OK button.
- With 'On/Off' highlighted, press the OK button.
- Press the + button to highlight 'On', then press the OK button.
