Olympus WS-852 & WS-853 Quick Reference Guide
Device Overview
The Olympus WS-852 and WS-853 are digital voice recorders. The guide provides instructions on basic operations.
Turning On/Off: Slide the Power button located on the side to the 'on' position to turn the device on. Slide the button to the 'off' position to turn it off.
How to set the Date and Time
- Press the Menu button on the recorder.
- Use the + or - buttons to navigate to the 'Device Menu'.
- Press the ►►| button to access the settings.
- Use the + or - buttons to navigate to 'Time & Date', then press the OK button.
- Use the + or - buttons to set the hour, then press the ►►| button to set the minutes.
- Use the + or - buttons to set the minutes. Repeat this process for other date and time elements. Press the OK button to apply the settings.
How to Record
- Press the orange REC button on the front of the recorder to start recording.
- Press the orange REC button again to pause the recording.
- Press the STOP button to stop the recording.
How to Delete Files
- Press the ◄◄ or ►►| button to select the file to delete, then press the Erase button.
- Choose between 'All files in folder' or 'One file' options and press the OK button.
- Select 'Start' and press the OK button to confirm deletion.
How to Transfer Files to the PC
- Connect the WS-852/853 to a compatible computer using the retractable USB connector.
- Open Windows Explorer and navigate to the WS-852/853 device.
- Open the folder containing the desired file.
- Copy the file from the recorder and paste it to your computer.
How to Change Playback Speed
- While a file is playing, press the ►►| button. An option to increase or decrease playback speed will appear.
- Use the + or - buttons to adjust the playback speed.
How to Change the Volume
Press the + or - buttons to increase or decrease the playback volume. This can be done while the file is playing or stopped.
How to Switch between Folders
- Ensure the recording is stopped.
- Press the Folder/ Index button to toggle between folders A through E.
