10 Product and Safety Information
FOR YOUR SAFETY
Read the following simple guidelines. Failure to comply with these may cause danger or violate local laws and regulations. For more information, read the full user guide.
SWITCH OFF IN RESTRICTED AREAS
Switch off the device in places where its use is prohibited or where it may cause interference or danger, such as on airplanes, in hospitals, or near medical equipment, fuel, chemicals, and blasting areas. In areas where use is restricted, follow all instructions.
SAFETY FIRST ON THE ROAD
Obey all local laws. Always keep one hand free while driving to control the vehicle. Safety should be your top priority while driving.
INTERFERENCE
All wireless devices are sensitive to interference, which may affect performance.
OFFICIAL SERVICE
Only authorized personnel should put the product into operation and repair it.
BATTERIES, CHARGERS, AND OTHER ACCESSORIES
For this type of device, use only batteries, chargers, and accessories approved by HMD Global Oy. Do not connect incompatible products.
KEEP THE DEVICE DRY
If the device is waterproof, refer to the IP rating in the technical specifications for detailed instructions.
PROTECT YOUR HEARING
Warning: When using the headset, you may only perceive ambient noise to a lesser extent. Do not use the headset if it puts you in danger.
Certain radio frequency devices may interfere with some hearing aids.
SAR
This device complies with the requirements regarding exposure to radio waves. The mobile device is a radio transmitter and receiver. It is designed not to exceed the exposure limits recommended by the international guidelines of the independent scientific organization ICNIRP. These guidelines establish significant safety levels that provide protection for all individuals, regardless of age and health status. Exposure guidelines are based on the Specific Absorption Rate (SAR), which is the sum of the radiofrequency (RF) power absorbed by the head or body when the device transmits. ICNIRP has set a SAR limit of 2.0 W/kg averaged over ten grams of human tissue for mobile devices.
SAR tests are performed in the device's normal operating position with the highest certified transmission power in all frequency bands.
The device complies with the guidelines for radio frequency emissions when held to the head in the normal position or kept at least 1.5 cm (5/8 inch) away from the body. If you carry the device in a pouch, belt clip, or belt holder, it should not contain metal parts, and it should be kept at least the specified distance from the body.
You need a good network connection to send data files or messages. Sending may only occur later when such a connection becomes available. Maintain the recommended distance until sending is complete.
During normal use, SAR values are usually well below the above values. This is because the system automatically reduces the signal transmission power when there is no need for full capacity, to increase system efficiency and minimize network interference. Lower transmitted power results in lower SAR values.
Different versions of the device may exist, so multiple values may apply. The components or design of the devices may change over time, which can also affect SAR values.
For more information, visit www.sar-tick.com. Remember that mobile devices can transmit even when no call is being made.
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), based on current scientific knowledge, no special measures are needed when using mobile devices. The organization suggests that if you want to reduce your body's exposure to radiation, use the device less or use a hands-free device to place the device away from your head and torso. For more information, explanations, and discussions about radio frequency exposure, visit the WHO website: www.who.int/health-topics/electromagnetic-fields#tab=tab_1.
The maximum SAR value for the device can be found at: www.hmd.com/sar.
NETWORK SERVICES AND CHARGES
To use some features and services or download content (including free items), a network connection is required. This may result in a large amount of data transfer, which may incur data transfer costs. You may also need to subscribe to certain services.
The device can only be used on GSM 900 and 1800 MHz networks. A service contract with a provider is required for use.
EMERGENCY CALLS
