Flight Mode
The QTS110 features a flight mode that disables the device's transmitters when the device is in flight, adhering to FAA advisory circular A.C 91.21-1D. The flight detection algorithm is designed to prevent emissions during flight. It uses two independent sources to confirm flight status: the cellular radio's speed/velocity assessment and an accelerometer sensor detecting specific event sequences. The device is only allowed to transmit if both checks confirm it is not in flight. If either check fails, the device enters airplane mode, preventing cellular transmission and reception.
Sensor Details:
- Acceleration Sensor: LSM6DSO32TR, a 3-axis combo sensor with accelerometer and gyroscope in a small land grid array package (LGA). Operating temperature range: -40 °C to +85 °C.
- Cellular Radio: Qualcomm low-power modem MDM 9205, supporting LTE-M (eMTC), NB-IoT, and 2G/EGPRS. LTE-M and NB support power class 5 (up to 20 dBm transmit power). 2G supports up to 33 dBm transmit power.
