About Your Philips Steam Iron
This document provides instructions for the Philips 1000 Series Steam Iron, including models DST1010, DST1020, DST1030, DST1040, and DST1050. Please read these instructions carefully before use.
Manufacturing Code Explanation
The manufacturing code on your product may be displayed in 4, 5, 6, or 9 digits. Understanding these codes can help identify the production date and location:
- 4-digit code: The first two digits indicate the year, and the last two digits indicate the production week. Example: 0632 means produced in the 32nd week of 2006.
- 5-digit code: The first two digits indicate the year, the next two digits indicate the production week, and the last digit indicates the day of the week. Example: 06243 means produced on Wednesday of the 24th week of 2006.
- 6-digit code: The first two digits indicate the year, the next two digits indicate the month, and the last two digits indicate the day. Example: 061125 means produced on November 25, 2006.
- 9-digit code: The first digit indicates the country of manufacture, the next two digits indicate the year, the next two digits indicate the production week, the next digit indicates the factory's production line, and the last 3 digits are the serial number of the product produced in that week. Example: 507402001 means produced in the Netherlands in the 40th week of 2007 on production line 2, as the first unit.

How to Use Your Steam Iron
Filling the Water Tank
- Ensure the iron is unplugged and has cooled down.
- Open the water tank cap.
- Fill the water tank with tap water up to the MAX line using a jug or cup. ?
- Close the water tank cap securely.
Setting Temperature and Steam
Refer to the table below for recommended fabric settings:

Note: The iron heats up quickly. Wait for the temperature indicator light to go out before ironing.
- Select the desired fabric type using the temperature dial.
- Choose your steam setting: ECO for less steam or MAX for more steam.
- Plug in the iron. The indicator light will show when the iron is heating up.
- Once the iron reaches the correct temperature (indicator light turns off or changes), begin ironing.
Calc-Clean Function (Descaling)
Regularly using the Calc-Clean function helps maintain your iron's performance and prevent scale buildup.
- Ensure the iron is unplugged and has cooled down. Empty any remaining water from the tank.
- Press and hold the Calc-Clean button for a few seconds. ⚙️
- Steam and hot water will be released from the soleplate, flushing out mineral deposits. ⚠️ Caution: Hot water and steam can cause burns.
- After the process, rinse the water tank with clean water.
- Empty any remaining water from the tank.
- Dry the iron's soleplate with a soft cloth.
Drip Stop Function
The Drip Stop function prevents water stains on your clothes when ironing at low temperatures.
- When pausing ironing or when the iron is not in use, set the temperature dial to the lowest setting or OFF.
- Unplug the iron when you have finished ironing.
- Store the iron upright on its heel rest to prevent leaks.
