Getting Started and Operation

This guide provides instructions for using your Philips 1000 Series Steam Iron.

Step 1: Filling the Water Tank

Ensure the iron is unplugged and cool. Open the water tank cap. Fill the tank with tap water up to the MAX line. Close the cap securely.

Step 2: Setting the Temperature

Place the iron upright on its heel. Plug the iron into a power outlet. Select the appropriate fabric setting (SYNTHETICS, SILK, COTTON, LINEN) using the temperature dial. The indicator light will turn on.

Step 3: Steam Settings

Once the iron reaches the selected temperature (indicator light turns off), you can use the steam function. Adjust the steam output using the steam control lever (ECO, MAX). For dry ironing, set the lever to the 'X' position.

Step 4: Ironing

Move the iron back and forth over the fabric. For stubborn wrinkles, use the steam boost function by pressing the button on top of the handle.

Step 5: Vertical Steaming

The iron can be used for vertical steaming. Hold the iron upright, a short distance from the fabric, and press the steam button.

Cleaning and Maintenance

Calc-Clean Function

Regularly use the Calc-Clean function to remove scale buildup and maintain performance. Ensure the iron is unplugged and has cooled down slightly. Fill the water tank. Turn the temperature dial to MIN. Press and hold the Calc-Clean button for a few seconds. Let the iron heat up for 5 minutes. Then, unplug the iron and empty the water tank. Rinse the water tank and soleplate.

Descaling

If your iron has a built-in descaling system, follow the specific instructions provided in the manual for your model.

Storage

Allow the iron to cool completely before storing. Store it upright in a dry place.
