A&E Specifications

The control surface features 36 moving faders in three banks, each with 6 layers. Fader strips are configurable as input channels, mixes, FX sends, FX returns, DCA masters, or MIDI strips. Each fader strip includes a PAFL, Mix, Select, and Mute button with indicators, a 22-segment multi-point meter, a 6-segment gain reduction meter, and a rotary encoder with a coloured LCD display showing name, mode, status, and level. Seven buttons provide global mode for rotary controls (Gain, Pan, Sends, and up to 4 custom functions), with send levels adjustable via faders.

A 12" capacitive touchscreen is provided for access to meters, FX, I/O, scene management, setup, utilities, and diagnostics. A second 12" capacitive touchscreen is dedicated to channel processing. Physical, dedicated controls are available for gain, HPF/LPF filters, and 4-band PEQ. Additional user-assignable physical controls include two sets of 6 rotary encoders over 3 layers and 26 user-defined keys. Dedicated keys facilitate quick Copy/Paste/Reset of mixes and processing parameters, pre/post and mix assignments, scene safes, GEQ fader flip, PAFL clear, scene automation, talkback, and library access.

22-segment meters display the 3 Main mix levels. The PAFL signal overrides LR meters and is accompanied by a PAFL-active indicator. 1/4" and 3.5mm jacks are provided for the surface PAFL headphones output, along with an analogue output level control.

The mixer includes a 2-track record and playback system for optional USB drives. The surface has two USB ports on the front (one dedicated to record/playback) and one USB port on the back panel.

The surface offers 8 XLR inputs with remote-controlled analogue gain adjustable in 1dB steps, a 20 dB PAD, and phantom power. It also provides 8 XLR line outputs, 2 AES-3 stereo XLR inputs with SRC, and 3 AES-3 stereo XLR outputs with SRC. Sample Rate Conversion (SRC) on digital inputs or outputs can be bypassed.

Two 128-channel I/O ports are available for optional digital interface modules, including MADI, EtherSound, Dante, Waves SoundGrid, and ACE. A pair of Ethercon ports provides redundant connection to the rack engine via the Allen & Heath gigaACE protocol, supporting over 300x300 channels of uncompressed audio at 96kHz, control data, and third-party Ethernet traffic. Two additional Ethercon ports are provided for I/O expansion, carrying up to 32x32 channels of uncompressed audio at 96kHz. Optional expansion racks include a modular rack with 8-channel card options for analogue or digital I/O.

A pair of BNC connectors is provided for Wordclock input and output. A pair of RJ45 sockets is provided for gigabit Ethernet network connections to laptops or other control systems.

The unit features a modular power supply accepting AC mains voltages of 100~240V, 50/60 Hz, 300W max, with an earthed 3-pin IEC male connector. A rocker switch near the mains inlet isolates the unit from the incoming mains supply. An option for a second, hot-swappable, redundant power supply of the same type is available.

Password protection for user login with different access levels and permissions is an available option.

The control surface is the Allen & Heath dLive S7000.
