Getting Started: GREE+ App Configuration
Follow the instructions within the GREE+ App to complete the initial product networking configuration.
For easier identification by Alexa, it is recommended to rename your device within the GREE+ App to an easily recognizable English name, such as "Peter".
Configuring Your Amazon Echo Device (iOS Focus)
If you have already configured an Amazon Echo device, you may skip this step. The following instructions are primarily for iOS users.
- Ensure your Amazon Echo device is powered on and connected to a Wi-Fi network.
- Open the Alexa App on your smartphone.
- After successfully logging in, tap the menu icon ☰ in the upper left corner of the Home page.
- Select "Settings" from the menu.
- Tap "Set Up a New Device" to begin the Amazon Echo device setup process.
The Alexa App interface will display options such as "Music & Books", "Lists", "Reminders & Alarms", "Smart Home", "Skills & Games", and "Settings". After selecting "Settings", you will see the "Devices" section, followed by options like "This Device", "Alexa Preferences", etc., with a prominent "SET UP A NEW DEVICE" button.
Device Selection and Network Connection
- Select the type of your Amazon Echo device and your preferred language for networking.
- On your Amazon Echo device, press and hold the small dot (referencing the light ring) according to the on-screen prompts until the light ring turns yellow.
- Tap "Continue" to proceed to the connection hotspot.
The app will guide you through selecting your device type (e.g., Echo, Echo Dot, Echo Plus, Amazon Tap) and language (e.g., English (United States)).
Echo Setup and Wi-Fi Connection
The Echo device setup will begin, connecting it to your Wi-Fi network.
- Plug your Echo device into a power outlet. Wait approximately one minute for the light ring to change from blue to orange.
- Once the light ring is orange, tap "Continue".
Manual Wi-Fi Connection:
- Navigate to your phone's Wi-Fi settings.
- Select the network named in the format "Amazon-XXX". This network may take up to a minute to appear.
- After your phone connects to the "Amazon-XXX" Wi-Fi network, return to the Amazon Alexa App to resume the setup.
- If you encounter a notification stating "Wi-Fi has no Internet access," tap for options and select "Yes."
The app will show screens like "Begin Echo setup" and "Wait for the orange light," prompting you to connect to the "Amazon-XXX" network.
Completing the Network Connection and Introduction
- Connect your phone to the Amazon Echo's hotspot. Once successfully connected, return to the previous page and tap "Continue".
- You will then be prompted to choose your Wi-Fi network. The Amazon Echo will attempt to connect to it within a few minutes.
- Upon successful network connection, tap "Continue". An introductory video will play, guiding you through the basics of using your Echo.
- After the video concludes, tap "Continue" to navigate to the Alexa Home page. Your Amazon Echo device configuration is now complete.
Screens will indicate "Continue Echo setup" and "Your Echo is online," followed by an introduction video.
Enabling the GREE Smart Home Skill

- You will be prompted to link your GREE+ App account. Enter your GREE+ App username and password.
- Click "Login" to bind your GREE+ App account to the Alexa skill.
The process involves a "User login" screen for your GREE+ App credentials and a "Verify authorization" screen detailing the permissions the skill requires, such as access to personal information (nickname, avatar, gender) and the ability to read and publish application information. You must authorize these permissions to proceed.
Discovering Your GREE Devices with Alexa
- Once your GREE+ App account is successfully linked with Alexa, you will see a confirmation message like "ac_01 has been successfully linked."
- Click the back button to exit the browser and return to your Alexa App.
- Close the current window to initiate the discovery of smart home devices that can be controlled by Alexa.
- Tap "DISCOVER DEVICES". This action will prompt Alexa to search for all smart devices previously bound to your GREE+ App account. This discovery process may take some time.
The app will display "Alexa is discovering devices..." during this process, which may take longer than 20 seconds.
Setting Up and Controlling Your Device
- After the device discovery is complete, click "SET UP DEVICE" to add your GREE device to your Alexa account.
- You will receive a confirmation that your device has been added successfully.
- You can now use voice commands to control your device. Tap "DONE".
- You will have the option to skip or add your newly added smart device to an existing family group for better organization.
The interface will show confirmation such as "1 thermostat discovered" and "Peter is set up and ready to use," with an example command: "Alexa, set Peter to 72 degrees". You can also add your thermostat to a group.
Common Voice Control Commands
You can now control your GREE smart devices using voice commands via your Amazon Echo device. Here are some examples for controlling your AC unit:
- Turn On/Off: "Alexa, turn on/off AC." or "Alexa, turn on AC."
- Fan Speed: "Alexa, set the AC to high."
- Mode: "Alexa, set mode on AC to cool."
- Temperature: "Alexa, set the AC temperature to 16."
Amazon suggests avoiding "AC" as the device name. Consider using more descriptive names like "Living Room AC" or other personalized names for better voice recognition.
