Telecommunication Cord: Use only No. 26 AWG or larger UL Listed or CSA Certified Telecommunication Line Cord.
Internal Telephone Ports (VoIP): Equipment connected to these ports must be UL Listed and connections made according to Article 800 of the NEC.
Repairs: Do not attempt to service, adjust, or repair this equipment. Contact your local ARRIS distributor or service provider for assistance. Failure to do so may void the product warranty.
Location - Electrical Considerations: Avoid using the product near water (bathtubs, sinks, wet basements, pools) or during electrical storms. Avoid locations near appliances causing voltage fluctuations or electrical noise.
Location - Environmental Considerations: Do not plug the adapter into an outdoor outlet or operate the gateway outdoors. It is not waterproof or dustproof. Avoid high heat, dust, humidity, moisture, or caustic chemicals. Keep away from direct sunlight and heat sources. Do not use if the cord is damaged. Replace the unit if damaged or exposed to excess moisture.
Class 1 Laser Product: Viewing laser output with optical instruments within 100 mm may pose an eye hazard. Ensure all active fibers in the network are properly terminated.
Powering and Initial Cabling
Press the On/Off button on the back of the gateway. The Power indicator will flash GREEN during boot-up and turn solid GREEN when operational. During normal operation, the Broadband, WAN, Wi-Fi, and Voice indicators will initially be off, then light solid GREEN as services become active.
Broadband: Follow instructions from your Service Provider.
Digital Phone Service: Connect an RJ-11 phone cable to a Phone Line port on the gateway and the other end to a phone or fax machine.
LAN Ethernet: Connect an RJ-45 Ethernet cable from the gateway's Ethernet port to a computer's Ethernet port.
USB Port: Connect a USB cable from the gateway's USB port to your device.
Configuring Your Gateway
- Add a wireless device to the gateway: Scan the QR code on the gateway with your phone or tablet. Follow steps 3 and 4 to access the Web Management Interface. If the QR code cannot be scanned, use the Wi-Fi name and password from the gateway's label.
- Add a wired device to the gateway: Connect an Ethernet cable from your device (PC, laptop) to the gateway. Follow step 3 to access the Web Management Interface.
- Access the Web Management Interface: Open a web browser and navigate to http://192.168.1.254. You will be prompted for the Device Access Code, found on the product label on the base of the gateway. Enter the code to make changes.
- Change Wi-Fi Network Name/Password: In the Web Management Interface, navigate to the Wi-Fi section. Modify the SSID (network name) and/or password, then select Apply.
- Disable the Wi-Fi Network: In the Wi-Fi section of the Web Management Interface, disable the Wi-Fi network and select Apply. Contact your service provider if they operate a community Wi-Fi service that might include your unit.
