Which machines can be used with Cricut Design Space?
Cricut Design Space™ is compatible with the Cricut Explore®, Cricut Explore Air™, Cricut Explore Air 2, and Cricut Explore One™ machines.
Do I have to be connected to the internet to use Design Space?

Does Cricut Design Space work on a Chromebook computer?
No. Cricut Design Space requires a Windows or Mac operating system when used on a desktop or laptop computer. Instead of Windows or Mac iOS, Chromebooks run Google's Chrome operating system, which is not compatible with Cricut Design Space.
Can Cricut Design Space work on multiple computers and iOS devices?
Yes. Because it is cloud-based, Design Space makes it possible to design here, there, and everywhere! Start a project on your iPad® from the couch and finish it on the computer in your craft room. Make a change on this device, it updates on that device. Design Space® gives you access to all of your images and projects from any compatible computer or iOS device.
How long do I have access to images I purchase?
Once you purchase an image, it remains in your image library and does not expire. You will be able to access the images you purchase or upload as well as the other images you own through your account in Design Space.
How do I hold my images or writing in place, so that they cut or write exactly as positioned when I click "Go"?
The Attach tool is used to preserve the relative spacing of items on your design screen. Attached images and written text will remain as they appear on the canvas when pulled onto the cutting mat.
For example, when you want to write on a tag, you will need to position your text over the desired image (ensure that the text is set to write if you wish to write). Then select both the text and the image and click “Attach” in the top of the Layers panel. This will cause them to remain in sync when you send your project to the mat preview. How can I find my images and fonts in Design Space?
Locating all images that have been linked to your Cricut.com account is easy.
- Click on the “Images” icon on the left of your canvas to access the image library.
- A new window will open containing the Image Library. Use the filter in the top right of the page to select "My Images.” Design Space® will filter through all images and show you only the ones you have linked, have purchased digitally, or are part of your Cricut Access plan (if you have an active Cricut Access plan.)
- To search for cartridges that you own, click on the Cartridges index to the left of the search field to access the list of over 400 cartridges.
- Use the filter menu in the upper right of the screen to select "My Cartridges." Design Space® will filter through all cartridges and show you only those cartridges that you have linked, purchased digitally, or that are part of your Cricut Access plan, if you have an active Cricut Access plan.
Your fonts can be found in a drop-down menu in the Text Edit panel.
- Click "Text" on the left side of the canvas. The Text Edit will appear. You can either type your text, or select your font first.
- Click on the Font drop-down menu to access the list of available fonts. Fonts listed without a price reflect fonts that you have either purchased, linked, or are part of a Cricut Access plan, if you have an active Cricut Access plan, and can be used for no additional charge.
- Click on “Filter” in the upper right corner of the font list and select “My Fonts" to view all fonts for which you have permissions.
How do I find my Cricut Access images and fonts in Design Space?
Everything that is included in Cricut Access is now marked with a green “a” in Design Space. You can also use the filters to select "Cricut Access” when searching for images or Ready-to-Make projects.
How can I unweld an image in Design Space?
Unfortunately, there is no unweld option available. If you have not saved your project, you can undo your changes. However, “unweld” is not possible at this time.
Can I disable the grid in Design Space?
Yes, Design Space allows you to toggle grid lines. On a Windows/Mac computer, click on the Account menu (three stacked lines in the upper left corner) and select Settings. You will see the Canvas Grid options and can select your preference. In the settings menu, you will also see “Keyboard shortcuts.” Click there to view a keyboard shortcut for toggling the gridline off and on.
When using the Design Space iOS App, the option for turning the gridlines off and on is available under Settings at the bottom of the screen. You may have to swipe left to view all of the options at the bottom of the screen.
How do I change the units to metric?
When using a desktop or laptop computer, you can switch from inches to centimeters by first clicking on the Account menu (three stacked lines in the upper left corner of the screen). Then select Settings. You will see the option to choose inches or centimeters.
When using the Design Space mobile apps, the option to switch can be found under Settings at the bottom of the screen. You may have to swipe left to view all of the options at the bottom of the screen.
