Parts and Features

It is important to know your heater's parts and features to ensure its proper and safe use. Review these before using your heater.

Figure 1: Oscillating Fan Heater

The front panel displays the main components. On the top control area, there is a Thermostat Control dial and an ON/OFF Power Level Control dial. A Power Light Indicator is also located here. On the front, below the main grille, there is an Oscillation Control switch located on the heater base.

Operating Instructions

Heater Operation

Always operate the heater in the upright position following all instructions and recommendations listed in this manual.

Heater Location: Place the heater in the area of the room that is coldest.

Heater Connection: Plug the heater directly into a 120 Volt A.C. 60 Hz outlet. Ensure the plug fits tightly in the outlet. A loose connection may cause overheating and damage to the plug or heater. NOTE: To prevent overloading a circuit, do not plug the heater into a circuit that is servicing other electrical needs.

Turning the Heater On

To start the heater, turn the ON/OFF Power Level Control from the OFF position "O" to the "I" (Low) or "II" (High) setting. Then, rotate the Thermostat Control clockwise to the largest "." position. (During initial heater use, you may experience a slight odor or smoking. This is the result of the heating element lubrication "burning off". This is normal and will go away after a few minutes of use.)

Power Level Control

This heater has two heat settings: HIGH "II" (1500 watt) and LOW "I" (750 watt). Use the higher setting to raise the room temperature quickly. When the desired temperature is reached, turn the control to the LOW "I" setting to maintain a comfortable temperature.

Setting Thermostat

After the heater has been turned on and the area has reached the desired temperature, slowly rotate the Thermostat Control counterclockwise from the largest "." position until the heater shuts off (you should hear a faint "click"). By leaving the thermostat at this setting, it will automatically maintain this temperature. To maintain a lower temperature, rotate the control further counterclockwise. To maintain a higher temperature, rotate the control clockwise.

Turning Off

To discontinue use, turn the Power Switch to the "O" position. Always turn the heater OFF before unplugging or plugging in the heater. The heater should be unplugged when not in use.

Oscillation Control

You can control the Oscillation feature on the Fan Heater by moving the Oscillation switch located on the heater base to the "-" or "O" position. In the "-" setting, the heater body will swing slowly back and forth.

To Operate Fan Only

Turn the ON/OFF Power Level Control dial to the Fan "88" setting. Turn the thermostat control fully clockwise to the MAX position so that the fan will run continuously. Oscillation will function while in fan mode.

Important Safety Features

The power indicator light, located above the control panel, lights whenever the heater/fan is plugged in, indicating that the heater has power. The heater is equipped with an automatic overheat protection device. If the heater grill is obstructed, or if the heater gets too hot for any reason, this device will turn the heater off. To reset, turn the ON/OFF Power Level Control to "O", unplug the heater, and wait 10 minutes for it to cool down. Plug it back in and turn the control to an operating position. To prevent further automatic shut-off, ensure the air inlet grill (back of heater) is spaced far enough from walls or other objects to allow for sufficient airflow. Always place the heater on a smooth, level surface. The heater is also equipped with a safety tip-over switch that turns power off to the heater when it tips over. To resume heater functions, simply stand the heater upright. With tip-over protection, the heater will only operate when placed upright on a level surface.

Care and Maintenance

Cleaning

CAUTION:

Before cleaning the heater, be sure to disconnect the power cord and allow the heater to cool completely.

The heater should be cleaned at least once a year to maintain proper performance. Clean the outside surface with a damp cloth. Allow the heater to dry completely before use. Do not use harsh chemical or abrasive cleaners.

WARNING:

To prevent personal injury or heater malfunction, NEVER immerse the heater in water.

CAUTION:

Do not operate the heater without the grill in place. Do not use the heater if it has malfunctioned or become damaged in any way.

Repair

Do not attempt to open the heater to clean or service the inside. If the heater does not function normally, call the customer assistance number to arrange for possible heater service and repair: 1-866-877-1889.

Storage

Keep the original carton for storage of the Fan Heater. Coil and tie the power cord to avoid damage during storage.
