HUAWEI CarFi Quick Start Guide
Thank you for choosing the HUAWEI CarFi. The HUAWEI CarFi allows your portable devices to connect to a Wi-Fi network while you're in a moving vehicle.
Application Scenario
Insert the HUAWEI CarFi's power connector end into your car's 12V cigarette lighter socket. Your HUAWEI CarFi will then be able to:
- Provide Internet access for Wi-Fi devices.
- Supply power to devices via the USB port (rated output: 5V, 1A).
Getting to Know Your HUAWEI CarFi
The following describes the HUAWEI CarFi. This guide is for reference only; the actual product may vary.
Components:
- 1. Power button
- 2. Network indicator: Describes status like blinking red (starting up), steady red (network registration failed or 2G only), steady yellow (weak 3G/LTE signal or disabled charging), steady green (strong 3G/LTE signal), blinking cyan (software updating).
- 3. Message indicator: Describes status like blinking white (inbox full), steady white (unread messages or storage full), off (no unread messages).
- 4. USB port
- 5. 12V power connector
- 6. Micro-SIM card slot
- Reset button: Press and hold for 2 seconds to restore factory settings. Note: Restoring defaults erases all previous settings.
Getting Started
Step 1: Insert your micro-SIM card.
Insert the micro-SIM card into the designated slot.
Step 2: Insert the HUAWEI CarFi into your car's 12V cigarette lighter socket.
Step 3: Power on your HUAWEI CarFi.
Press and hold the power button to power on your HUAWEI CarFi. It will automatically connect to the network provided by the SIM card.
Step 4: Connect your device to the Wi-Fi network.
Search for the newly created Wi-Fi network on your device (e.g., smartphone, tablet, gaming console). Select the SSID of your HUAWEI CarFi and enter the Wi-Fi key.
Note: The default SSID and Wi-Fi password are printed on the HUAWEI CarFi. If you have configured a new password, use that.
You are now connected to the Internet via HUAWEI CarFi.
Note: If no devices connect within 30 minutes, the internet network is disabled. If no devices connect for 2 hours, the HUAWEI CarFi will automatically shut down.
Manage Your HUAWEI CarFi via the HUAWEI HiLink APP
Check detailed information (SMS, data traffic) or change the SSID and Wi-Fi password using the HUAWEI HiLink APP.
Download HUAWEI HiLink APP:
- For iOS devices: Search for "HUAWEI HiLink" in the App Store.
- For Android devices: Search for "HUAWEI HiLink" in Google Play or Huawei's App Center.
Note: For Android devices without internet access to download the app, connect to your HUAWEI CarFi, navigate to http://192.168.8.1 in your browser, and download the app from the device's flash memory. The app might not be the latest version and can be updated later.
Tips and Important Notes
- Use your HUAWEI CarFi in a well-ventilated environment.
- Troubleshooting: If the device is not working properly, try restarting it, restoring factory settings, or contacting the retailer.
- Overheat protection: If the device temperature is too high, Wi-Fi and charging functions may be disabled. Use within the acceptable temperature range.
- Do not use in a 24V cigarette lighter socket, as it may damage the device.
- Some vehicles temporarily turn off the cigarette lighter power when starting. The HUAWEI CarFi will power off; press the power button to turn it back on.
