Rotate the PUSH button right to increase the level, and left to decrease it.

How to Lock/Unlock the Stimulation:

Press down the PUSH button to lock the stimulation, preventing accidental shocks. Press again to unlock.

Pairing the Remote with the Collar

How to Pair Remote with the Collar (Dog 1):

  1. On the remote, use the channel switch to select Dog 1.
  2. With the remote on and collar off, press and hold the collar's ON/OFF button for 4-5 seconds.
  3. The collar's LED will flash for about 10 seconds, indicating it's ready for pairing.
  4. Press and hold the Tone and Vibration Buttons simultaneously for 2-3 seconds. The collar's green LED will blink 5 times to confirm successful pairing.

How to Pair the Second Collar with the Remote (Dog 2):

Select Dog 2 using the channel switch on the remote, then follow steps 2-4 above.

Using the LED Light and Test Tool

How LED Light Works:

The LED light on the collar helps locate your dog in the dark.

How to Use the Test Light Tool:

  1. Ensure the collar is off your dog.
  2. Turn the collar on.
  3. Place the test light's contacts against the collar's contact points.
  4. Press the Stimulation Button; the test light will illuminate. Its brightness varies with the stimulation level.

Dog Training

How to Select Contact Points and Contact Spring Sheet:

Choose contact points based on your dog's coat thickness for best results. They can be used separately or together with the spring sheet.

Collar Fitting:

Ensure the collar fits properly with contact points firmly against the dog's skin. A loose collar may move and cause discomfort or injury. A collar that is too tight can cause breathing difficulties. You should be able to fit one finger between the collar and the dog's neck.

Caution: Do not shave your pet's neck, as this can increase skin irritation. Do not wear the collar for more than 12 hours per day.

Finding the Best Stimulation Level

Important: Begin with vibration mode, using static stimulation as a last resort. The collar offers 1 to 99 stimulation levels.

Steps to Find the Level:

  1. Place the collar on your pet.
  2. Start at the lowest stimulation level and press/hold the Vibration or Stimulation Button ([S] button).
  3. If your pet shows no reaction, repeat several times before increasing the level.
  4. Your pet should not bark or panic. If they do, the level is too high; reduce it.
  5. Increase levels until your pet responds. Observe for subtle changes like curiosity, scratching, or ear flicking, which indicate a suitable 'Recognition Level'.
  6. If no response at the highest level, check collar fit. For thick fur, try longer contact points. If still no response, consider trimming fur around contact points.

Dog Training Guide

Basic Obedience Training with the AbbiDot E-Collar

The AbbiDot Dog Training Collar is a tool to help achieve desired results, such as pets being happy, safe, and responsive to commands, even at a distance or with distractions. It offers timely corrections and adjustable levels to match your dog's temperament and distraction levels. E-collar training can improve communication and learning speed. Even if your dog knows basic commands, they must learn to respond to the e-collar for commands.

The "Sit" Command:

  1. Place a separate, non-metallic collar above the e-collar and attach a 10-foot leash. Ensure the extra collar does not pressure the contact points.
  2. Hold the leash and remote in one hand, using the other to guide your pet into a sit.
  3. Press and hold the [S] button at your pet's Recognition Level.
  4. Give the "Sit" command while holding the [S] button.
  5. Release the [S] button and praise your pet when they sit.
  6. Release your pet from the command and allow play.
  7. Repeat steps 2-6. If the pet breaks the command, repeat steps 3-6.

The "Come" Command:

  1. Attach a leash to a separate collar above the e-collar.
  2. Hold the leash and remote.
  3. Wait for your pet to move away. Press and hold the [S] button at the Recognition Level.
  4. Give the "Come" command while holding the [S] button.
  5. Gently guide your pet towards you with the leash.
  6. Release the [S] button and praise enthusiastically as they approach.
  7. Move backward as your pet returns, praising them.
  8. Praise your pet upon return.
  9. Repeat steps 3-8.
  10. Once responsive, back away without a command. When they turn towards you, give the "Come" command (without stimulation) and praise as you back up.
  11. Use the leash to prevent them from running past. Repeat steps 3-8 if they do.

The "Stay" Command:

  1. Attach a leash to a separate collar above the e-collar.
  2. Place your pet on their bed or mat. Hold leash and remote.
  3. Walk around the perimeter of the bed (within 3 feet) without speaking.
  4. If your pet tries to leave, press and hold the [S] button and give the "Stay" command until they return to the bed. Use the leash if necessary.
  5. Praise your pet when they are back on their bed; treats are welcome.
  6. Once settled, release them and allow calm play.
  7. Repeat steps 1-5.

Eliminating Unwanted Behavior

Jumping Up:

Pets jump for attention. Discourage this by not encouraging the behavior and by redirecting or reprimanding. It's best if your pet knows the "Sit" command first.

  1. Select your pet's Recognition Level on the remote.
  2. When your pet lifts a paw to jump, press the [S] button and give the "Sit" command.
  3. Release the [S] button and praise when they sit.
  4. If ignored, increase the Intensity Level.
  5. Practice in various areas with different people as distractions.

Digging:

Understand why your pet digs (e.g., instinct, finding cool spots, boredom). Provide a cool shaded area, water, toys, play, exercise, and a rodent-free yard to reduce digging.

  1. Choose an intensity level one above your pet's Recognition Level.
  2. Place the collar on your pet and wait 10 minutes before letting them into the yard. Ensure no other people or pets are present to avoid association with other stimuli. The yard must be securely fenced.
  3. From a hidden vantage point, wait for your pet to start digging.
  4. As digging begins, press and release the [S] button when digging stops. Only press while the action occurs.
  5. If stimulation is ignored, increase the Intensity Level.
  6. Monitor for digging in other areas.
  7. Do not leave your pet unsupervised until digging stops completely.

Chasing:

Chasing is instinctive. Never let your dog off-leash in unsecured areas until they reliably respond to the "Come" command. Be consistent.

CAUTION: Ensure safety during training. Use a strong leash, long enough for chasing but short enough to prevent reaching unsafe areas. Be prepared to restrain your dog.

  1. If your dog doesn't know "Come," use a leash to stop them before they chase.
  2. Choose an intensity level one above your pet's Recognition Level.
  3. Create a scenario to entice chasing (e.g., cars, motorcycles, bicycles – not toys).
  4. Hold the leash firmly as the object passes. As your dog chases, press and hold the [S] button until they stop.
  5. When chasing stops, release the button, walk backward, and give the "Come" command. Praise them.
  6. Repeat until the chasing behavior stops.

Trash Raiding:

Remove tempting items from your pet's environment. Use the e-collar to teach them to stay away.

  1. Choose an intensity level one above your dog's Recognition Level.
  2. Place temptation items and position yourself out of sight.
  3. While your pet is interacting with the temptation, press and hold the [S] button. Release when they disengage.
  4. Do not speak; associate stimulation with the behavior, not you.
  5. If no response, increase the Intensity Level by 1 and repeat.
  6. Repeat in various locations with different temptations.

General Tips:

  • The collar is for active training sessions, not constant wear. Remove it when leaving your dog unattended.
  • Dogs may feel uncomfortable initially; allow a few days for adjustment before using commands.
  • Train one behavior or command at a time to avoid confusion.
  • Be consistent. Use Vibration Stimulation before Static Shock Stimulation to help the dog learn that shock may follow vibration.
  • Use minimal stimulation necessary for training.
  • Following a predefined training scenario improves success rates.
  • If your dog reacts fearfully, redirect their attention with commands like "Speak" or "Sit" and use treats.

Training Large Breeds

What Setting Should You Use with Large Breeds?

Larger dogs may require higher settings. Start low and gradually increase. Ensure a snug fit, allowing two fingers between contact leads and the dog's skin. Contact points must touch the skin, not matted fur. They should apply light pressure.

Step Two: Begin with beep and vibration mode. For 'safe shock with beep', start at Level 1 and increase gradually.

Step Three: Give a known command while pressing the activation button. Release stimulation when the dog complies. This is a physical reinforcer, not punishment.

Monitor fit closely. Remove the collar at night or when unsupervised to prevent hazards.

Training Small Dogs

What Setting Should You Use with Small Breeds?

Smaller dogs are more delicate; use lower settings. Start with tone or vibration, moving to lower stimulation levels if needed. Be cautious with puppies, avoiding physical stimulation until adolescence (18-24 months). Limit to audible tone initially.

Ensure a snug fit, allowing two fingers between contact leads and the dog's skin. Contact points must touch the skin, not matted fur. They should apply light pressure.
