IKEA Planning Service General Terms and Conditions

Introduction

IKEA Lakberendezési Kft. (IKEA Furnishing Ltd.), hereinafter referred to as "IKEA", offers a planning service for kitchens, bathrooms, wardrobes, living room walls, and storage spaces. These General Terms and Conditions (GTC) govern all such orders and are an integral part of each order.

The GTC enter into force on July 20, 2025. IKEA reserves the right to amend or supplement these GTC or to terminate the service. Any amendments will apply to orders placed after the effective date.

Hosting Service Provider: IKEA IT AB, Registered office: Ikeagatan 7, SE-343 81, Älmhult, Sweden. Contact: data.privacy.hu@ikea.com

1. General Terms

The planning service is available to both consumers and non-consumer Customers (collectively, "Customer"). Customers must be at least 18 years of age.

1.1 Prerequisites for the Planning Service

Accurate site measurements and data provision are required. Customers may assist by providing photographs. The Customer is fully responsible for the accuracy of self-provided measurements; IKEA is not liable for planning errors due to inaccurate measurements. If IKEA performs a site survey, IKEA assumes responsibility for measurement accuracy.

Customers must ensure that planned furniture fits through doorways, staircases, and corridors. The planning service does not assess these conditions. IKEA disclaims responsibility for related issues.

Data submitted can be modified until service fulfillment. Changes after submission may require a new order.

2. Customer Declaration

Ordering the planning service does not grant rights to use IKEA's trademarks, trade names, or logos. IKEA is the exclusive distributor of its products and plans in Hungary. Customers may not resell or lease plans or IKEA products.

By placing an order, the Customer declares that plans are for personal use only and they will be the end user. The Customer confirms having read and accepted the GTC and Privacy Notice.

For online orders, acceptance is via a clickable link and checking a checkbox. For in-store or phone orders, consent is confirmed via email or SMS link.

3. Order Process and Conclusion of the Contract

Appointments can be booked in-store or online via the IKEA website. The planning service is free of charge.

In-store Order:

Customers can book appointments and get information on-site at IKEA stores or Planning Studios. The currently valid GTC are displayed at these locations. Appointment booking requires acceptance of the GTC.

Online Order:

Customers select the desired planning service on the IKEA website. The process includes providing basic information, booking an appointment (choosing between online or in-store planning), selecting a date and time, and providing necessary personal data (name, address, contact details). Logging into an IKEA Family or IKEA Business Network profile can pre-fill data.

Acceptance of GTC and Privacy Policy (via checkboxes) and clicking "Confirm booking" finalizes the appointment. Customers can review and correct data before submission. Errors can be reported via the complaint form on www.ikea.hu/kapcsolat.

A confirmation email with appointment details and preparation information is sent. Contracts concluded electronically are governed by Hungarian law, are not filed by IKEA, and are not accessible later. The contract is concluded at the start of service usage.

4. Description and Fulfillment of the Planning Service

Customers must provide measurements and additional information as specified by IKEA, or order a site survey service from IKEA. Contractual conditions for site surveys are on the IKEA website.

Data provided for planning cannot be modified later; changes require a new order.

Upon order conclusion, Customers declare that:

The free planning service covers one room/wardrobe/storage space per reservation. Planning sessions have time limits: up to 1.5 hours for kitchens, and up to 45 minutes for bathrooms, wardrobes, living room walls, and storage planning.

Plans are created using IKEA's planning software. The service is considered complete when plans are uploaded to or printed from the Customer's IKEA profile. One kitchen can be planned per appointment.

Visuals are saved to the Customer's profile. For in-person planning, one printed copy is provided upon request. Customers must verify uploaded/printed plans match provided data. Redesign of completed plans requires a new booking.

5. Guidelines for Planning Services

Guidelines for Online Planning:

Online planning occurs at pre-arranged, scheduled times. Customers must ensure they have the necessary technical and IT background for the session.

Technical requirements:

In case of technical problems, IKEA will contact the customer to reschedule or arrange an in-person session. An email invitation with a link to join the online session is provided after ordering.

Guidelines for In-store Planning:

In-person planning takes place at IKEA stores or Planning Studios. Customers must provide necessary data at the beginning of the session.

6. Responsibility

IKEA does not provide contractual guarantees, and plans are not unique or exclusive. Customers may use plans only within their own household; they cannot be transferred, resold, or exploited. IKEA retains the right to revise and reuse plans.

Furniture and accessories in plans are from IKEA's current range and inventory. IKEA does not guarantee item availability after plan delivery.

IKEA is not liable for Customer modifications to completed plans. IKEA's liability for breach of contract excludes consequential damages, including property damage and loss of pecuniary advantage. Claims for damages are limited to the service value.

7. Copyright

IKEA designs are protected by copyright. IKEA holds exclusive copyright and can use designs without restriction. Customers cannot authorize others to use provided designs or use them for purposes outside the original contract.

IKEA reserves the right to revise and use plans for other orders.

8. Complaint Handling

For questions or complaints, customers can contact IKEA Central Customer Service at +36 1 808 9230, use the Complaint Form, or report in person at any IKEA store.

9. Personal Data Protection

IKEA Furnishing Ltd. is the data controller. Data processing is based on contract performance and legal obligations (tax, accounting). Purposes include order fulfillment, claim investigation, and complaint management.

Providing data is voluntary, but necessary for service fulfillment. Data recipients may include contractual partners and service providers.

Customers have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict processing, data portability, and object to processing. These rights can be exercised via contact details in the GTC. The general data protection notice is available on the IKEA website.

IKEA may contact customers for feedback on service or complaint handling. The National Authority for Data Protection and Freedom of Information (NAIH) is the supervisory authority.

10. Final Provisions

These GTC are governed by Hungarian law. Consumer complaints can be directed to Budapest Capital Government Office - Consumer Protection Department or Pest County Government Office - Consumer Protection Department. Further information is available at https://fogyasztovedelem.kormany.hu.

Out-of-court dispute resolution for consumer complaints is handled by Conciliation Boards. Details for the Budapest and Pest County Conciliation Boards are provided, along with a link to a full list of boards.
