Important Advice
Fitting
- Before starting the installation, check the tow bar for any transport damage and ensure it is the correct reference for the vehicle.
- Read the fitting instructions carefully and follow all steps precisely.
- Present the tow bar under the vehicle to check alignment before drilling.
- If drilling is required, ensure no wires or brake lines are damaged. Remove any soundproofing or underbody coating from the drilled area and treat the holes with an anti-corrosive product.
- If the vehicle has non-standard bumpers (e.g., special series, sport versions, tuning parts), contact GDW technical service before proceeding to ensure compatibility.
- The tow bar is delivered assembled for storage purposes; disassemble parts as needed for installation.
Guarantee
- To determine the maximum towing weight of your vehicle, refer to the Certificate of Conformity (COC) or contact your dealer. Do not exceed the tow bar's specifications.
- The tow bar must be checked after the first 1,000 km of use and at least once a year.
- Check all bolts and retighten if necessary.
- Repair any paint damage.
- Replace any components damaged due to accidents or impacts.
- Grease the internal parts of detachable tow bar systems.
Use
- If the tow ball obstructs the license plate or fog light, it must be removed when not in use.

Installation Steps
The following steps outline the general procedure for fitting the tow bar. Always refer to the detailed diagrams provided in the original document.
- Step 1-2: Access the rear of the vehicle. Remove the taillight assemblies by unscrewing the retaining screws (typically 2-3 per side) and carefully pulling them out.
- Step 3: Lower the rear bumper or remove it if necessary, following the vehicle manufacturer's instructions.
- Step 4-6: Remove any necessary undertray or plastic covers to gain access to the chassis mounting points.
- Step 7-8: Loosely attach the main tow bar structure to the vehicle's chassis mounting points using the provided bolts and nuts. Ensure correct orientation.
- Step 9-10: For Ssang Yong Tivoli 2WD (2x4) models, specific mounting points near the exhaust system may be used.
- Step 11: Ensure the tow bar is correctly positioned and aligned before fully tightening all bolts to the specified torque settings.
- Step 12-14: Attach any additional brackets or components as shown in the diagrams, torquing all fasteners appropriately.
- Step 15-16: Reinstall any removed parts, such as undertrays or bumper components.
- Step 17-20: Assemble the tow ball and hitch mechanism. Ensure all locking mechanisms are engaged correctly.
- Step 21-22: Attach the electrical socket housing and connect the trailer wiring harness (refer to separate electrical wiring instructions if provided).
- Step 23-24: Reinstall the rear bumper, ensuring it fits correctly around the tow bar.
- Step 25-26: Final assembly of the tow ball and hitch components. Ensure the tow ball is securely fastened and the locking mechanism is engaged.
- Step 27: Check the 180° rotation of the tow ball mechanism if applicable.
Important Note on Clearance: Ensure that the clearance specified in Appendix VII, diagram 25 (a,b) of regulation nr. 55 is maintained. This relates to the space around the tow ball and hitch mechanism for safe operation.
Safety and Usage Recommendations
- Always verify the vehicle's maximum towing capacity and the tow bar's specifications.
- Ensure the tow bar is properly maintained, checking bolts and greasing moving parts regularly.
- If the tow ball obscures the license plate or rear fog light, remove it when not towing.
- Do not exceed the maximum vertical load (S-value) on the tow ball.
- In case of any damage or suspected issues, consult a qualified professional.
