This manual provides a brief introduction to the overall structure, technical characteristics, driving operation, and technical maintenance of the scooter for your reference.

Chapter 1 Safety

Before using this scooter, please read this manual carefully, understand the precautions and overall scooter performance. Failure to follow these instructions may result in scooter damage or personal injury.

Note: This product is not a medical device and is not designed to aid, treat, diagnose, or mitigate any medical condition or disability.

  1. Do not rush to use this product without reading the manual and understanding the performance of the scooter, nor lend it to someone who cannot operate the scooter.
  2. For your and others' safety, please be sure to comply with national and local road traffic regulations when driving the scooter.
  3. Please do not exceed the maximum load capacity of the scooter (400 LB).
  4. Only one person can sit in a single seat.
  5. Do not attempt to exceed the rated obstacle crossing height. When crossing obstacles, please keep driving at low speed.
  6. When driving on uneven roads, be sure to slow down. This scooter can go on terrain. Gladiator was tested to drive while its rain for short period. Please be extra careful in rainy weather.
  7. Vehicles equipped with anti-tilting wheels have increased the safety performance of the scooter.
  8. Do not connect other devices to the battery of the scooter to avoid causing other malfunctions, damage to the scooter, or even personal injury.
  9. When going uphill, downhill, or making turns, please slow down and do not reverse on the slope. Do not drive on a slope that exceeds the maximum gradient specified by the scooter.
  10. The lead-acid battery contains lead, and waste batteries must be disposed of in accordance with relevant laws and must not be discarded arbitrarily. Important information about electromagnetic interference (EMI).
  11. It is important to understand the potential impact of electromagnetic interference (EMI) on your car.

Electromagnetic interference (EMI) refers to the electromagnetic waves emitted by external sources of electromagnetic energy (radio and television broadcasts, band radios, garage door openers, mobile phones, etc.) that may have adverse effects on your scooter control system. These external disturbances may cause your scooter to automatically release the electromagnetic brake, move automatically or in an unconscious direction, and electromagnetic interference may also cause permanent damage to the control system.

The sources of electromagnetic energy can be roughly divided into three types:

  1. A handheld short-range transceiver with an antenna for radio equipment. For example, radios in civilian bands, walking talkies, safety, fire and police radios, mobile phones, and radio equipment when not in use.
  2. A medium distance mobile transceiver, usually with an antenna exposed to a vehicle or building outside. For example, transceivers used by police, firefighting, ambulances, and taxis.

Other types of handheld devices, such as wireless phones, laptops, AM/FM radios, and small appliances, such as hair dryers or electric shavers, may also generate electromagnetic waves, but their radiation is very small, and these devices will not cause EMI problems in theory.

Attention:

When using this scooter, please avoid locations with electromagnetic wave transmission equipment. Your scooter may be susceptible to electromagnetic interference, such as radio and television stations.

If an unexpected situation occurs while using the car, the electric lock should be turned off as soon as possible to ensure safety.

Chapter 2 Assembly and Adjustment Instruction

The scooter is a powerful, safe, simple, and convenient scooter that provides you with more free space as a transportation tool. Before using this scooter, please read this chapter first so that you are familiar with the components, installation, and adjustment of the car, so that you can use it safely and smoothly. The following is a diagram of the components of this scooter:

1.1 Main Components

Before using the scooter, proper installation can ensure your safe and comfortable use. The initial installation includes adjusting the steering handle, installing the battery, and installing the rear car basket. If the scooter has been installed and adjusted before delivery, you can skip this section.

Main components:

1.2 The Connection and Disconnection of Front and Rear Frame

1.2.1 Disconnection

A. Fold the seat assembly and find the disconnecting handle located at the connection area of the front frame.

B. Lift up the handle and move the front frame forward.

1.2.2 Connection

A. Find the disconnecting handle in the front frame, find two clamping slots, align them with both ends of the connecting shaft of the rear frame assembly, and clamp them in.

B. After the front frame and rear frame are connected, release the handle and make sure the handle pin goes down and locks the rear frame.

1.3 Adjust the Tiller Angle

When you receive the scooter, the tiller is folded. You just need to find the folding angle adjuster located on the tiller, press it down, and then adjust the tiller to the position you think is suitable.

1.4 Install the Battery

A. Lift the battery, first put the battery into the rear tray as pictured. Clip the socket of the battery into the contact port of the rear frame, and place the battery in position.

B. Place the battery press rod onto both batteries and lock the quick release handle tightly. Turn on the key and check if the battery meter shows any indication; otherwise, it needs to be reinstalled.

Warning:

1.5 Install the Front Basket

The bracket of the front basket is installed on the tiller in the factory. Please align the front basket with the bracket buckle and forcefully push it down to secure the basket in the buckle.

1.6 Adjust the Seat Assembly

A. Pull the seat in the direction of the arrow shown in the picture, then open the seat backrest.

B. Adjust the armrest position. The armrest can move freely up and down.

C. The locking pin shown in the picture is only to lock the armrest in the opening position. Remove the pin, and the armrest can move freely.

D. If you need to fold the seat for the Gladiator scooter, find the knob located on the left side of the seat, pull it outward, and then push the seat to fold.

1.7 Install the Swivel Seat of Gladiator with Swivel Seat Scooter

Insert the seat into the seat plate, then push the lever under the seat forward or backward to adjust the seat direction.

1.8 Install the Rear Basket

Clip the crossbars at both ends of the trunk assembly into the installation slot behind the seat. There is a key on the trunk; please keep it properly. Pull the seat in the direction of the arrow shown in the diagram, then pull the seat back backwards and adjust the armrest position. If you need to fold the seat, find the knob located on the left side of the seat, pull it outward, and then push the seat to fold.

Chapter 3 Function Introduction

Before driving, it is recommended that you first learn about the control of a scooter and how to adjust it, in order to increase the safety and comfort of operation.

2.1 Panel

Panel Diagram:

A. Brake handle (optional part): In case of emergency, press this handle to stop the scooter.

B-/B+: Speed-/Speed+ switch: Controls the driving speed of the scooter. Pressing the turtle symbol decreases the speed. Pressing the rabbit symbol increases the speed.

C. High/Low speed selector L/H: Controls the high and low speed mode of the scooter. L represents the low-speed version (under 3.75mph) and H represents the high-speed version (7.5mph).

D. Horn switch: Press the horn button, and the horn will sound. Release the button, and the horn will stop sounding.

E-/E+: Speed lever (forward/reverse): Controls the forward and reverse movement of the scooter. The right side is the forward lever, and the left side is the reverse lever.

F. Turn light switch: Responsible for turning on and off the left and right turn lights.

G. Warning light switch: If the scooter malfunctions during driving, press this switch, and the front and rear turn lights will flash. Turn off this switch when the fault is resolved.

H. Headlight switch: When lighting is needed, press this switch to turn on the headlights, and then press this switch to turn off the headlights.

I. LCD display: This LCD display shows the left/right turning signal, headlight signal, speed signal, high/low speed mode, and battery level signal. When the speed signal continuously flashes, it indicates that the scooter has malfunctioned. The code and fault content can be found in the controller fault code. Please charge the scooter in a timely manner when the battery level indicator reaches the red light.

  4. Headlight indicator
  5. Turning right indicator
  6. High/Low speed indicator

Attention: It is normal for the battery signal to temporarily decrease when the scooter is driving on a slope.

2.2 Tiller

The following functions are installed on the tiller:

  1. Power switch: Responsible for turning on and off the power supply.
  2. USB charging port: It can charge small appliances.
  3. Tiller angle adjuster: Responsible for adjusting the orientation of the steering handle.
  4. Cup holder: Can hold water cups and beverage bottles.

WARNING: DON'T PUT HOT COFFEE ON CUP HOLDER.

2.3 Electromagnetic Brake (EMB BRAKE)

The scooter has an EMB brake function. The EMB brake automatically releases when driving, closes automatically when parking, and locks the motor to prevent slipping. Under normal circumstances, please keep the EMB brake handle in driving mode. If you need to push or drag the scooter for a long distance, please place the EMB brake handle in the driving mode. Please refer to the following figure.

Attention:

As long as the EMB brake handle mode is changed, the user must restart the power switch; otherwise, the scooter will not work.

When the scooter is in "freewheel mode" on a slope, it is easy for the scooter to slide, so do not sit on the scooter.

Chapter 4 Use of Scooter

3.1 The Usage of Charger

Please do not use the newly purchased scooter immediately. The first charge of the battery should be completed first. Please follow the following steps for charging:

  1. Please turn off the power switch of the scooter first.
  2. Insert the charger into the charging socket located in the rear cover of the scooter. Then plug the power supply end of the charger into an AC power outlet.

Charger Information: Input Voltage: 24VDC, Input Current: 4ADC

3. At this point, the power indicator light of the charger is on, and the indicator light is red/orange, indicating that it is charging (the charger should be placed smoothly and cannot be covered by items).

4. When the status indicator light of the charger changes from red/orange to green, it indicates that the battery is basically sufficient, and the charger will automatically switch to floating charging mode.

5. In the floating state (with a green indicator light on), it is recommended that the floating time be no less than 2 hours. Please ensure that the float time for the first charging of the new car is 2-4 hours.

6. After charging, first unplug the AC power plug, then unplug the charger input plug from the scooter and cover the scooter charging socket cover.

3.2 The Usage of Battery

  1. Under normal circumstances, the battery charging time should not exceed 12 hours. If the charging time is more than 12 hours and the status indicator light of the charger has not changed, charging should be stopped immediately.
  2. In the floating state (with the green indicator light on), even if charged for a long time, the battery will be damaged.
  3. Excessive discharge of lead-acid batteries can affect their service life. (High constant voltage - status indicator light is red/orange, excluding floating charge.) Long-term charging of batteries without loss of power can also cause water loss and affect their service life.
  4. Please avoid using "rebound voltage" for driving (i.e., when the battery level shows no power, there is a small amount of voltage rebound after a period of time). Recharge when the cumulative usage exceeds about 10 kilometers. If the battery is not used for a long time, it should be stored in a fully charged state and charged once a month.
  5. Waste batteries are recycled by professional departments, and users are not allowed to dispose of them on their own to avoid secondary pollution.

Chapter 4 Driving Operation

4.1 Basic Operating Procedure

  1. For newly purchased products, please ensure that the scooter has completed its first charge and undergo a tire pressure check.
  2. Please check if the EMB brake handle is in driving mode.
  3. Please check if the tiller rotates flexibly.
  4. Please adjust the seat position and steering angle to fit your body needs when getting on the scooter, and check if the seat and steering wheel are securely fixed.
  5. When the power switch is turned on, the battery meter lights up and displays the remaining battery level. Please ensure that the battery level can meet your travel needs.
  6. Please switch the speed to low speed mode before driving. When it is confirmed that driving is safe and stable, switch to high speed mode as needed. Control the scooter speed with the forward/backward lever or the speed adjust knob (turtle or rabbit).
  7. When parking, please release the forward/reverse lever. The scooter will automatically stop the battery, and the braking system will lock the motor to prevent the ride from slipping. If there is an inability to automatically stop, please immediately turn off the power switch and contact the dealer or after-sales service.
  8. When reversing, please slowly pull the reverse lever. Please be careful when reversing, and there should be no obstacles behind the scooter to prevent danger. Release the forward/reverse lever when parking, and the scooter will automatically stop and lock the motor.
  9. When not in use, please park the car in a safe location and remove the key.

Note: If there are any issues with these items, please stop driving! Before driving, check the scooter. Neglecting carelessness may cause accidents or injuries to you.

4.2 Road Condition Selection and Precautions

  1. Please try to choose a flat road surface for driving, and drive slowly on uneven roads.
  2. Please do not drive in muddy or puddled areas, and do not wade in deep water areas.
  3. Please do not attempt to cross steps or gullies that exceed the allowable range of the scooter.
  4. The performance of a battery is influenced by the ambient temperature. Generally, when the temperature drops below 0 degrees Celsius, the battery's storage capacity may significantly decrease. Therefore, in winter or cold regions, it is normal to reduce the range after a single charge. When the temperature rises to around 20 degrees Celsius, the battery's function will naturally recover.
  5. Do not climb slopes beyond the allowable range of the ride.

Chapter 5 Repair, Maintenance, and Storage

5.1 Maintenance

  1. Regularly check whether the wheel fixing bolts and nuts are loose, and the wheel fixing nuts need to be removed from the wheel hub cover for further inspection (once every 3 months).
  2. Before driving, it is necessary to check whether the tiller is firmly fixed and whether the steel bowl is loose.
  3. Before driving, check if the seats are loose or shake significantly.
  4. Scooters equipped with anti-tip wheels should regularly check whether the fixing screws of the anti-tip wheels are loose (once every 6 months).
  5. Regularly check whether the EMB brakes meet the braking requirements, and place the scooter on an appropriate slope for inspection.
  6. Please regularly check the wear level of the tires. If all the patterns on the tires have been worn flat, they should be replaced with new tires.
  7. Do a good job of cleaning the appearance of the scooter in daily life. Do not directly wash the scooter with water. Please wipe it with a damp cloth.
  8. Develop good driving habits while driving, and do not engage in behaviors that exceed the allowable range of a scooter.
  9. After driving a total of 3000 miles, the motor carbon brush should be replaced.

5.2 Storage

  1. When the scooter is not in use, it should be stored in a dry and elevated location. Please avoid staying in puddles or severe damp wetlands.
  2. Please take good rain protection measures for scooters stored outdoors.
  3. When the scooter is not in use for a long time, please do a good job in dust prevention. Before storage, please keep the battery fully charged and charge it once a month.

Chapter 6 Controller Fault Codes

The controller used by the mobility scooter contains internal diagnostic procedures for identifying and troubleshooting. When this diagnostic program detects a fault, the LED battery status signal on the panel will periodically and continuously flash at a certain number (1-9) of the battery signal for the user to identify the fault.

The fault meanings and troubleshooting methods corresponding to these continuous flashing codes are shown in the table below:

Scooter cannot move with battery indicator flashes 10 Controller overload. Likely a result of a failure in the battery connection. Check connections to the battery and controller.

Chapter 7 Warranty

The warranty period for this scooter is twelve months and covers faulty materials and workmanship (consumables not covered: tires, upholstery, lamp bulbs, plastic coverings, and batteries). Unauthorized maintenance or modifications are not covered by the warranty.
