Welcome to the Family!
This quick start guide explains the basic operations of the Bosch Smart System on your bike. This guide is also available online in your language. You can access the online manual via the codes or links below.
Even if you have been cycling for years, you should thoroughly read this guide and the following instructions:
- The user manual provided with the bicycle.
- The complete manual for the Bosch Smart System, available online at:

These manuals contain safety-relevant information and practical tips for the proper use and maintenance of your e-bike, as well as for the correct disposal of electrical components. If you do not have access to a computer or the internet, you can request a printed manual from your local dealer.
⚠️ Read all instructions carefully. Lack of knowledge about your e-bike can lead to serious injuries for you and others. Be smart. Read and inform yourself before you ride.
Things You Should Know About Your New E-Bike
-
Start Slowly
We know how much fun it is to ride fast. However, you should approach e-bikes slowly. It is certainly tempting to ride your new e-bike in the fastest setting right away. We recommend taking it easy on your first few rides. Start with a low support level and get a feel for the pedal assistance.
-
Brake Earlier
E-bikes are heavier than normal bicycles and usually travel at higher speeds. Higher power, higher speed, higher weight. Once the e-bike is in motion, it requires a longer braking distance. Therefore, you should brake earlier with an e-bike than with a normal bicycle. Initially, get used to your new e-bike and the braking performance of the brakes, and pull the brake levers gently and evenly. Never pull only the front brake lever; always brake evenly with both the front and rear brakes.
-
You Are Faster Than You Look
E-bikes often look like regular bicycles, so other road users and pedestrians might be surprised by the actual speed. Therefore, ride more cautiously and pay more attention to your surroundings.
-
Bicycle Traffic Rules Apply
Even though your new e-bike offers more freedom and riding pleasure, you are responsible for knowing and following the rules for cycling on roads, bike paths, and trails in your region. Enjoy your e-bike to the fullest, but always remember: More speed means more responsibility!
Turning the Bicycle On or Off
ON/OFF: Press and release. Pairing with Smartphone: Press and hold.
The e-bike system automatically switches off if the bicycle is not moved for 10 minutes and no buttons are pressed.
Lighting (If connected to the e-system)
ON | OFF
Note: On bikes with a mounted front and/or rear light, the lighting can be programmed to switch on and off when the bike's ON/OFF switch is pressed. In this case, the Lights button may be non-functional.
Pedal Assistance
E-bikes help you discover more of the world.

Display Option 2 (ODER): Shows battery level (%), support mode (eMTB, TOUR, ECO, OFF), range (km), and eBike status.
Pedal Assistance
Pedal assistance is suspended when:
- You stop pedaling.
- You reach the maximum support speed (maximum speed varies by region).
Pedal assistance resumes when:
- You start pedaling again.
- You pedal and your speed drops below the maximum support speed.
Push Assistance
The push assistance provides a certain amount of propulsion when pushing your e-bike.
⚠️ WARNING: Push assistance should only be activated when the bike is being pushed. Never activate push assistance while riding or in situations where the wheels are not touching the ground.
Push the bike forward or backward by pressing the button to activate push assistance. Shifting to a higher gear increases the speed of the push assistance, up to a maximum speed of approximately 6 km/h.

Battery
Charging the Battery
- The battery is partially charged upon delivery. For optimal performance, fully charge the battery before riding.
- The battery can be charged both installed and removed.
- The battery charge level is indicated by LEDs.
- While the battery is charging, the top LED on the Remote and the LEDs on the battery will blink.
⚠️ WARNING: Safety first. When charging the battery, be sure to follow these safety instructions:
- Charge the battery exclusively with a Bosch Smart System charger. Using an incorrect charger can impair the battery's lifespan and poses a potential fire hazard.
- Use the charger only in dry indoor areas.
- Do not leave the battery unattended while charging.
- Disconnect the fully charged battery from the charger and the charger from the power outlet.
Battery Status Indicators
Charging Status: LEDs blink while the battery is charging. All LEDs light up when fully charged.
Battery Level Indication:
- Blue bar = 20%
- White bar = 10%
- 4 blue LEDs + 1 white LED = 81% to 90% remaining charge
Indication for Low Battery Level:
The color of the two lower LEDs changes:
- 2 x Orange: 30% to 21%
- 1 x Orange: 20% to 11%
- 1 x Red: 10% to Reserve
- 1 x Red blinking: Reserve to empty

Proper Handling of E-Bike and Battery
To enjoy your e-bike to the fullest at all times, you should observe some safety instructions.
Mount Accessories with Extreme Caution
Consult a certified e-bike mechanic before mounting accessories. The wrong screw in the wrong place could cause a short circuit in the electrical system and/or damage the battery, leading to overheating. Damaged batteries can catch fire. If you suspect damage to your battery, have it checked immediately by your authorized bicycle dealer.
Store Battery Properly
If you will not be riding your e-bike for 3 months or longer, remove the battery from the bicycle and store it properly, following these steps:
- Store your e-bike battery in a dry, well-ventilated place, away from moisture, heat sources, and flammable or easily ignitable materials.
- Store the battery within the recommended temperature range. Storing the battery outside this range can damage it, impair its performance, or even cause it to catch fire.
- Storage Temperature Range: 10°C – 20°C
- Monitor the battery's charge level. The battery charge level should always be between 30% and 60%. The battery can be damaged by deep discharge.
- Disconnect the battery from the charger after charging. The battery should not remain connected to the charger during storage.
Transport Your E-Bike Safely
- Due to the Bosch drive system, the bike is heavier than conventional bicycles. Overloading a bicycle carrier can result in severe or fatal injuries. Check your bicycle carrier's operating manual to ensure it is suitable for your e-bike.
- For safe transport, remove the battery from the e-bike and carry it in the passenger compartment. If the battery remains on the e-bike during transport, it can detach and become a hazard.
- If the battery cover on the bike is magnetic, remove the battery and always secure the battery cover with the supplied strap during transport.
- Do not leave the battery in the car during summer temperatures. The interior temperature of the car can exceed the safe temperature range for battery storage. Extreme heat can damage the battery or cause it to catch fire.
Clean Your E-Bike Gently
Do not immerse the e-bike and its components in water and do not use a high-pressure cleaner. The electrical system can be damaged by contact with water.
Perform Maintenance and Repairs Safely
Before performing any maintenance on the e-bike, always remove the battery first. Never attempt to open parts of the electrical system. Always contact your local bicycle dealer for maintenance work on the electrical system.
