PAPAGO Ethernet and WiFi Sensors
PAPAGO is a family of devices with uniform appearance and communication capabilities. It allows combining communication interfaces on one side and measuring sensors (inputs) on the other side.
The PAPAGO family includes models such as:
- PAPAGO 2PT: Measures 2x Pt100/Pt1000 sensors.
- PAPAGO PTS: Measures Pt in an external system.
- PAPAGO 2TH: Measures 2x temperature, humidity, and dew point.
- PAPAGO 2TC: Measures 2x Type K thermocouple.

PAPAGO sensors are suitable for various applications including:
- Temperature and humidity measurement in industry, buildings, server rooms, and other environments.

Common Features
- Ethernet or WiFi interface for access via an internal website and standard communication protocols.
- Ethernet versions support Power over Ethernet (PoE), eliminating the need for an external power supply, though an AC adapter can also be used.
- WiFi parameters can be configured via a USB interface.
- Internal memory and real-time clock for storing measured data, including timestamps, which is automatically sent when communication is restored after an interruption.
- Housed in an elegant yet robust metal box suitable for DIN rail mounting. The box includes clear descriptions and LED indicators for easy commissioning.
- Data can be displayed, stored, and analyzed using the Wix program.
Communication Options
PAPAGO devices offer various communication options depending on the interface used. Control is possible via a web interface or Windows software. Machine data can be read using standard methods like Modbus TCP, HTTP GET (with encryption), e-mail, SNMP, XML, and Spinel. User control is available through a web interface or Wix software.

This section details the properties of PAPAGO system modules. The manual primarily describes variants measuring temperature and/or humidity; other variants may have separate manuals.
PAPAGO 2PT
Measures one or two external Pt100 or Pt1000 thermometers.
- Measuring Range 1: -200 to +850 °C; increment 0.1 °C
- Measuring Range 2: -200 to 400 °C; increment 0.01 °C
- Measurements per second: 1, 2, or 5
- Connection method: 2, 3, or 4 conductors

PAPAGO PTS
Measures one Pt100 or Pt1000 thermometer in an external system.

- Field current: 100 to 1000 μA (automatically recognized)

PAPAGO 2TC
Measures one or two external thermocouples of Type K.
- Measuring ranges: -50 to +1350 °C; increment 0.1 °C
- Measurements per second: 1, 2, or 5
- Connector: Standard thermocouple connector
PAPAGO 2TH
Measures temperature, humidity, and dew point from two sensors.
Important Notice: The polymer sensor is sensitive to chemicals. Avoid exposure to cleaning agents, alcohol, or petrol, as organic solvents can affect accuracy.

Connection
Ethernet Version: Connect the device using a standard uncrossed Ethernet cable to a switch. If PoE is not available, connect a power adapter to the coaxial connector (11-58 V DC, positive pole inside). The input has reverse polarity protection.
WiFi Version: Connect a power adapter to the coaxial connector near the antenna (11-58 V DC, positive pole inside). The input has reverse polarity protection.
Peripheral Connections:
- 2PT: Connect Pt100 or Pt1000 thermometer to sensor 'a' or 'b' terminals. Supports 2, 3, or 4-wire connections.
- PTS: Connect Pt100/Pt1000 thermometer through the device, preserving original wiring order (IN and OUT). Wires are detected automatically.
- 2TC: Connect Type K thermocouple to sensor 'a' or 'b' terminals.
- 2TH: Connect temperature or combined temperature/humidity sensor to sensor 'a' or 'b' terminals.
Configuration
Configuration is primarily done via a web interface, accessible via the device's IP address (default: 192.168.1.254). Network parameters can also be set via Telnet.
Ethernet Configuration
To set the IP address, use the Ethernet Configurator software. The default IP is 192.168.1.254 with a 255.255.255.0 subnet mask. If your network is incompatible, use the configurator to set a new IP address.
WiFi Configuration
Connect the Papago to a Windows PC via USB and use the Papago WiFi Configurator software (downloadable from papouch.com) to set WiFi network parameters (SSID, password, security).
Web Interface Configuration
The web interface is secured with username and password for user (view-only) and administrator (full access) roles. It is optimized for various browsers (Firefox, IE, Chrome, Opera, Safari) and mobile OS (Android, iOS, Windows Phone). Configuration is accessed via a gear icon and divided into sections, available in English and Czech.
Network Settings
- DHCP: Option to obtain IP, Netmask, Gateway, and DNS server addresses automatically.
- Device IP Address: Manual IP address setting.
- Netmask: Network mask configuration.
- Gateway IP Address: Gateway IP configuration.
- DNS Server's IP Address: DNS server configuration.
- WEB Port: Port for web interface access.
- ModBus Port: Port for Modbus communication.
- Data Port (Spinel): Port for Spinel communication.
WiFi Network Parameters
- SSID: WiFi network name.
- Authentication Method: Supports Open, WEP, WPA, WPA2 (various encryption types).
- Pre-shared Key: WiFi password.
Security Settings
Set user and administrator passwords to control access to the main page and settings.
E-mail Settings
Configure the device to send e-mails when measurement thresholds are exceeded. Settings include SMTP server details, port, sender/recipient addresses, and SMTP authorization.
SNMP Configuration
Configure SNMP for data collection in large networks. Options include enabling trap sending, setting the SNMP manager's IP address, and defining community names (read/write).
HTTP GET Configuration
Set up sending measured data to a remote server via HTTP GET requests. Configure sending interval, web server address, port, script name, and encryption key (128-bit AES). Data can be sent periodically or upon limit exceedance.

PAPAGO 2PT ETH: Sensor Section
Sensors A and B have individual, identical configuration sections.
- Connected sensor: Pt100/Pt1000.
- Sensor connection: 2, 3, or 4 wires.
- Driving current: Configurable for Pt100 (100-1000 μA) and Pt1000 (100-250 μA).
- Temperature measurement range: -200 to +850 °C (0.1 °C increment) or -200 to +400 °C (0.01 °C increment).
- Measuring speed: 1x, 2x, or 5x per second.
- Limit watching: Set upper and lower limit values and hysteresis.
PAPAGO PTS ETH: Sensor Section
The PTS version connects one sensor.

- Limit watching: Set limits for temperature, humidity, and dew point with hysteresis.
Other Settings
Configure device name, language (English/Czech), and temperature units (Celsius, Fahrenheit, Kelvin). Date and time can be synchronized with NTP servers or a PC.
Configuration via Telnet Protocol
This section details how to configure the device using Telnet, especially when the IP address is unknown or needs to be set.
- IP Address is not known: Use the command line (cmd) to update the ARP table and then connect via Telnet. The IP address must be set in the 'Server Configuration > IP Address' menu.
- IP Address is known: Connect via Telnet using the known IP address and port 9999. Access the 'Change Setup' menu to configure network parameters under 'Server'.

Data Formats
XML
Measured values, limits, and device names can be obtained in XML format via HTTP. The XML file contains tags like <sns>

SNMP
The SNMP protocol (version 1) provides access to individual objects. MIB tables can be downloaded from papouch.com. Key objects include:

Traps:
- Trap 1: Sent when a limit is exceeded, containing the measured value and the exceeded limit.
- Trap 2: Sent if a non-zero sending frequency is set, containing all current values and the device name.
Modbus TCP
Input Registers provide measured data from sensors. Key registers include:
- Sensor 1 - Status (Address 0): Indicates if the sensor is used.
- Sensor 1 - Date and time (Address 1, 2): NTP time of the device.
- Sensor 1 - Temperature (Address 10-14): Status, value in integer/float format, and unit (°C, °F, K).
- Sensor 1 - Humidity (Address 20-24)
- Sensor 1 - Dew point (Address 30-34)
- Sensor 2 (from Address 100)
Spinel
The device supports the standard Spinel protocol (format 97) for TCP communication. The Spinel Terminal program facilitates communication.
- Temperature Reading: Instruction code 58H reads current values, returning them as signed integer, float, and ASCII string.
- Response parameters: Include sensor number, variable number, type (temperature, humidity, dew point), status, unit, and value.
Indications
Ethernet Connector LEDs:
- Yellow (LINK): Lit when connected to a switch or PC.
- Green (ACT): Indicates communication activity over Ethernet.
LEDs Left of Ethernet Connector:
- Yellow (right): Lit when connection is established via Spinel or Modbus.
- Red-Green (left):
- Green lit, Red flashes: Device working properly and connected to at least one sensor.
- Green and Red lit: Device working, but not connected to any sensor.
- Red lit: Indicates an error.
Reset Procedure
To restore default configuration (including IP address reset to 192.168.1.254):
- Disconnect the device from power.
- Press the reset button located in a small hole under the Ethernet connector.
- Turn on the power and wait approximately 10 seconds until the yellow LED flashes 4 times.
- Release the button.
