Truper Vertical Air Compressor
Model: COMP-50LV
Code: 19360
Introduction
To maximize the lifespan of your air compressor, use it correctly and perform regular maintenance. This manual provides operating and maintenance instructions. Read it carefully and keep it as a guide for the proper functioning of your compressor.
The compressor is designed for compressed air production. The air produced is not for breathing or direct contact with food. The unit should only be used for its intended purpose. Any other use is considered incorrect and dangerous. The manufacturer is not responsible for any damage caused by incorrect, inappropriate, or dangerous use.
Note: This unit is not suitable for outdoor use.
Safety Instructions
Important: Before using the unit, read and follow these safety instructions:
- Only individuals who have read this manual and understand the standards for correct and safe operation should use the compressor.
- Use caution when using compressed air. Never aim airflow at people or animals. Do not use compressed air to clean clothes.
- Breathing compressed air is forbidden.
- The compressor must be placed in a fixed and stable position. Use care with horizontal positions.
- The unit is not designed for continuous use; it operates at 30% capacity for 60 minutes.
- Do not exceed the maximum operating pressure. Use the unit at ambient temperatures between 5°C and 40°C (41°F and 104°F).
- Never operate the unit if any parts are missing.
- The unit's functional parts may get hot during operation. Allow the unit to cool down after use.
- After each use, the tank should be ventilated and any remaining humidity should be wiped dry. Failure to dry the tank could be dangerous.
- Double-check that the electrical circuit is adequately protected and matches the motor's power, voltage, and frequency. Ensure a grounded connection and a differential circuit breaker are present.
- Never open the motor button box. Contact a Truper Authorized Service Center if necessary.
DANGER: The alert, caution symbols, and instructions in this manual cannot cover all possible conditions or situations. Users must understand that not all safety factors are included or caused by the product. It is your responsibility to use common sense and caution when operating this unit.
Dangerous Plates: The plates attached to the compressor are part of the unit and are designed for safety. They must not be removed or modified.
Setting
Place the compressor so that all designated carrying points are functional. Use caution with horizontal positions. The motor requires sufficient cool air; never cover the ventilation areas. Place the compressor in a cool, dust-free area. Never place the compressor in a room that is about to be painted, as paint could clog the air filter and accumulate in the compressor.
Ensure the On/Off switch, tank drain, and oil deposit cap are easily accessible. Allow approximately 30 cm (11.8 inches) of space for ventilation and maintenance.
Note: Compressor performance may be considerably reduced if there is insufficient air supply, if operated in high temperatures, or if the air filter is clogged.
WARNING: This unit SHOULD BE USED with 115 V-to 125 V~ feeding tension. Using a different tension WILL SEVERELY DAMAGE the unit.
Connection to the Main Power Supply
Connect the compressor as close as possible to the main power supply. Verify that the supply matches the voltage indicated on the motor's nameplate.
WARNING: This unit must be grounded.
CAUTION: Power cables are coded as follows:
- Green and Yellow: Ground
- Blue: Neutral
- Brown: Current
Technical Characteristics
- Voltage: 120 V~
- Frequency: 60 Hz
- Current: 15 A
- Motor Rated Power: 2.5 Hp
- Maximum Motor Power: 3.5 Hp
- Speed: 3400 RPM
- Maximum Pressure: 800 kPa (116 PSI)
- Air Flow: 125 L/min (4.4 CFM) - 40 PSI; 96 L/min (3.4 CFM) - 90 PSI
Power Cord Grips Type: Y
All conductors are: 14 AWG x 3 C with 221 °F insulating temperature. Insulation quality: Basic insulation. Insulation quality: Class I. Thermal insulation of motor winding: Class B.
CAUTION: To avoid risk of electrical shock or serious accident, if the power cord is damaged, it must be repaired by the manufacturer or a Truper® Authorized Service Center. Power cord grips used in this product: Type “Y”. Assembly design in this product causes insulation to be affected by liquid spills or splashing.
WARNING: Before gaining access to terminals, all power circuits should be disconnected.
WARNING: We do not recommend using power cord extensions with compressors. Using such extensions causes power drops, resulting in motor potency loss and overheating. Instead of using an extension cord, increase the compressor's action scope by connecting a longer hose to the outlet. Connect additional hose lengths as needed.
Electric Connection
The unit is factory-equipped with cables. Connect it to the corresponding power outlet. Connect the tool to a separate power outlet. Double-check that the voltage and electric circuit current match the motor's requirements. Use only cables with the correct diameter. We recommend using at least an 8 AWG cable with a maximum length of 15 meters (590.5 inches).
Air Connection
For optimal use of the compressor, connect a flexible hose to the air circuit to isolate the unit's vibrations.
First Use
- Verify that the previous instructions have been followed.
- Often, when the compressor is shipped, it contains a small amount of oil. Fill the compressor up to the red circle on the oil level indicator.
- Install the air filter (1) into the cylinder head (first, remove the transport cap from the setting orifice).
- Remove the transport cap (with no orifice) and install the oil deposit cap (5).
- Refrain from using electric extensions. If you must use them, unwind them completely and use cables with sufficient capacity.
- Turn on the compressor using the On/Off switch (9).
- The compressor is now ready to function, unless the air receiver is still under pressure (check the gauge).
- Turn off the unit while it is running using the automatic pressure switch button. The pressure switch will ventilate, and the compressor will restart without load.
Parts List
- Air filter
- Work Pressure Gauge
- Tank Pressure Gauge

- Oil Deposit Cap
- Regulating Knob
- Oil Level Indicator
- Tank Drain
- On/Off Switch
- Safety Valve
Operation
- The compressor will automatically stop operating when it reaches 800 kPa (116 PSI) pressure. When the air and tank pressure drops to 600 kPa (87 PSI), the compressor will automatically start again.
- Most pneumatic machines use approximately 600 kPa (87 PSI) operating pressure. For some applications, this may be low. To adjust the pressure, the compressor has a reduction valve. This valve can adjust the air receiver pressure (never exceeding the pressure in the tank).
- Adjust the reduction valve by pressing the switch to adjust the pressure (left to lower, right to increase). The pressure adjustment can be read on the gauge.
Maintenance
Before performing any maintenance, turn off the unit and disconnect it from the power outlet.
- Change the oil after the first 50 hours of use and every 500 hours of operation. Remove the oil deposit cap and the oil drain cap. Collect used oil in a container. Replace the oil drain cap and pour oil into the casing through the filling orifice until it reaches the correct level. Finally, replace the oil deposit cap. The oil change should be done while the motor is still warm (but not too hot) to allow complete oil drainage. The red circle on the oil level indicator shows the correct oil level. Always follow regulations for used oil disposal.
- Regularly drain condensation water. The drain valve is located at the bottom of the tank. It is easiest to drain under pressure. Some compressors have a post-cooler with its own drain valve. These units also require regular draining of condensation water. Dispose of condensation water according to local standards (do not pour into the drain). A water/oil separator can be used as an alternative.
- Regularly check the oil level. Refer to point 1 for the correct oil level. If necessary, refill with SAE 5W50 synthetic oil. Checking the oil level daily can help prevent accidents! Use the same type of oil the unit uses; do not mix different types of oil!
- The air filter requires frequent cleaning or replacement. The frequency depends on the amount of dirt. If the unit is used in dirty or dusty environments, it should be cleaned more often. To clean, remove the filter and its container. Clean the filter by blowing dust away.
NOTICE: Regular servicing can increase the compressor's durability and reliability.
